“We kept passing Southland around lunchtime and the parking lot was always packed to capacity, but we never got around to actually trying the place until nearly the end of our time in the Tuscaloosa area. Big mistake--this place is a diamond in the rough as far as restaurants go, and the "rough" is just the fact it's not an airbrushed chain establishment. They have a menu offering the best of Southern comfort foods in portions that will fill you up and leave you with some for lunch the next day--if you're hungry by then. There's also a salad bar for those desiring something a little more healthy, and a tantalizing offering of desserts for everyone else (there's a chocolate pie called something like French Silk, and it is a must-have while you're there). Everything is served up in a casual, country environment with good ol' Southern hospitality by both the servers and managers/owners as they come around to check on everyone to see how they're doing. It's a little detached from the main Tuscaloosa attractions, but it's worth the trip out of the way to eat at this little gem.“
“Awesome atmosphere and great location. Loaded cheese fries were really good and if you like peanut butter try the Thai nachos. Claire was our waitress and she was absolutely amazing. Claire recommended a kiwi drink that was sooooo good. For a perfect experience ask for Claire, kiwi drink and loaded cheese fries and you will be back…..“
“My favorite restaurant in town! I eat here as often as I can. Every single item I’ve tried from the menu turns out to be my new favorite! Best burgers in town, the fried catfish is fantastic! This last trip I tried the Fish & Grits…it was unbelievable! One of the best meals I’ve ever had. The staff and owners are friendly, atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, prices are reasonable. Urban Bar & Kitchen can’t be beat!“
“Luxury dining with welcoming folks in a warm environment. The staff worked like they enjoyed it and were there to make our night special. And it was. Blackened swordfish met every expectation. Even better when paired with the recommended Pinot Grigio. A great place for celebrating, making memories, and indulging“
“The food is fresh and delicious. The orange rolls are my favorite. If you like your strawberry lemonade sweet you won't get that hereParking: The building is connected to other businesses. Close parking depends on the time of day you're dinning.Kid-friendliness: They have a kids menu. My child enjoyed it“
“OMG!! I love being in the south. This place is awesome ?. Real southern hospitality at its best. From the moment u walk in, it's like ur at your Alabama grandma's house. The menu is exactly what u expect it to be to include okra, pinto beans, and fried bologna. The service staff is phenomenal. Sweet as honey pie and friendly as an iced tea on ur neighbor's porch. Pricing is ridiculous. For breakfast with four people, the cost was under $40. If u r in the Tuscaloosa area, make it a point to stop in and say "hey" ur gonna feel right at home.“
“My new favorite spot! Waffle House who!? lol Not only is the food delectable but the prices are great. Very prompt and delightful service from the sweet people they’ve got working there too. And I love the calm low lighting atmosphere. I don’t even feel like I’m in Tuscaloosa anymore lol it’s like a break from outside. A little Andy Griffin feel.“
“Biscuits are elite! The biscuit that your grandmother intended for you to have at every breakfast. Pancakes and sausage are good. Hashbrowns were ok. Grits left something to be desired but forget all of that…. Go for the great college diner atmosphere and stay for the biscuits.P.S., I ordered a lot of food. $18 was my total. Great price for great quality.“
“Great food big portions and fast service.Vegetarian options: They have vegetable plates. Everything iv had has been great. I was told the fish is good but haven't tried it yet.Parking: Don't know how many spots. But it's a busy place because they serve good food and there may be a line but they get you in and out as fast as they can without feeling rushed. They also have takeout.Wheelchair accessibility: Yes“
“when I walked into this place, my expectations were not very high. there were not many people there, except for the bar which may be a little skeptical at first, but we were hungry. we sat down and had the pleasure of meeting Jonathan who took care of us and made all of the recommendations including the uptown chicken which is an absolute must. in fact, I liked it so much that I asked for sauce on the side for my cheeseburger and fries. I know the reviews here average about a four, but I have to give it a five just based on the simplicity of the menu, the service, and the two items that I ordered. I also had a margarita which was on point. however I did make a change to the recipe and asked him not to put pineapple in it. Overall, I was extremely pleased with the place and I can't wait to go back for that uptown chicken. Oh, and by the way, by the time we left, the restaurant was packed.“
“Delightful breakfast, brunch and lunch restaurant on the Black River. The atmosphere was very laid back and chill, menu was simple but offered enough choices that I looked over it 3 times prior to ordering my omelette. I will definitely be going back the next time I'm in town. The waitress Asia was fantastic, she stayed on everything and was super polite, friendly and soft spoken with classic Southern draw. I will definitely sit in her section during my future visits. Thank you for the experience.“
“Omg..This was my first time here and I was lost at the menu it was so many great options to choose from! I decided on the fried chicken liver for the starter. They served it with gravy(delicious). We got complimentary HOMEMADE cornbread that was absolutely to die for. I ordered the chicken and dressing with the collard greens and fried okra.. The dressing was seasoned to perfection. The okra was fried perfectly. My only thing was the greens wasn't a fan of them. But because it was so many great options I took a to go plate!! If you want some good no GREAT southern food and you're passing through please stop by and give them a try!! Definitely making this a spot on my favorites list. Oh and its very affordable?“
“We were in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, for a basketball tournament and needed to get something to eat, so we visited this restaurant cause it was still open and it was late. The restaurant was very spacious and clean. The waiter came right over and took our order. I think i ordered some kind of roast beef, and it was pretty good. Whatever my girlfriend ordered, she said it was too salty and couldn't eat it. I told her to send it back, but she said it was getting late and I could take it home and eat it. The alcoholic drinks were okay. Overall, it was a decent place, and the food was good.“
“A really nice restaurant in Tuscaloosa. The street corn and guacamole are favorites there. Pretty good happy hour, but the margaritas are a tad small for me. However, the food is the attraction and it doesn't disappoint. One issue is they MAY add some idiotic liquor tax. Tell them to delete it. It's bogus!“
“I got the yardbird sandwich and the hummus and pita bread as my side. This is the best food I’ve ever had in my life. Maybe that sounds exaggerated with ALL of the places out there that I have yet to try; to date this is hands down the most delicious and fresh tasting food for the price. The person in drive-thru was so incredibly sweet. I WILL be back!“
“I can’t say enough great things about 1225. Every experience we’ve had has been exceptional from the customer service, to the atmosphere, to the food and drinks. The restaurant is also locally owned versus having corporate ownership which allows for a more personal at home vibe where the owner is hands on and turnover is low. I highly recommend if you’re looking for an enjoyable time to share with family and friends.“
“We discovered this awesome restaurant a couple of weeks ago- we own a window tint shop on Skyland and it's so easy to order lunch online and go pick it up. They are always busy but I haven't had to wait to get my food. The food is AMAZING- it's well seasoned, the meat is always tender, and the portions are huge. I can eat twice from each meal I get there. PLEASE for the love of all things good, give this place a try. In a world plagued by a severe shortage of excellent meat 'n threes, this place is a gem!!!“
“Mimosas 8/10Food 10/10 the sauces prepared with the food were amazing. Ambiance 7/10 Service 7/10 It's my birthday, the waitress knew that....a group of 4 came in 10 minutes after we ordered our food and they're food was prepared and given to them before my husband and I were given our food.“
“The food here is amazing. Passing through AL on the way back to LA and found this place on Google. It was kind of a pain to get to due to the construction and it not being just off the interstate for easy off and on but it was worth it. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was they don't allow for substitutions on any menu items. You have to get it exactly how it is listed on the menu. The service was great even at the bar where we had to sit because it was very crowded. Petty issue was they took the game off the tv we were watching to put on the SAME game that was already on 5 TVs. Otherwise will def eat here again next time I'm in town! GEAUX TIGERS! ;)“
“Let me start off by saying that I'm not really a fried chicken eater. I popped off at this exit to get some grilled fish from Captain D's. They were out of pretty much everything since it was closing time, so I headed across the street and landed here. Long story short I ended up with fried chicken and french fries. Fried chicken is dry, two crunchy, and there's usually much more breading than actual chicken.None of those applied here. These are probably the juiciest fried chicken strips I've ever had. And the breading was crispy and relatively light, and there wasn't that much of it. The Texas toast was close to perfect, the fries were... Meh. Overall though, I was very impressed with this place and for a Zaxby's clone, they do a better job of it than Zaxby's actually does.“
“Attention all fast-food aficionados: Mariah at Slim Chickens is about to redefine your dining experience! Her customer service skills are so legendary, I wouldn't be surprised if she had her own fan club. The food is so finger-licking good. Thanks, Mariah, for turning my fast-food pit stop into a memorable feast—I'm officially singing your praises to anyone who will listen!"“
“I came her for the first time a few weeks ago and have been back three times since .I am not big on alcoholic beverages but I do love a good beer now and then especially in summer .They are extremely friendly here and clean .The bartenders are always lovely and I really enjoy stopping by for a beer and chilling with my dog on the patio .The beer is extremely tasty , I lean more towards sweeter taste like the ones that have strawberry or apricot.I have visited my fair share of breweries in the south and I feel this one is review worthy .If you are in T Town check it out .Also extra points for being dog friendly“
“I had the oreo pie and a Buffalo wrap. The oreo pie was amazing ! I absolutely loved it and would recommend it to anyone who does there. It did sit a little heavy with its richness, but it is definitely worth it. The wrap was ok. I would say it lacked flavor compared to other wraps , but the fries were great. I would recommend going here when they aren't so packed. We went before they opened, but by the time we left, the place was packed, and from what I have seen, that's pretty typical on the weekends.“
“We had sunday brunch here and the food was amazing! Best chicken and waffles in town. Our server was polite and efficient. The space in this restaurant is lacking greatly. On both sides of our table we had the people behind pushing us in. The space also echos a lot so we couldnt hear each other well so we couldnt really talk.“
“I took my daughter there for breakfast with family last week because she's never been to one before, ever. It was an excellent choice, the food was delicious, the service was impeccable, and the restaurant was clean and inviting. My past experiences with Waffle House have always been on the mediocre to bad side, so I was apprehensive going there, especially being from out of state. I couldn't have been happier with the cleanliness of the place or, more importantly, the great food and service. On our long journey home, my daughter kept pointing out all the Waffle Houses we could visit. After this visit I'm quite sure we will be visiting them more often. This place is highly recommended, in my opinion.“
“Just here for the veggies most days. Got the catfish today on a whim and from now on I’m dropping a veggie for this. My kids got shrimp, burgers and a grilled pimento cheese. Everything great. Nice and hot. 10-15 minutes for food. Nice waiter. We sat outside on the back porch. Nice breeze today. Great experience.Owner came by and checked on us. They’re opening for dinner very soon. We’re regulars on Saturday Brunch and they’ve starting serving MIMOSAS!!!! and drinks.“
“I'm a fan of this place so call me biased if you want but the wings here smack. Most places in town serve tiny finger sized wings but Wheelhouse has meaty, crispy, tender wings. There's only one flavor, but it's the classic hot wing flavor with some house ranch to dip it in. Can't go wrong with a pizza or quesadilla either, but I've never tried their pasta. They regularly host events too I don't know the schedule but the activities range from casino night to a smash brothers tournament. Place has screens everywhere two pool tables, arcade basketball, photo booth darts and the hanging punching bag bar game. I've never had a problem with the staff and it's usually not too crowded unless there's an event goin on. There's typically no cover and pretty nice spot for a bite before heading out to another bar downtown. Roll Tide“
“The food was really good and the staff was really nice and helpful. The restaurant has this deli type of vibe. If it didn't smell like Greek food you wouldn't know what you were getting. But I like that it doesn't perpetrate this strictly traditional thing that it's not.“
“We arrived as they were closing however they didn't hesitate to seat us. EVERYONE was smiling and laughing. Our server was amazing. she knew the menu and didn't hesitate to recommend things. The restaurant was very clean. We will definitely be back. The manager should be very proud of the staff.“
“I had the pork chop brunch plate with potatoes and fried egg and it was AMAZING! Pork chop was full of flavor and cooked to perfection. Tasted like it came straight out of a black iron skillet actually!!! Which is a plus of course. Live music was playing in the bar and it was quit delightful! My new fav place in Tuscaloosa to escape downtown. My compliments to the chef. Do keep it up.“
“Food that we had ordered in the guy was awesome flavorful and there was plenty of it to top it off. The only downside to this place was they don't have half of their menu Stockton anytime. And there's a little bit of a wait most of the “
“Our waitress Sheila made my twins day, she definitely makes sure to put a smile on everyone’s face and has an amazing attitude. If we are back in the area we would definitely go back to see her! All the employees were very friendly and greeted us with smiles! This is a great crew that deserves recognition!“
“I may have found the most efficient multi-tasker that is the master of his game running the grill at the 5001 Skyland E Blvd, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405location. I always sit at the bar to watch the show and he effortlessly handled a full house plus to go orders single-handed. No wasted movements, everything was calculated and executed like poetry in motion. Keep this guy and promote him to train other locations at the corporate level.“
“Came in about 6 pm, it was nice and quiet. There were only 2 workers, Tiffany provided excellent customer service, not only did she take my order, she prepared not only my food but another couple as well on her own. The guy Jeremiah stayed in the back while she did all the work on her own. Everything was prepared in a timely manner. GO TIFFANY!!!“
“The gator bites was wonderful!! Dan and I was on a road trip and I pick this place from the reviews. Did not disappoint!! I had the Alfredo and it was perfect and he had the Ribeye sandwich which was outstanding with waffle fries. Did not leave hungry!!“
“We have not be eating at any Logans in awhile due to bad food and service but so happy we gave Tuscaloosa Logans a chance. It was the best we have ever had. Food was awesome and service couldn't possibly have been any better thanks to Jalen our server/bartender. He was the best, never missed a beat. ♥️“
“This was a revelation. The prices are reasonable. The service was perfect. The food is excellent. The portions are huge! This must be the best kept secret in Tuscaloosa. Hidden away in the Capstone Hotel, if everyone in Tuscaloosa tried this place once, there would be a waiting line forever after.I can't wait to go back!“
“I had an amazing experience at this restaurant! Matt, our server, was incredibly attentive and ensured all our needs were met. The food was outstanding, earning a solid 10 on my rating scale, and the restaurant's cleanliness was impeccable. It's evident that everyone here genuinely cares about your dining experience and aims to make it a positive one. Highly recommended!“
“We have not gone ..we placed an online order for deliveryMenu - super clear - super easyOrder prep to my door - was fast..The food - packaged well - zero mistakes "AWESOME FOOD"Very tasty- "will definitely be ordering from here again!"“
“No complaints on food. The atmosphere is what bothered me.The company left a note on the door on MLK day which said "they are closed for deep cleaning"Being in a black community who keeps their lights on you'd think they would be closed in honor of MLKIts the disrespect....“
“The gator bites was wonderful!! Dan and I was on a road trip and I pick this place from the reviews. Did not disappoint!! I had the Alfredo and it was perfect and he had the Ribeye sandwich which was outstanding with waffle fries. Did not leave hungry!!“
“let me tell you the first thing that attracted us to this restaurant was the smell of BBQ!!! we get in, and at first I expected a sit down style restaurant where they seat you. What you have is you go to the counter and order your food. We both chose the spare ribs and fried green tomatoes, I had the potato salad and she got the Mac and cheese. Let's break this down.. the Mac and cheese was so good your could wat it by itself and be happy, the potato salad was just as good. The fried green tomatoes were good. The ribs were sooo tender and the taste without the sauce was very good very good season and good smoke flavor, add in the BBQ sauce and they are next level. This is a must go, not a possibility. A Must!!!!! we definitely enjoyed this meal, and your staff was just as amazing!“
“If you are a Bama fan, even if you’re not!, Visit Rama Jama’s. It is decorated floor to ceiling with all things Bama memorabilia. The service is extraordinary! And the food! We had a company get together for breakfast here and it was an amazing experience.Wheelchair accessibility: It is ADA compliant“
“Lunch and dinner is always good here, but I definitely wouldn’t recommend getting breakfast here. I went once for breakfast and it was disgusting (powdered eggs, bad sausage, tiny biscuits and liquid gravy without sausage, bad cinnamon rolls, and burnt/overcooked potatoes). The staff and squirrels are also super friendly ?“
“Love love love WOB!! I’ve been coming here for almost 2 years and the food has never disappointed. The wings & appetizers are delicious. Service is hit or miss, so I typically sit at the bar where it’s a little more attentive compared to sitting at a table. Everyone’s got their own opinions about this place, but I will always come back!!“
“My FAVVVV go-to BAR in Tuscaloosa on Game Day!! Thank God we got there before they started charging cover because it was $40 per person when playing Texas ? Which is absolutely absurd. We couldn't even go upstairs for free after eating downstairs and getting there early.. But whatever. Still my favorite bar. They have the best fries and can't go wrong with traditional chicken fingers! Will always visit when in T-Town! And we also had the cutest bartender, Sarah? I think lol ?“
“I often stop here on the way back from Birmingham. Usually the beer is cold and their cheese burger and onion rings are really good. It is a local place and normally have local clientele. They are hospitable but one should remember that it has been in business this long because of the locals.“
