“Whether you're stopping for a quick bite or taking the kids out for ice cream, this little spot is one of the best hidden gems of the Shoals. My dad always took me the Sparky's when I was a child and I've enjoyed doing the same with my kids. “

“Don't you dare go here thinking you want something fancy. Come hungry and ready to eat good bbq at a good price and made by good people. My personal favorite is the bbq half-chicken, but I have had it all and it is all great. The sauce is perfect ( I literally put it on pizza). These days there seems to be a million BBQ joints opening up that sure do try to make it a fancy presentation but they all try to get the flavor from the old school places like Bunyan's and can't seem to figure out how to do it. Anyway, just skip the fancy places and go for something that has a little more heart and lot more flavor in the sauce. Also , ask them to add a hotdog in your order. Trust me, you'll get home and finish eating your BBQ then you'll think to yourself that you should have added that hotdog so you could have later, lol.For folks visiting the area: Instead of going to a place that will cost you almost 20 dollars a plate, go to Bunyan's and get your order to go. Then head down to McFarland Park ( a stones throw away...well if you have a good throwing arm that is) and have lunch on the river at one of the picnic tables. If the weather is nice, it is the makings of a pretty good day if you ask me.“

“I did indeed go back and tried the ribs this time. Killer good!! They are somewhat reminiscent of the ribs at the world famous Rendezvous in Memphis with a dry rub style, but better! They don't even need sauce, although their sauce is very good too. Solid potato salad also. No, I'm not related to Mr Mitchell and he's not asking me to give good reviews - I'm just happy to tell the world when I find outstanding food. My only regret is that I don't live here and can't eat it more often.“

“First of all, their prices are ridiculous, I mean, ridiculous, they are so... cheap:)The food is so good. They are so nice. The ambiance is basic, simple and you are reminded how cheap the food is because they aren't going out of their way to impress you with anything but the food and their pleasant attitudes, which is to say: they got their priorities straight. “This is the ABSOLUTE BEST! I have been eating the BBQ and Hot dogs from here since the day they opened in 1971. And even though I don't live here anymore, this is the FIRST stop I make every time I come to town every 2 or 3 months. I have several friends that also eat there now as well because I have shared the food with them. “2nd time trying Brooks BBQ,I had a pulled pork Sandwich, mild sauce only(no slaw), it was great. The flavor was a combination of the smoked pork pieces and sweet sauce. The meat was a mix of soft pulled and outside heavy smoked/blackened chunks.I also had a jumbo hot dog plain(no ketchup & slaw). It had a very nice smokey taste and the steamy bun finished off perfectly. I will be making more stops at Brooks BBQ.“

“One of my favorite restaurants. The Alabama fries is an absolute must and the steak and mashed potatoes are the best in the shoals. Argue with me and I promise I'll win ? its a must visit place if your in the shoals!Parking: Never had an issue finding parkingKid-friendliness: Our kids love eating here as well and they love the coloring pages they have for them. Eating outside is their favorite watching the water slide below and seeing the firepits!“

“We had a lovely lunch. The service was great, and the food was as good as it always has been. I grew up with LawLers in Athens, and it's so much fun seeing the expansion and seeing that each location is maintaining the traditional quality standards.Parking: Plenty of parking spots conveniently angled for the flow of traffic.“

“Wasn’t packed but that’s not their fault. All depends on the people. But their service and quality was superb! Couldn’t recommend this bar more to someone! Service was quick, drinks mixed excellently, a superior experience to its competitors, will definitely be returning here time and time again. “You can actually pick between two restaurants that share the building for your food choices. The food is very good. They have a large area that is set up as a typical sports bar. Tv's, corn hole, shuffle board, and a golf net are a few things available to do.“

“We had lunch portions of the grilled steak salad and grilled chicken/strawberry salad plus sides. Husbands salad was great, meat cooked to his liking. My chicken was cooked but there wasn't much meat and lots of grisel. Rest of the salad was great and sides were good too. Although they didn't have any baked potatoes for lunch. Our server was great. I just know to order the steak salad, more meat and tasted great.“

“I really wanted to give this place 5 stars, BUT the 'side items' on the menu are not even close to being on the same level as the meat options. The meats are really good, but the sides like baked beans and potato salad is like an afterthought of just quick convenience. Hardly any seasoned taste to sides. They have a "partial" winner, but they apparently dont want to knock it outta the park.“

“South's Best BBQ is really a great place. It is one of the few in the area that serves chopped BBQ instead of pulled pork. Unfortunately, they cook pork butt, not the whole hog I love from my native North Carolina.I take my mother-in-law to the beauty shop every Tuesday. It is routine that we go to South's Beat and get her a BBQ sandwich every week. Even at 92 years old, she knows good BBQ.“

“I like the grilled hot wings. (with the ghost pepper sauce) They make watching college ? better. The bbq is juicy and flavorful and they have good sauces. (Again, get the hot!) My kids like the chicken tenders and they really like the mac n cheese. I live very close to this location so it's too easy. With the Smokin Jalapeño in the same building...We go there a lot.“

“Just went through the drive through here, and the customer service was top tier! 2 minutes before they closed, they were still willing and eager to serve me. Everyone seemed happier than normal for a fast food place, and they were very respectful and kind. I really enjoyed the service and food!“
