“You can tell immediately walking into En Route that this place is popular — busy, loud, trendy music going, and honestly very cute inside. It’s part café, part eatery, with drinks, food, herbal teas (unsweetened options — always appreciated), plus a fun retail vibe with local makers selling candles, jewelry, wellness goodies, jams, etc. I actually picked up some jewelry while I was there, which made the visit feel a little more experiential than your average coffee stop.

Menu is extensive, but if you’re vegan, you’ll likely be customizing rather than ordering straight off the menu. They were totally accommodating though — I customized an açaí blue magic smoothie bowl that turned out really good. Bonus points for serving it in a square container — random, but I’ve had a LOT of açaí bowls and that was a first. Cute, different, memorable.

Service was helpful but a bit flat energy-wise. I get that it was busy, but a little warmth at the register would’ve matched the otherwise vibey atmosphere better. Not bad service — just not the friendliest front-facing experience.

I also grabbed the last vegan baked good from a local brand (“Yum”) — a cinnamon roll cake muffin. Loved seeing a local vegan baker represented, though the frosting leaned too sweet for me and the texture was more coffee-cake-adjacent than muffin. Appreciated the option, even if I wouldn’t reorder.

Overall: great herbal tea selection (hot or iced loose leaf options = yes please), strong aesthetic, fun retail element, and a solid spot if you’re okay customizing for vegan needs. Definitely a cute hangout café with personality.“

“Last week you had toppings for the cookies- sprinkles and snickers pieces. Earlier in the week I got the one with sprinkles and they used a spoon to top the cookies, later in the week they dipped their hands (w/ gloves) in both the snickers and sprinkles. I totally understand there can be cross contamination with these cookies and that's on the consumer (I usually will ask them to change gloves), but something like this I felt was pure laziness and a little unacceptable. The service here is also lacking. The employees aren't friendly by any means. This is a customer service job. You chose to work here. Needs some improvement.“

“A very pleasant surprise. We ordered the mixed platter, and the food was genuinely good , flavorful, well cooked, and served in a generous portion that was perfect for two people to share. The price felt fair and in line with similar Mediterranean spots. The handmade ayran was a standout, fresh and delicious, not the bottled kind. They also serve a complimentary bread with olive oil, which was simple but nice. What I appreciated most was the service style - calm, respectful, and non-intrusive. As an introvert, I really liked that they didn’t hover or ask repeatedly, yet they were always observant and nearby if needed. We ended with baklava to go, and it was excellent. Overall, good food, good portions, relaxed service, and definitely worth visiting if you’re staying nearby“

“One of my favorite Barros..... One thing that sucks is don't get there an hour and half before they close some nights its packed and they shut down sections of the store and will NOT let people eat in there they seem more worried on getting the store closed tight on the money“

“This cafe and store is everything I’ve dreamed of. Tons of herbal teas and concoctions, tinctures, herbal medicine, etc.You can sample any of the drinks and she offers healthy sugar free sweeteners.There are gluten free and keto snacks, kava drinks, cookies, etc.Sherry was very nice and showed us all around and told us a lot about what she’s go going on. She showed us her medicinal herb garden. I overall recommend coming here for everyone. Especially if you’re interested in alternative or herbal things.“

“These cakes are such an amazing texture. I don’t know how they do it. Airy and satisfying, moist without being wet or gummy. The birthday boy usually scrapes the frosting off cakes, but he loved his red velvet! Just the right amount of sweetness and a perfect cake to icing ratio.

It was my first time getting a cake from them, so I don’t know if this is standard practice for the company or unique to this location/staff member, but the customer service was phenomenal. She came into the middle of the shop to talk to me instead of standing behind the counter, then walked me through all of my options for decorations as if she was excited for my son to get his cake.

And then it came out wrapped, and it just elevated the ‘specialness’ of it all. Birthday boy was impressed, and he’s a teenager, so that’s hard to do.

“My husband and I stopped by after seeing Eddie Izzard's Hamlet right down the street. I got the Damon Bruce and my husband got thr Hollywoo. Both were fantastic (though I tried both and think i picked best). The dirty sauce was surprisingly sweet, and the only complaint I have is that it was sweeter than I would have liked. Did not stop me from devouring the deliciousness, though. I will be back if I am in the area again.“

“We live nearby, so we go to Barro's on McDowell in Goodyear quite often. Both, my husband and I love their pizza, and I usually order wings . I can't consume a full order of wings, so I take the rest home. Lately the wings have been VERY dry . They are NOT as good as they used to be. Are they pre-cooked nowadays ? They taste even worse the next day when I try to reheat them (not in the microwave). :(“

“Haymaker has been our favorite local restaurant since we moved to AZ 6 years ago. When they moved across the street to their new location - it’s even more our favorite restaurant. The new location is bright, clean and airy. Food is the same great quality as their original menu. Breakfast for dinner is the best. Servers are friendly and very attentive. Braden is the best! “I ordered pizza on line in a Friday, it said it would take 30 minutes, I show up they said oven is down it will be another 15 minutes. Fine, no problem. 20 minutes later I go check on it and I’m told it’s another 5 or 10 minutes. Slightly ridiculous and I’m irritated, I don’t say anything or make a scene because, who likes that? The manager comes out and apologizes profusely and makes things right. Thank you for doing the right thing, what a way to step up and ensure that I continue to come back.“

A friendly helpful woman with a mega-watt smile greeted us, answered our questions (Which donuts have maple icing? Anything with lemon? “I stopped by on probably the busiest day of the year, New Years Eve. I was in went in to pick out a couple but had trouble carrying the bag and walking on crutches. The employee took the bag safely to my car. I was still able to enjoy my New Years Eve Tradition despite having surgery 2 weeks ago. “Usually a great place, I've been going there for years. Today I was arriving from across town, made it with about 10 minutes to spare the lights are still on so I park and when I walk up the lights are off. It's 5:52, I call since it wasn't 6 (the closing time), and a young lady answers and she can clearly see me standing outside the door and says they closed early because of the weather and they weren't getting any customers. I'm very disappointed with this experience.“
