We hit this place on our way to the airport. Never had heard of it and when we visit our kid at asu we usually hit the buffalo exchange next door. We will come back again again!! The owner told us it is named after his little town near Pueblo. Amazing food!! The mole unreal! And the tostadas and tacos - small bits - were so rich and authentic with just the right kick. A bit pricey but the food is great! The chicken enchiladas were juicy and flavorful and the habanero salsa was a really nice touch. Probably some of the best most authentic mexican food around Mill.
We stopped here after landing in Phoenix. Seriously great food and really intentional service. The staff was very friendly and gave us recommendations for our vacation stops etc.
We recommend the veggie tostadas! The staff also shared the Mole was most everyone’s favorite. Cheers! 10/10

Restaurant Huauchinango is a delightful and authentic hidden jewel. The food is excellent, with many highlighting the authentic mole poblano, describing it as super flavorful and not too heavy. The pollo and carne asada are excellent, the pastor tacos are perfect, and the chicken tacos are loved. The quesadilla is declared the best ever, made with homemade tortillas and Mexican cheese. The tamales are good, and the authentic rice and beans provide a fantastic change of pace. The emmoladas, enchiladas covered in mole sauce, are also liked. The habanero and tomatillo salsas are each packed with flavor and spice. The bar serves margaritas made with fresh juices, and the horchata is good.
The service is top notch, great, kind, attentive, and genuinely sweet. The vibe inside is completely chill and upbeat. The atmosphere is charming with quirky decor and a lot of character, though the space appears a little disheveled. It is a testament to their popularity that they are often busy and sometimes run out of popular items like the mole dish. The place can get very full, which may lead to service that is a little slow, but the experience remains highly recommended for anyone wanting good Mexican food.
