great laid-back atmosphere
Wonderful food! Fun ambience! Definitely a go back soon!
Made reservations for a birthday gathering. Staff(Matt, Ivana and Basil) were great with welcoming everyone in the party and being attentive at all times of the night. Food was great and same for the drinks. For an intimate and nice dining location, Penca did great to make the evening a memorable time for all of us.

Based on reviews, Penca Restaurante offers good food with highlights including pork tenderloin, beef short rib, a chipotle shrimp special, and fresh tortillas. The guacamole and salsas are great, and there are vegan and veggie options. However, the chile relleno with pork feels overpriced, the rice is bland, and the tres leches cake is not true tres leches. Ceviche has way too much cilantro. Service is inconsistent; some find it excellent with attentive servers, while others report being ignored due to being short staffed or poorly trained waiters. The ambiance is spacious with high ceilings and a large outdoor area, but the music can be loud reggaeton that makes conversation difficult. Prices are reflective of the level of restaurant, though a red sangria was mostly ice and overpriced. Overall, the food is good depending on what is ordered, but inconsistent service and loud music can ruin the experience.
