“My family just completed an in home sushi class (coupled with catering) to celebrate a birthday. The sushi making experience was top notch. Besides great food and quality ingredients, the instructor was amazing. Informative, prepared, and most important, fun! They easily accommodated unique participant needs and tailored the experience to exactly what we wanted. We learned how to successfully make (and eat) several types of sushi in a hands on experience with no preparation or clean up required.. Highly recommend the classes (and the sushi too)“

“There’s one man in a narrow kitchen and one mildly harried woman at the register and somehow all was great. I really liked the scallop rolls. Not a lot of seating but we luckily got a table in the corner. A reliable choice for a casual meal. I was sated.“

“This place is absolutely amazing! I can't believe it's not already rated 5 stars!
I ordered the spicy salmon sashimi, and it was incredibly fresh! The spicy sauce was just perfect; typically, I don't like it when restaurants serve it on the side, but this one was an exception.
The crispy crunchy roll was also perfect. My friends ordered the Tuna Sashimi and the North Vancouver roll, and everyone agreed on the amazing quality!
The food was served in a blink! Both the waiter and the chef were so friendly.
I would definitely come back again to this amazing local spot.
Enjoy your meal there! :)“

“This is my go to sushi restaurant the food is exceptional and the prices are really reasonable. They are always quick to bring the food out and takeout is really easy from there. One thing is there is limited seating inside but overall it’s such a good sushi place.“

“A Message from the Chef of Capilano Sushi
First, I’d like to sincerely thank everyone for taking the time to leave us such thoughtful reviews, whether they were 1-star or 5-star, we truly appreciate all your feedback.
That said, I want to personally apologize to those who experienced delays with our takeout service. As a small team, we usually have only one chef preparing everything fresh to order, which can limit our speed during busy times. While some restaurants pre-make rolls for efficiency, we prioritize freshness, meaning your sushi is crafted only when you order it.
I also wanted to clarify about our sashimi, we serve only wild Sockeye salmon, which has a vibrant red color when raw. When cooked, it deepens to a richer orange hue (unlike farmed Atlantic salmon, which turns from orange to light pink when cooked). If you prefer a milder appearance, you may enjoy it raw to preserve its natural color.
Thank you all for your patience and support. If you’d like to see our process up close, or just chat, feel free to visit and sit at the bar! We’d love to welcome you back soon.“

“The food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Especially the yakisoba, chicken teriyaki and miso soup. Our Filipina server, was fantastic—attentive, friendly, and made great recommendations. She made sure our drinks were always full and that we had everything we needed. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back!“

“My favourite sushi place in Lynn Valley mall! I go there at list once a week for lunch or dinner. Very good food, friendly staff, quiet and nice atmosphere and decent prices! Highly recommend for everyone who likes Japanese food.“

“Was absolutely blown away by the service. Servers constantly swinging around the tables taking away empty plates, refilling water/tea. I even unwrapped my chopsticks before any food or anything had even come yet, and I look away for a moment and the wrapper has vanished. That's how fast and attentive the service is. A lot of other restaurants it feels like you have to beg for the attention of the server to get anything. While here you really feel cared for. Not to mention the sushi was great and the vibe was nice. A little more on the expensive side but wouldn't call it outrageous. Come here for an excellent dine in restaurant experience.“

“Great food and great service“
“Those who know Japanese restaurants in Victoria better than I are great fans of Sen. Japanese owners and some servers so one is reassured that you are getting the real thing. Lots of lunch specials (we opted for sashimi very tasty at $20 for good sized portion). No reservations at lunch and pay parking on Fort Street. Accepts all cards. Service swift and friendly. Nice atmosphere and tasty Japanese food.“

“Personally i don’t think I’ve eaten more flavour filled sushi . Came to this place randomly & wished I lived nearby it was that good
We ordered avocado oshi & salmon oshi. Both rolls were seared perfectly & the salmon melted in my mouth to the point I thought it was butter.
Tuna tataki was on point & very fresh tasting
Nicely done !“

“I stopped in here jet-lagged after a long flight, and the man working was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I ordered the chicken donburi bowl, which was delicious. The service was quick, and the prices were reasonable (especially for students, thanks to the great lunch deals)“

“Food: Had the donburi rice bowl (had maize, lettuce and other stuff) with cha shu don (pork belly). It was so good and filling—worth the price.
Atmosphere: The place is cozy. They have wordless music playing, which creates a relaxing atmosphere—I was relaxed.
Service: The staff were welcoming and nice from entry till departure.
If you’re looking for good Japanese cuisine, I highly recommend this place! Would surely be visiting again!“

“Came here for lunch in North Vancouver and tried Hachi Hana for the first time.
We ordered a few rolls.
The Hot pepper roll was very tasty. A lot of prawn tempura and it was spicy. We liked it.
The scallop roll was very fresh and tasted excellent!
Finally we ordered the salmon sashimi. Pieces were quite large and fresh tasting. Great texture too!
Overall, the sushi was great. We liked it. Very good sushi rolls and great sashimi! Would come back again.“

“Fantastic place to fill yourself with good sushi, staff is good food is excellent, forget about old wooden table and chairs it’s ok you don’t eat the chair as the other ppl said. Most importantly the food is fantastic and I tell you no need to order 3 times as they allow you on all you can eat for 45$“

“Great selection with some innovative dishes. May not be traditionally Japanese but still very good.
Examples would be the rolls. With thinly sliced cucumber as a wrap. Or soy paper.
Fresh flavors and healthy.“

“Great sushi place. I love their free tea pot which they refill. The service is really good but most importantly the food quality is top notch. Their lunch/dinner box is a great deal with lots of food. I hope they don’t drop the quality/quantity.“

“This is my go-to spot whenever I need a quick bite to eat. I usually order over the phone or online, and the food is typically ready when I arrive. Weekends can sometimes have a bit of a wait, but it’s never a big deal. Parking can be tricky, but you’ll figure it out! Overall, it’s a reliable and convenient place to grab a great meal.“

“The assorted sashimi plate was very nice!! It is just an assorted bowl up to the chef. Great presentation. It was enough for small portions for two people. My favourites were the salmon and the shrimp, it tasted very fresh! The place itself isn’t big, if you’re a big party you might have to split up or sit at the counter“
