Mount Arrowsmith Brewing Company Brewery • $
425 Stanford Ave E #109, Parksville

“Just had an amazing meal at Mount Arrowsmith Brewery! Had to try the Smokehouse Feast to get a good sampling. I can’t decide if the brisket or the ribs was my favorite, but it was all tasty and plentiful! I’ve been to BBQ and Smokehouse places where one or two things were good, but this is the first where everything I had was absolutely delicious! And the beers get better every batch. Love the Ridgeline and Sprut.“

The Bayside Oceanfront Resort Lounges • $$$
240 Dogwood St, Parksville

“My second time staying here and can’t wait to be back again! Nancy at front desk is just a gem, got early check in both times as requested, rooms are clean and spacious and nothing beats the balcony and restaurant views! Coffee shop makes amazing drinks and treats and if your lucky in the morning the sweetest dog Casey is in there with his awesome older couple owners and they are so kind to chat with, pool was a great temp but wow it’s cold when your heading back to the dressing rooms in the open air, short safe walkway down to the beach and just a 2 minute drive to almost anything else you might want or need outside of the hotel, my fav hotel on Vancouver island hands down“

“We love this place! I have never had a bad meal there, the service has always been wonderful, and the timing on point- which is a tough thing sometimes when it's only run by 1 or 2 people. The breakfasts are so good and they have the best pancakes I've ever had! Also, I've had some of the most wonderful and authentic conversations spark up with strangers at other tables. This place is a gem and Parksville is lucky to have it serving the community!“

“It was Easter weekend and we had no idea what we were going to do. So we went for a drive and my Girl, aka copilot was searching her phone for a place to stop for a snack and a beer. She came across Fern and Cedar, I asked if we were heading in their direction and as luck would have it we were minutes away. For a busy day, we were seated immediately...awesome.The Waite staff were wonderful, the beers were very tasty and the cheese burger and cod and chips were stellar. We shall return in summer and sit outside.“

“I've had a couple of solid experiences with Rusted Rake. Their brewpub focuses on locally sourced ingredients which is great and skews towards a smaller more curated menu. Couple of minor complaints leaves it short of 5 stars mainly - lack of reservations makes it difficult to get in some times (it's good it is busy!), only having two bathroom stalls can lead to lineups and while the beer is reasonably priced and quite good, the food skews pricey. The chowder is great with a big portion while the gluten free vegan options were better now than they were last year (hummus is a good add). The main dining room is loud and buzzy but can be difficult for those who have trouble hearing. All in all a great add to the area!Vegetarian options: One main veg / vegan / gf main - the falafel - which is a solid option. Other smaller apps as well.“

“Great spot for a good lunch. Pea and ham soup was THE thing for a chilly day. Coconut prawns were about the best I've had. Definitely coming back again in summer so we can eat on the patio. Meanwhile they keep it cozy inside with a couple of cracking woodstoves.“
