“This is a review of Richmond’s Kumare restaurant; the others are in Delta and in Burnaby. Prices are as of July 2025.
I had the Lumpiang Shanghai appetizer (9 deep fried pork spring rolls) for $10.25 and a BBQ pork skewer for $4.75. Both were very good, especially considering their costs. Very interesting sauce in the skewer; it’s not sweet & sour. The server said it was a “Filipino sauce”.
They also have yummy-looking baked goods for sit-down or for takeout.
Highly recommended if you want a change from your regular meals!“

“This is our first time to order from Kuy’s, a whole pig lechon. Firstly, they were right on time as agreed for delivery and then we took the lechon an hour and a half away to an event and everybody enjoyed it immensely. I got to say that it is one of the best lechon I have ever had. Perfectly crispy skin with just right amount of fat in every bite. The meat had good fat and was juicy and well seasoned. Thank you Kuy’s, we will definitely be ordering from you again.“

Always My Go-To for Fresh Tofu!
Impeccable taste. When you walk in, don’t expect fancy decor or flashy presentation—this place is all about the basics done right. Fresh tofu is made right in front of you, and it’s worth the 10–15 minute wait. Great to stroll the neighborhood while it’s being prepared. Simple, authentic, and consistently excellent. Always my go-to spot for fresh tofu!“

“Food was good, i like pansit palabok, i ordered medium size Caldereta for $13 and Diniguan also 13 for take out. The taste were good, and price is reasonable. Not much choices, but it’s worth the visit. They have lechon kawali, looks like a lb per order for only $16. Gotta try that next time. The place is mix sarisari store and carenderia. Also they have kakanin. And there are only 2 big tables and a window counter, where you can also sit, but they have ao much stuffs that make the place so tiny and masikip. Masarap naman pagkain nila, and the person taking orders was very pleasant, serving with a smile, di katulad sa ibang carinderia na ang susungit ng nasa counter.“

“Food:
Overall, the foods were like having a delicious homecooked Filipino feast with generous portions!
I chose a lunch special; they gave an in-house soup as a complimentary appetizer. It does remind me of having a veggie & Chinese shark fin soup, and it does taste great — it compensates my time of waiting for the main course 🍲
Then the pork adobo w/ lumpiang meal combo arrived. They were so savoury, really flavourful, and all well-cooked! Definitely an excellent value and worth the try 🍛 The portion size was like 2 servings worth, so it may be worth bringing a lunch box if eating alone (they charge $1 / container).
Then I had the buko pandan sherbet for dessert. It had just the right amount of sweetness and a nice coconuty creaminess. It's like a milkshake, but Filipino edition. 🍧 Also, it was a tall cup worth nearly 2 servings!
However, my only slight dislike was some handful of bubble tea pearls having the undercooked, gritty texture on their inner-center. I don't mind since that is a tolerable minor issue.
Service:
I went for a one person dine-in. After going through the menu, I waited for over 10 minutes, while seeing a group of patrons who were after me, already being serviced. Then I put my coat on and was about to leave till a server lady quickly attended me—I finally had my order taken. Moreover, the server staff don't really check up on the patrons, so I'd have to grab their attention if I wanted something. But they were cordial nonetheless, since they did, at least, provide the takeout containers as requested. In conclusion, the service can be frustrating at the start even if it's not too busy—from my own experience.“

“The premium Ube cake is the way to go! It deserves a spot being one of the wonders of the world. It is light, fluffy, airy, and full of flavour. It’s like biting into a cloud of bliss! Also tried the Ube chiffon cake but it was mainly a buttercream tasting cake which is not as good as the premium Ube cake but still good. The cakes are well decorated and a beautiful purple color. Would buy again :)“
