Barbara is a hidden gem that deserves its Michelin star. The restaurant serves innovative and delicious food, often featuring fresh local ingredients. The cozy and casual ambiance is part of its charm, with cool old school background music adding to the experience. Meals, such as the vegetarian options like cauliflower and squash risotto, are technically excellent, with unique and different flavors. The 4-person team operates a 16-seat dining establishment, meticulously preparing dishes with perfect presentation. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, engaging in conversations and adjusting the pace of the meal as needed. The bar seating area is a great spot to enjoy a great cocktail and wine selection. While the neighborhood may feel rough to some, the intimate setting and attention to detail make Barbara one of the best restaurants in Vancouver.
The experience at Barbara is a true spectacle. The small, cozy space is welcoming, and the food is IMPRESSIVE. The chef and owner are always attentive and hands-on in the preparation. The restaurant offers a choice of three dishes (vegetarian, fish/seafood, and meat) in each course, allowing diners to sample more of the menu. The food is amazing, and the intimate setting and outstanding service make Barbara highly recommended.
