“Ice Kol Cut is the scumbag that lost the Recording Studio that we now have possession of. you and your stupid Indian have to prove that we Baby Dhal Roti Shop stole that studio. IDIOT. For YOUR info we all deal with rat infestations in the East Side. Common to find rat dropping’s in restaurant food around Vancouver. Looser“

“I have been eating at this place since the Patties were about 65 cents...not quite the prices when they opened in the late 70's but probably pretty close. As per my usual spew, yes the prices have gone up but they still taste damn good. Authentic? I have no clue. I don't think they have ever said much more than hello to me since the late 80's early 90's but I do not care. I show up for the grub.
The wacky, oversized, almost Rodney Graham meets Ron Terada conceptual art-like business card that could double up as a greeting card is a phenomenal part of the experience as is the business card disaster pin board. Realtors and electricians fighting for free ad space, pummeling and poking each other in a thumbtack fight. The faded lithograph printed Jamaica poster is dated but a welcome sight. I just wish they had the 1972 Sintra Bronte Jamaica t-shirt poster....the Usain Bolt printout just isn't doing it. On another side note, the Chalk art chalkboard may be one of the first in the city before Chalk Art started to become a thing. Not a good thing, but still a thing.
Back to the Morse code/reverse Braille coded patties. Delish. Spinach feta and Mild Beef are a guarantee. I could eat a white greasy bag of them and I do. In fact I pick up extra thick plastic bags of their Arawak Industries frozen Jamaican pucks to go!
I have never used the pop machine that sits in their establishment and I have actually never seen anyone use it in all my years there but maybe one day I will. Other than a medium freezer that sits behind the cash register, most of the action is behind the wall. I hope to hear some Dancehall or dub back there, but so far no luck.“

“Super humble spot on the drive. Literally best bang for your buck up the whole street and in my opinion, the city. Their hot sauce is free when you dine in and it’s better than anything you can buy in the stores by 10000x. Seriously, it’s great, be careful though it’s super super spicy even by my standards. There’s not many Jamaican restaurants in the city of vancouver still around. Eating here heals me. If you ever get the chance to, get a plate of jerk chicken from here. If this place ever went out of business I might move countries. Somehow their rice and peas got better in the last few years. Like they’re going uphill here. Not downhill. Been coming since I was a kid and I still don’t eat here enough. RIP Mr. Curry. 🕊️“

“Hubby saw a series in Mikey Chan’s Strictly Dumplings on Youtube. So we checked it out, located in Presidential Plaza 2nd Floor food court. The food court is small, we ordered takeout. Line was long but it moves pretty fast. Their pork hock was their specialty and they had freshly prepackaged to go meal in a container. It was that fast & efficient.
The pork hock was tender & very flavourful, for $15, it was a steal. It came with rice drenched in that wonderful dark piggy sauce, a braised egg, sautéed potatoes strips & glass noodles & pickled marinated green long beans. The pickled green long beans paired very nicely with the dish. The portion was so big that it was a 2 meal deal for us. Highly recommend… !
You won’t be disappointed!“

“Quaint place! Best jerk chicken I’ve ever had. Layers and layers of flavour. Not a trace of bottled jerk sauce like other places but the spices and flavours are in every bite. The chicken falls off the bone. Beef patty was also great.“
