The 5 star rating is to help them recover from a fire over the weekend. Hope they are up and running again soon for everyone's sake, especially the displaced residents of the SRO above them.
In mid- August, a guy in our building recommended Gain Wah to us and since he was of Chinese heritage, we gave his recommendation a lot of credibility. There were four of us and we ordered 10 dishes with the rice and noodles included. None of the dishes, not the shrimp, beef, chicken, mushrooms nor other vegetable dishes was memorable or rave- worthy. We were all disappointed.

Still closed, probably still recovering from the fire. I don't know why Google says it is open. I prefer this place over New Town Restaurant for hot, cooked food because of the portion size, affordability, and taste.
