“Food is gorgeous and delicious. This is city jewel for Shanghainese cuisine. It’s not as expensive as some Shanghai restaurants in town while quality of food is beyond expectation. Authentic Shanghainese cuisine as well as some spicy SiChuan dishes. Highly recommend - food!“

“My friends dad took 5 of us here for dinner since he's been a regular here for many years. Very busy here on a Friday night with ppl still lining up at the door on a heavy rainy night. Everything we ordered was delicious. The one dish I've never tried was the salted pork on rice in stone pot. Very tasty. I definitely will bring my wife and kids here one day.“

“Okay y’all, life is all about: happiness = reality - expectations. Don’t expect too much in terms of cleanliness and service, that’s not the authentic Chinese experience. Think of it more as a hole-in-the-wall than a fancy restaurant. It’s clean enough and service is good enough.
Most importantly, the food is good enough. It’s actually very flavourful and tasty. It can err on the heavier side and it’s a bit oily for my taste, but I can see others really loving it for the same reason. I would still recommend giving it a try if you’re in the area, and I would probably come back for the wontons and pork chop. They are quite busy and popular, and the people running it are working hard. Just don’t expect too much and you’ll be pleasantly satisfied ☺️“

“I’ve been trying to give this place a try for a long time. Between the limited hours of operations and my busy work life, it’s been long awaited to get here. I personally love XLB so this was a must try spot for me since many have told me I had to try it.
Quality - the food is all made fresh as you order. So this also means you don’t want to visit here if you are in a rush. You should expect a 20MIN wait before food Is presented to you upon sitting down. The food quality is well made overall. The pan fried buns were a tad more burnt than I’d like personally and the XLB flavour is not my preference. But it doesn’t takeaway from how well they are made which is why I still give it a 4 star even if the flavours aren’t my preference.
Service - the staff overall were all friendly and attentive. No issues at all with how they were. But for those who want speed, this place is not it. They even have a sign to pre-warn you. (I was okay with saying as I wasn’t super hungry)
Cleanliness - The restaurant was fairly clean considering the age of the space.
Overall I think people in the area should give it a try if they are open. But i personally have other favorite places in town out of just sheer flavour.“

“Spent a few hours in the Crystal Mall on a Wednesday, and was so disappointed to see that Shanghai Dim Sum was closed for the day, my favorite XLB shop.Oh well, we ate some other delicious things, the standout was the shengjian bao, pan fried pork buns from Shanghai Fortune Cuisine. It was lined up and everyone in the rooms seemed to be eating them.Wow, they were good. Crispy on the bottom, tender on top, full of soup and pork. Delicious. Staff is friendly too!I think I found a new favorite.“

“Vancouver's most delicious vegetable and meat wonton stew is reported almost every day after get off work, and it has become a regular canteen. The fried dough sticks are also very crispy, and the meat fillings in the xiaolongbao and pan-fried buns are really good! (I really don’t like sweet meat fillings, but the seasoning here is really good) btw the aunt at the cashier has a super nice attitude!!“

“Highly recommend this place for their pan fried pork buns!! It was worth the little wait. The quantity is good for the price, a bargain compared to fancy restaurants. Just trust the lineup and popularity of this food court! Be careful with the hot juice inside the dimsum, they even have a sign to warn customers. They make the food in front of the customers so you can see how fresh and legit this is!“

“We ordered the dan dan noodles (spicy), fried bean-paste noodles, and wontons in chili sauce. I had high expectations for the fried bean-paste noodles and wontons, but surprisingly, the dan dan noodles ended up being our favorite. I’m usually not a big fan of dan dan noodles, but these were very creamy, nutty, and moreish! They weren’t spicy for us, though.
The lady who took our order seemed a bit concerned that two of us were ordering three dishes, but I didn’t find the portion sizes overly large—three dishes were just right without making us feel too full.
Overall, I really enjoyed their food and would love to come back to try other dishes.
One thing to note: they only accept cash, not even debit, so come prepared!“
