2026 June update: Things have really gone downhill since I first visited 9 years ago. You really get the sense that they stopped trying. Whether it’s the oily fish, the slopped nachos or the $4+ Buble soda water, the overall experience was like a Brooklyn coffee shop. I know it’s east Van but dingey, overpriced, unkempt (and dare I say - entitled) just doesn’t do it.

Really delicious
Stinky! I love their food, but prefer taking out. The odor in this establishment is consistently unappetizing. Service and food is on a slow decline, but still quite good. I sure don’t like to think where the funky smell is coming from..

Based on recent reviews, Tacofino Hastings offers amazing tacos, including Tuna, steak, and chicken karagge tacos, plus chips and guacamole. The nachos are absolutely delicious and everything is fresh. The atmosphere is great, with cool lighting, and the staff is super friendly. However, there are significant issues. The restaurant has a consistently unappetizing odor, with a funky smell and a bad washroom smell. Things have gone downhill since earlier visits, with oily fish, slopped nachos, and overpriced Buble soda water. The service and food are on a slow decline. The meagre portion of tater tots is served in a wrong-sized bowl. Other locations seem more tightly run. While the food is still good for some, the experience is dingey, overpriced, and unkempt.
