50 Best Mexican Restaurants in Vancouver

“I gave this place a try after finding my favorite authentic Mexican restaurant on Broadway closed. This spot had a lot of great reviews, and I can see why. It is primarily a grocery shop specializing in Mexican condiments and products at the front, but they also serve street-style tacos from a tiny counter in the far back behind the cash register. It’s meant for quick eats or takeout, with just a small side counter to sit. It is not a full sit-down dine-in experience like the restaurant right next door (which is easy to confuse it with at first glance).

The owner is very task-oriented and focused, but professional and efficient at getting orders out quickly. If you're looking for great, quick tacos, this is probably the closest to traditional street-style that I’m aware of in the area.

The tacos themselves were excellent. Even though they are highly authentic in their preparation, I wouldn't let that scare anyone away over worries about heat. I’m quite used to spicy food, but even when their hottest salsa was generously applied on my request, I barely noticed any kick. Therefore, I don't think the average person will need to worry about the spice level being overwhelming here.

“This place has the very best burrito in all of Vancouver and I’ve tried them all. Their ingredients are so fresh. Everything is just perfect and the customization is incredible. The price is also really really good especially if you use their app to order the food. They’ll even give you reward points plus a discount on top of that. You can’t go wrong with this place. Gotta try it if you haven’t been there before.“

“Popped in for breakfast and was well impressed. The staff are lovely, the two girls front of house were very welcoming and kindly gave me a free ticket for the museum, which was a top-tier bonus. Food-wise, you get a proper generous portion and the flavours are spot on. My only gripe is that the coffee was a bit miniscule. Tasted good, but gone in two sips! Definitely worth a visit though.“

“Went for their all day Tuesday Taco Platter! Was worth the price, and the flavors were all definitely there. They didn't skimp out on the meat either! I'm not very picky when it comes to tacos, as long as it's well seasoned and and flavorful! So personally, I really enjoyed it and will definitely be back again. I loved one of their sauces, it was the spiciest one that was also sweet, it was soo good!

Just one note: the beef in the asada tacos were a bit dry, but the portions and adding the sauces made up for it. Overall, delish! 🩷“

“Great addition to the Granville strip. We enjoyed our time here. Recommend the Molcajete Mexicano and the Del Trompo a tu Trompa. Desserts including the churro were all fabulous. Portions were pretty decent and we were full and still had a big take away box. The server was such a sweetheart and really attentive. Will definitely be back and bring friends once covid is over.“

“i want to start off by saying that the service was truly worth ten million stars — didn’t get his name, but the guy working at the bar was so kind, a fantastic conversationalist, and really made the entire experience worth it. hoWever, the food didn’t really hit the mark for me , especially considering the price tag .

the only dish i reaLly enjoyed and do recommend getting is the bone marrow tacos. it’s a ridiculously indulgent and decadent bite , overflowing with tender, fatty chunks of steak and bombarded with the richness and butteriness of the bone marrow. the acidity of the mayo and fresh crunch of the onions did a pretty good job of cutting through the heavy flavours too, and i liked how well the soft, chewy flour tortillas subtly complemented it and held everything together. it’s definitely quite a messy eat — the oily juices of the steak, mingling with the condiments and slightly gooey melted cheese, just absolutely dripping everywhere .

the ribeye de chicharron fell very flat for me (at least compared to the pUnch of richness and flavourfulness bone marrow tacos). the chunks of ribeye steak were drier and tougher, the fried balls of chicharron were interesting but just tasted like mildly flavoured crusted cheddar cheese bites to me, and the consistency and overall bland flavours of the guacamole and refried beans were a bit fatiguing for me . i did like the warm corn tortillas that it came with though !

the tres leches dessert was pretty good (dessert is hard to mess up) — it’s a super duper moist cake absolutely SOAKED in sweet, refreshing, cold milk, topped with some light whipped cream and a very tart, quite sour berry compote.“

“Stumbled in last Saturday after a long morning of exploring Gastown and the horchata alone was worth stopping for. The space is small but well put-together, with hand-painted tiles behind the counter that give it a genuinely lived-in feel rather than the usual faux-rustic aesthetic you see in so many spots trying too hard. Staff were attentive without hovering, which as someone who eats out constantly I appreciate more than most people realize.
