The staff were good. That was all. I phoned ahead and asked about vegetarian options. I was assured there were some. Turned out to be limited to bread, cheese, olives and crudites. If you are a vegetarian you will starve. The red wines by the glass were no better than diluted soda pop. The lamb was woefully under cooked. The knife was hardly up to the task of creating bit sized pieces. The cook should be retrained or replaced. The background sound system struggled early...read full review

Bistrot L'Stage is a wonderful gem with a European feel and lots of bike parking, a neighborhood fave that is a must. The service is outstanding, personalized, and friendly, with staff that is the right amount of attentive. The atmosphere is beautiful, and the vibe in Fernwood is so chill. The food is incredibly fresh, excellent, and incredible, with locally sourced ingredients. The happy hour menu is perfect, the stuffed olives are 11/10, and the dirty martini is delectable with the largest olives. The bartender even makes his own vermouth and liqueurs. Wines are amazing, and the wine/cocktail list satisfies all tastes. It is by far the favourite restaurant in Victoria, better than most restaurants in Vancouver. The moment one steps foot in the door, it feels transported to another place entirely. From a burger and a beer for happy hour to a three course menu designed by the chef, they do it all.
