“Had a blast here. The owner was spectacularly passionate about board games and made everything fun. Right now, the prices at Board with Friends TOO cheap, not sure how they stay in business? Hopefully they will raise it later. Take advantage of it while you can!“
“Location is perfect, ambiance is fantastic. Food was absolute fire. I had the Louis Steelhead and holy cow - had to be easily the best salmon dish I've ever had. Portions were perfect. Servers appeared slightly unkempt - felt like they could've dressed nicer - but who am I to judge. Will go again.“
“Tried it out for the first time yesterday, and it has rocketed into my top recommendations for Victoria. Nice, unpretentious vibe. Definitely laid-back and hipster, not fine dining. Would be a great place to meet with friends for drinks and happy hour. The food is absolutely spectacular. One of the best selections of oysters I’ve had in a restaurant (including places like Araxi) and reasonably priced (I will definitely come back for their two dollar happy hour oyster shucks.) The absolute star was the Wu-Tang clams. My wife loved the lobster roll as well.Cocktails were well thought out options that pair well with their dishes, but I think I would stick with their reasonably priced wine and beer list.Almost everything on the menu is seafood. If you bring someone who doesn’t eat it or is allergic there is a salad and a cheeseburger as options for them but that’s it.“
“L'Apero catered our professional event today and to say the food was outstanding is an understatement. Deliciously fresh and inviting, top quality ingredients and excellent service. Some really wonderful and unanticipated additions (honeycomb, figs, sugared cranberries) The pate and cheese was to die for. The entire staff were blown away. Thank you for such an amazing lunch!“
“Perfectly crafted cocktails and, equally as important to me, perfectly crafted menu designed to help you find exactly what you're looking for. Cozy space with low lighting and music kept at a low volume so we were able to enjoy our conversation. Check out the clear ice cube with the monogramed H.“
“The food was so fun and delicious. We got 4 tapas for two and it was plenty. This place is a foodies dream. Everything was wonderful but DO NOT leave without getting the ceviche and the carrots with tahini. (Note for the chef: I wish the ceviche was with something other than potato chips)“
“"鮨" in "Erya Shiqi" means "fish is called 鮨." It means another name for fish. The Chinese pronunciation is "ㄑㄧˊ" and the Japanese pronunciation is "すし (SUSHI)". Such elegant ancient characters start a surprise for your taste buds! The lunch set is about $20. The fried chicken has a soft and crispy outer skin, and the tender gravy pops out of your mouth when you bite it effortlessly. It is truly a small blessing. The presentation of the side dishes, sushi, and fruits were all excellent, and I was filled with joy!“
“A great hidden gem in Victoria there 7 course menu was too die for. Service was outstanding and definitely worth going again. The vibe and atmosphere feels casual fine dining and definitely worth a visit if you are in Victoria. One con it's maybe hard to find a way in but its through Ferris upstairs and the server will take you through a restaurant to your seat inside.“
“Happy hour until 6!!!! Great daily specials, big ol’ mug of Sapporo for $6 during happy hour. Honestly my favourite Korean fried chicken spot in town, not too rich. The fries are surprisingly my favourite fries of any place in town. This is the kind of place that should be packed and full of people.“
“I had the braised pork belly with polenta and black kale as an appetizer. The main course was duck confit which was good but only came with par boiled rice. Dessert was excellent. It was sticky toffee pudding but a little too much sugar. Overall I recommend this restaurant as a quaint little getaway in the heart of Royal Oak.“
“Nestled in a hotel, it would have been easy to miss walking by but the service and food was amazing. The team behind the restaurant is super friendly and accommodating. Back home and I’m still thinking about this mushroom pasta they have on their lunch menu. 10/10“
“Happened upon this absolute gem of a place. Greeted by the owner at the door. Food was unreal and the drinks just as great. The tacos were incredible as was the chicken burger!! For the love of god try the blackberry sour!!Will be back regularly!“
“We had a surprise 50th Anniversary party there with 70+ people and everything was perfect. Staff was great and the food was delicious. I would recommend the Rack to all my friends and family. Jasmine and Cole have got this down pat. 5 out of 5“
“Vista 18 has the best view out of all the restaurants on Vancouver Island. Absolutely stunning sun sets, cityscapes and the Olympic Mountains make for an unforgettable evening. Our server was a gentleman named Drew with excellent product knowledge of the restaurants food and wine. Drew was a lot of fun with quick wit and positive energy. We are eager to return for the seared tuna, we will be requesting Drew for laughs and great service.“
“Food was excellent. My Morrocan spiced bison was rare and fork tender. The Ling cod was nicely seasoned and cooked perfectly. The wine choice suggested was a good choice, not overpowering but complimentary for a white. The atmosphere was good but a bit more noisy than I would have liked. The service was very good. All the staff answered questions and service was quick and unobtrusive. It was 'dine around' time and we chose to select from the special menu. However, we were tempted with the regular menu. Another visit is in store to sample the regular menu. Wine and drink pairing suggestions are listed on the menu as well.“
“My friend and I came for dinner on Tuesday evening and absolutely loved it. The food was tasty and the vibes were great. Service was on the slow side, but our server was very friendly and knowledgeable (we had lots of questions) so we didn’t mind. Definitely will be coming back!“
“Excellent establishment and outstanding staff! The menu and fusion of the different dishes are absolutely amazing. Nestled in an eclectic venue in the heart of Victoria’s historic downtown particularly as the sun is setting, the Block Kitchen & Bar makes for a perfect date night.“
