“A true hidden gem for Italian food!

Conclusion first: the food is much better than the drinks.

Here are the dishes I enjoyed:

⭐ Burrata & Rhubarb – The creamy, milky burrata paired with sweet-and-sour rhubarb was such a pleasant surprise. We ended up ordering the focaccia to soak up every last bit.

⭐ White Anchovy Toast – Not fishy at all! The anchovies were tender and juicy with a bright lemony flavor. The vegetables underneath added a nice fresh touch.

⭐ Vitello Tonnato – I’m used to veal being breaded and fried, but here it was cooked sous vide, making it incredibly tender and juicy. The only downside was that the tuna sauce tasted a little fishy when eaten on its own.

⭐ Ricotta Agnolotti – I originally ordered this because of the spot prawns, but the agnolotti completely stole the show. Each bite was filled with creamy ricotta and was absolutely delicious.

The only dish I wouldn’t order again:

⭐ Ling Cod – The portion was much larger than what you usually get at other restaurants, but unfortunately the fish was quite tough in texture. It tasted like previously frozen fish. The clams were enormous, but they were a bit chewy as well.

🍸 Cocktails: Overall, they were just average, though the prices were reasonable (all under $20). My least favorite was the Fumo Dolce. It was described as being infused with peach tea, but the flavor tasted quite artificial. None of the cocktails were particularly memorable.

Overall, we had a great experience. The service was warm, the atmosphere was lovely, and the food really impressed us. I’d definitely come back to try the seasonal menu when it changes.“

“Rude server - My wife's first experience going out after giving birth. The male server peaked over her shoulder while she paid and made a rude comment when he saw she tipped 'only' 15% on a $20 cocktail. Completely ruined her night. Train your staff better.“

The entire experience was exceptional, and the food was perfect from start to finish.We had the red wine braised short rib of beef from Double R Ranch — it melted in my mouth and the flavor was out of this world. We started with the scallops and smoked bison tartare, both of which were outstanding.For other mains, we enjoyed the wood grilled lamb, the Hank tenderloin steak, the Wagyu beef picanha from Brant Lake Farm in Alberta, Blue Dot Beef in Prince Edward Island striploin (10 oz). They were all amazing. The Blue Dot had incredible flavor — juicy, tender, and hands down the best steak I’ve ever had. Every steak was beautifully cooked and packed with flavor.We finished the evening with trying ALL THE DESSERTS! The baked Alaska was beautiful and delicious! The ice cream trio was so creamy and rich. The creme brûlée was smooth and dreamy. The chocolate cake was moist and perfectly matched with the passionfruit sauce. The fam favorite was definitely the cheesecake… we were all wanting it! Perfect flavor not too sweet and very smooth. Blackberries were a perfect match. We also had the donuts.. don’t forget about those. Im still dreaming of them. Highly recommend — a truly unforgettable meal!“

“We hosted our wedding weekend welcome party at Courtside and it was the greatest celebration imaginable! The food and drinks were fantastic, the decor and music perfectly to our vibe, but most of all the staff were joyful, accommodating and went above and beyond to curate the best party ever. If you love sports and good times you will LOVE this bar. Our friends and family were blown away but the incredible assortment of memorabilia and the high quality of everything inside. We definitely kept their bartenders busy but they worked with a smile on their faces and so much energy all night.“

“We had a wonderful dining experience at Croquette Brasserie. Our waiter was both helpful and charming, adding a personal touch to the evening. We started with the moules-frites, sharing the mussels and fries as an appetizer. The dish was outstanding—perfectly cooked mussels paired with crisp, golden fries. For our main course, we chose pasta sourced from their sister restaurant, Fiore Famiglia, which happens to be our long-time favorite neighborhood Italian spot. As expected, the pasta was impeccable, showcasing the quality and flavors we’ve come to love. A special highlight was the crème brûlée, torched at our table by the waiter. Watching the caramelized sugar form into a crackling, golden crust was such a treat, and the result was as delicious as it was entertaining. The ambiance was made even better by live music from "Van Django," an incredible violin and guitar duo. Their lively and romantic performance elevated the evening to something truly magical. “We were craving kalamari. Googled and found nostos. Boy, was this a revelation. By far the best Greek food I've ever had. And I've been eating g Greek food in Vancouver since 1980. Home style cooking; pork souvlaki was sooooo delicious. Kalamari, light and crispy, Greek salad was elegant w flavours popping in my mouth. Dessert was to die for. And most importantly, we felt like guests eating g at the owners home. Vasili and his mom were the nicest hosts you could ever ask for.

Pros: Wonderful attentive bartender even when they were short staffed, delicious pizza (we had the spicy one) and risotto (we had the zucchini one), great location right across the street from Orpheum.

Con (there’s only one!): Not enough non alcoholic options for us non-drinkers. In 2026 there are an increasing number of folks choosing non-alcoholic, and the menu had two mocktails and one mediocre 0% beer option. Might be good for this lovely little gem to offer more creative mocktails and some 0 wines. The bartender was kind enough to make me something off-menu which was pretty ok.

We tried Arancini and Calamari; but the real star were the pizzas: I strongly recommend their Chorizo & Chilly honey (whipped ricotta gives it a great balance), and definitely their version of Margherita, simple and very tasty. Everything was delicious, including the Salmon Soba, Truffle Udon, Pork Tomahawk, A5 Wagyu courses shared between our family of four to the tasty desserts. “My boyfriend an I were looking for a place to dine while walking around Gastown when we came across Al Porto. We entered and where greeted by the waiter SIXTO. He made us feel very welcomed and took care of us. We had the lasagna which was excellent and the calamari which we found to be very chewy and tough. Not properly prepared. We ordered Molson Canadian beer and where told that we don’t carry it. SIXTO recommended we try The Kokanee beer which was comparable. We where offered the dessert menu but declined and had another Kokanee. Overall experience was good with exceptional service from our waiter. Will defiantly return to this restaurant next time we are visiting Vancouver.“
