“I've walked by this place numerous times and there was always a line out the door with a 45+ minute wait.I should've bought a lottery ticket this morning because there wasn't a line and I was seated immediately. About 5 minutes after being seated, the crowd arrived and the line out the door was more than 20 people long. The staff was nice, friendly and very professional.Though everyone says to order their waffles, I opted for the Sandwich au Roti de Boeuf (braised short ribs sandwich). The braised ribs, arugula and sunny side up egg were like a symphony of flavor.Their mocha is rich, smooth and creamy, exactly what you'd expect when using beans from 49th Parallel Coffee.Definitely recommend.“

The Wine Bar at Provence Marinaside Wine Bar • $$
1167 Marinaside Crescent, Vancouver

“I live near this wine bar, so I've passed it a gazillion times over the past 4-5 years, always meaning to try it out. They've a lovely patio facing the seawall, and especially in the summer, it looks so inviting, and patrons often bring their dogs, and I just love the whole vibe. In the winter, too, it always looks like people are enjoying themselves here, with the warm lighting and twinkling lights. Since this wine bar is attached to the restaurant Provence, I've often passed here and heard live jazz musicians and singers who perform certain nights of the week, and man, they sound GOOD. It just always felt like this would be a super place to mellow out, have a glass of good wine, relax with friends, either on a summer day or at night, any season. I finally got to check it out in person today. I went with a friend for a drink mid-day, sitting outside. The weather was lovely, and it was a perfect day. Carmen was our server and she was great. I appreciated how knowledgable she was regarding all the wine and cocktail selections. My friend had a glass of white wine which she loved, and I had an amazing cocktail with lavender and rose. They have a decent happy hour selection which, unfortunately, we were too early to partake of. Their regular wine menu is extremely extensive. What a great neighborhood place! Will definitely return.“

“Love the location, super cozy feeling upon entry! Super friendly staff. We ordered quite a few dishes to try between 3 adults and 1 child. We had burrata overload but who doesn't love some good burrata?!?Our personal favourite between the four pastas we ordered was the SPAGHETTI AMALFI ! We really enjoyed the squid ink pasta, the burrata just added extra OOMPH!We were really excited for the PAPPARDELLE “ROCHE ROCHE” but the spaghetti Amalfi really stole the show. I personally thought the pappardelle tasted OK maybe would be a bit better with a spicy sausage/sauce?All the pastas were cooked al dente, which was very nice.We thought the SPAGHETTI CARBONARA was alright and the BEEF RAVIOLI was underwhelming.Which was a bit surprising considering those were the two suggestioned from our server. However the bottle of red wine she suggested was lovely.Personally did not like the tiramisu but I think it's just personal preference on texture!Overall, the experience was good. Would definitely come back and sit at their cute patio!Kid-friendliness: Big comfy cushions, kid friendly!“

“UPDATE: I connected with Miranda over the past weekend, where she gave me the closure that I wanted. While I'd rather not go into full detail about what closure she gave me, that's enough to get me to return voluntarily. And in cases where I'm hanging out with friends, not do the bare minimum of ordering water or a basic soda.-----------------------ORIGINAL REVIEW:Came here for a happy hour with about 11 other people that doubled as a birthday party.Tater tots taste like something I can air fry at home on my own. The strawberry lychee burst looks better than it tastes, as both the tea and lychee flavours are non-existent. You can get better tasting tea sodas at a bubble tea place. You also get more for the same price!Service is iffy. The server was quick to take our order for me and a friend who showed up early, and get that to us ASAP. But she seems to lack the sense of urgency after the other 9 people gradually showed up. I noticed that she would take others' plates, but would ignore my empty tater tot and drink cups. She didn't ask me how everything was tasting. She also didn't bring plates and forks for the birthday cake until it was too late (and even so, they were on hot plates which is a no-no for desserts). But she has time to chat with the bartenders and other patrons???(Meanwhile, the bussers and management were great at filling water.)What irritates me was how the server tacked on a 20% service fee, which isn't on the restaurant website nor explained to us at the start. This is _not_ service worth a 20% tip. Maybe at best, 7-9% (enough to cover tip-out), but not 20%.Very unlikely that I'd return back on my own anytime. Or if I'm dragged here for a social event, just get a water or soda.“
