“First time dining at Kypriaki Restaurant, and we had such a great time! The food was delicious, and the lunch deal of the 1/2 Chicken Souvlaki was well-plated. The portion was spot on. If youre able to book a table by the window youll enjoy stunning views of Vancouver and of course, the mountain youre sitting on. “My experience at Is That French was lovely. I took my parents here for their birthdays, and they were amazed by the thought and detail that went into both the food and wine selection. You could truly taste the quality of every ingredient and the care the chefs put into every plate. The wine was also outstanding. The one thing I would point out is that the space is unfortunately not very accessible for wheelchair users or older guests with mobility limitations. Thankfully, my dad uses a rollator, so he was able to manage the first few steps while we carried his rollator upstairs, but no one offered assistance. Our waitress was kind and did her best to accommodate him once we entered the restaurant, but it was clear that the space itself presents some accessibility challenges. My dad also mentioned that although there is an accessible bathroom, it didn't have grab bars. The seating was another challenge for my parents, as the chairs have no backs or cushions, which made it quite uncomfortable for them. Other than that, we had a really nice experience. Our server was incredible. I only wish that spaces like this could be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of age or physical ability. I hope these are things the restaurant might consider improving in the future, because the food and experience truly deserve to be accessible to more people.“

After being seated, walk up to the counter and have your palate satisfied with one of the many bottles that are opened or have one opened for you based on your thirst and desire. This is an excellent place to explore a journey through endless glasses of wine that are reasonably priced considering their unique and vast selection. Bar Tartare also features a new Chef every month!

“A true hidden gem for Italian food!

Conclusion first: the food is much better than the drinks.

Here are the dishes I enjoyed:

⭐ Burrata & Rhubarb – The creamy, milky burrata paired with sweet-and-sour rhubarb was such a pleasant surprise. We ended up ordering the focaccia to soak up every last bit.

⭐ White Anchovy Toast – Not fishy at all! The anchovies were tender and juicy with a bright lemony flavor. The vegetables underneath added a nice fresh touch.

⭐ Vitello Tonnato – I’m used to veal being breaded and fried, but here it was cooked sous vide, making it incredibly tender and juicy. The only downside was that the tuna sauce tasted a little fishy when eaten on its own.

⭐ Ricotta Agnolotti – I originally ordered this because of the spot prawns, but the agnolotti completely stole the show. Each bite was filled with creamy ricotta and was absolutely delicious.

The only dish I wouldn’t order again:

⭐ Ling Cod – The portion was much larger than what you usually get at other restaurants, but unfortunately the fish was quite tough in texture. It tasted like previously frozen fish. The clams were enormous, but they were a bit chewy as well.

🍸 Cocktails: Overall, they were just average, though the prices were reasonable (all under $20). My least favorite was the Fumo Dolce. It was described as being infused with peach tea, but the flavor tasted quite artificial. None of the cocktails were particularly memorable.

Overall, we had a great experience. The service was warm, the atmosphere was lovely, and the food really impressed us. I’d definitely come back to try the seasonal menu when it changes.“

“Shayla, our server, was absolutely amazing! She explained the menu thoroughly and made excellent recommendations that we were glad to try. The entire experience was exceptional, and the food was perfect from start to finish.We had the red wine braised short rib of beef from Double R Ranch — it melted in my mouth and the flavor was out of this world. We started with the scallops and smoked bison tartare, both of which were outstanding.For other mains, we enjoyed the wood grilled lamb, the Hank tenderloin steak, the Wagyu beef picanha from Brant Lake Farm in Alberta, Blue Dot Beef in Prince Edward Island striploin (10 oz). They were all amazing. The Blue Dot had incredible flavor — juicy, tender, and hands down the best steak I’ve ever had. Every steak was beautifully cooked and packed with flavor.We finished the evening with trying ALL THE DESSERTS! The baked Alaska was beautiful and delicious! The ice cream trio was so creamy and rich. The creme brûlée was smooth and dreamy. The chocolate cake was moist and perfectly matched with the passionfruit sauce. The fam favorite was definitely the cheesecake… we were all wanting it! Perfect flavor not too sweet and very smooth. Blackberries were a perfect match. We also had the donuts.. don’t forget about those. Im still dreaming of them. Highly recommend — a truly unforgettable meal!“

“We hosted our wedding weekend welcome party at Courtside and it was the greatest celebration imaginable! The food and drinks were fantastic, the decor and music perfectly to our vibe, but most of all the staff were joyful, accommodating and went above and beyond to curate the best party ever. If you love sports and good times you will LOVE this bar. Our friends and family were blown away but the incredible assortment of memorabilia and the high quality of everything inside. We definitely kept their bartenders busy but they worked with a smile on their faces and so much energy all night.“

I think there are better places for more bang for your buck but if you are looking for high quality meat, this place has a lot of variety. Pros: Wonderful attentive bartender even when they were short staffed, delicious pizza (we had the spicy one) and risotto (we had the zucchini one), great location right across the street from Orpheum.

Con (there’s only one!): Not enough non alcoholic options for us non-drinkers. In 2026 there are an increasing number of folks choosing non-alcoholic, and the menu had two mocktails and one mediocre 0% beer option. Might be good for this lovely little gem to offer more creative mocktails and some 0 wines. The bartender was kind enough to make me something off-menu which was pretty ok.

“We just walked over for dinner after the Raptors game at Roger's Arena. This is one of my favorite spot of Tap & Barrel. Last time we sat outside at the ground level patio which is very nice. This time the hostess brought us upstairs and the dining area was surprising nice too as it has outdoor balcony. Food was as good as always and our waitress is fabulous. Hopefully next time we have a chance to sit at the 2nd floor balcony.“

“My boyfriend an I were looking for a place to dine while walking around Gastown when we came across Al Porto. We entered and where greeted by the waiter SIXTO. He made us feel very welcomed and took care of us. We had the lasagna which was excellent and the calamari which we found to be very chewy and tough. Not properly prepared. We ordered Molson Canadian beer and where told that we don’t carry it. SIXTO recommended we try The Kokanee beer which was comparable. We where offered the dessert menu but declined and had another Kokanee. Overall experience was good with exceptional service from our waiter. Will defiantly return to this restaurant next time we are visiting Vancouver.“
