“Food choices on the menu are a nice change to all the usual options on other restaurant menus in the area. Best sausages you'll find in Vancouver and probably whole of BC.
Nice and cozy in there with a great atmosphere. The staff are awesome, very nice people, good beers, always got the games on the screens and decent prices.
This place has it all, well worth checking out“

“Nice environment. Very small portions of good food. Servers friendly and attentive, over-explaining each dish, trying very hard to be upscale in presentation and quality. Nice of staff recognize our anniversary. Conservative cancellation policy. Overall a good experience.“

“What a great find! Tucked down Blood Alley, with a ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ entrance, Is That French is a hidden gem. Loads of excellent wines by the glass, and really terrific food. Jessie, our server was an absolute delight. Friendly, knowledgeable and charming, she made some excellent wine and food recommendations. Thank you!“

“Starting with the cocktail - paisley park - very well balanced, fresh and not sweet. Scallop crudo is refreshing. Sable fish - cream sauce, chips, everything just comes perfectly together. We had to order sourdough (the butter is amazing) just to soak up and finish the sauce. Lamb shoulder - it was too fatty for my liking. Chocolate dessert is dense and delicious. Come with 3-4 people so you can order everything and share everything.“

“A true hidden gem for Italian food!
Conclusion first: the food is much better than the drinks.
Here are the dishes I enjoyed:
⭐ Burrata & Rhubarb – The creamy, milky burrata paired with sweet-and-sour rhubarb was such a pleasant surprise. We ended up ordering the focaccia to soak up every last bit.
⭐ White Anchovy Toast – Not fishy at all! The anchovies were tender and juicy with a bright lemony flavor. The vegetables underneath added a nice fresh touch.
⭐ Vitello Tonnato – I’m used to veal being breaded and fried, but here it was cooked sous vide, making it incredibly tender and juicy. The only downside was that the tuna sauce tasted a little fishy when eaten on its own.
⭐ Ricotta Agnolotti – I originally ordered this because of the spot prawns, but the agnolotti completely stole the show. Each bite was filled with creamy ricotta and was absolutely delicious.
The only dish I wouldn’t order again:
⭐ Ling Cod – The portion was much larger than what you usually get at other restaurants, but unfortunately the fish was quite tough in texture. It tasted like previously frozen fish. The clams were enormous, but they were a bit chewy as well.
🍸 Cocktails: Overall, they were just average, though the prices were reasonable (all under $20). My least favorite was the Fumo Dolce. It was described as being infused with peach tea, but the flavor tasted quite artificial. None of the cocktails were particularly memorable.
Overall, we had a great experience. The service was warm, the atmosphere was lovely, and the food really impressed us. I’d definitely come back to try the seasonal menu when it changes.“

“Rude server - My wife's first experience going out after giving birth. The male server peaked over her shoulder while she paid and made a rude comment when he saw she tipped 'only' 15% on a $20 cocktail. Completely ruined her night. Train your staff better.“

“Love Bar Tartare! One of my new favorite restaurants/wine bars — absolutely perfect for a casual night out with friends. The staff were so kind and I found it very convenient being able to just order whenever you were ready up at the counter. The rotating chef/menu concept is fantastic and I love that they typically source local, in-season ingredients. Not to mention the vibe is just unmatched both indoors and outside on their patio.
The current menu by Alan Older was absolutely fantastic! I truly wish I could’ve tried everything. We had the butter lettuce salad w/ rhubarb + mustard vinaigrette, half roast chicken w/ potatoes + lemon jus, asparagus + mint + parm tagliatelle, and the cheesecake. Everything was super simple but so incredibly well excecuted. The absolute perfect spring meal! The wine options are also always great!
Would highly recommend!“

“Shayla, our server, was absolutely amazing! She explained the menu thoroughly and made excellent recommendations that we were glad to try. The entire experience was exceptional, and the food was perfect from start to finish. We had the red wine braised short rib of beef from Double R Ranch — it melted in my mouth and the flavor was out of this world. We started with the scallops and smoked bison tartare, both of which were outstanding. For other mains, we enjoyed the wood grilled lamb, the Hank tenderloin steak, the Wagyu beef picanha from Brant Lake Farm in Alberta, Blue Dot Beef in Prince Edward Island striploin (10 oz). They were all amazing. The Blue Dot had incredible flavor — juicy, tender, and hands down the best steak I’ve ever had. Every steak was beautifully cooked and packed with flavor. We finished the evening with trying ALL THE DESSERTS! The baked Alaska was beautiful and delicious! The ice cream trio was so creamy and rich. The creme brûlée was smooth and dreamy. The chocolate cake was moist and perfectly matched with the passionfruit sauce. The fam favorite was definitely the cheesecake… we were all wanting it! Perfect flavor not too sweet and very smooth. Blackberries were a perfect match. We also had the donuts.. don’t forget about those. Im still dreaming of them. Highly recommend — a truly unforgettable meal!“

“A very good Resturant
Atmosphere is great. Comfortable and not smoky or u feel I have to change cloths right afterward
They do have a locker for guest to use to store your stuff which is great.
High end decoration with few table serving 4-6 guests, a semi private partitioned table for somen privacy if needed
We sit at the U shaped bar table where each guest have their own bbq set. Pretty good and clean.
Staff a very nice and helpful and explain each steps needed and even help u cook if needed
We are here on a week day dinner and not busy. Heard they are always full in weekend so plan ahead
One thing is they told us that after 8pm each night it’s happy hour where the food have special pricing discount like 50% off or buy 2 get 1 free, even for drinks.
Food are top quality beef and no don’t they are best meet from Japan
We ordered the biggest plate for sharing and it’s pretty enough for us. For some heavy eater, I guess can order a plate for 2 people and order other side dishes
Love it
It’s expensive but worth to come for dating or celebrating“

“We had a great dinner there. All four dishes were fantastic, but I have to recommend the fettuccine with salmon and garlic cream sauce. It's perfectly located downtown, in a very quiet setting. Was not very busy when we were there so didn't probably need a reservation.“

“Second time here and it's just as good as the first! Our server Zee took wonderful care of us and the wine recommendations from their sommelier were all exceptional as well. The meal was one of those outstanding experiences where attentive, friendly and professional service coincided with delicious dishes and atmospheric ambience. It was the right choice to go on a Monday night since the restaurant is not quite as busy so the noise level was energetic but not boisterous. I dislike restaurants that are so busy and loud that you have to strain to hear your dining mates. Many restaurants in the city just don't do enough about the acoustics which hugely impacts the dining experience. Every dish we had was outstanding and had a real consistent point of view that line up with the restaurant's intentions. The highlights were the crispy eggplant, trout and the duck confit. The delicate accompaniments with the different textures and veg elements really elevated the main proteins and went so well with the wine suggested. We will return for more.“

“We started our girls’ bachelorette bar crawl at Uva Wine & Cocktail Bar and it could not have been a better first stop. The food was absolutely amazing, and the bartender was so friendly and welcoming. They even gave us free shots to kick off the night right, which made the experience extra fun and memorable. The atmosphere was lively yet classy, perfect for starting a celebration. Plus, the location is right in the middle of downtown Vancouver, making it super convenient for hopping to the next spots after. Such a great vibe all around — highly recommend for a night out with friends.“

“When we arrive, the place was not too busy and we are quickly seated by the owner.
It was a little windy outside, so we chose to eat inside.
We ordered the fried calamari gnocchi with peas and a roasted chicken. The roasted chicken takes 20 minutes and we agreed to that. It was definitely worth the time.
The fried calamari was OK, but we prefer the smaller bodies and tentacles. In the picture you can see that this is from a very large squid instead of smaller ones that are more tender. I liked that they deep-fried some pepperoncini’s, and it would be nice if they had more of the vegetables with the calamari.
The roasted chicken is a must have. It was extremely delicious. The gnocchi was gummy and was just OK.
We also got the tiramisu for dessert and it was good.“

“My boyfriend an I were looking for a place to dine while walking around Gastown when we came across Al Porto. We entered and where greeted by the waiter SIXTO. He made us feel very welcomed and took care of us. We had the lasagna which was excellent and the calamari which we found to be very chewy and tough. Not properly prepared. We ordered Molson Canadian beer and where told that we don’t carry it. SIXTO recommended we try The Kokanee beer which was comparable. We where offered the dessert menu but declined and had another Kokanee. Overall experience was good with exceptional service from our waiter. Will defiantly return to this restaurant next time we are visiting Vancouver.“
