The Complete Visitor's Guide to Ohio Brew Week 2026
Ohio Brew Week returns for its 21st year, transforming the city of Athens into the center of the state's craft beer scene. Running from July 10 through July 18, 2026, this nine-day event remains one of the few beer festivals in the country that stretches across an entire city rather than a single venue or fairground.
There are no wristbands or main entrances. Hundreds of beers from dozens of Ohio breweries take over local bars, restaurants, and community spaces downtown.

How It Works
You do not need a general admission ticket. Visitors can walk into any participating bar or restaurant and order directly from whatever is on tap that day.
To help track down specific releases, the festival uses an online Beer Tracker that lists every beer available during the week, complete with tasting notes and the exact venue serving it. Most locations run their own independent programming, such as tap takeovers or meet-the-brewer nights. While entry to most venues is free, select food pairings or special events may require a separate ticket.
The Key Events
While Ohio craft beer is available throughout Athens for all nine days, the festival is anchored by several annual traditions:
First Call & Keg Tapping - The official opening events that mark the start of the week and signal that the festival taps are officially open.
Brew BQ - Held at the Athens Train Depot. This event features live music, food trucks, and featured pours. It is free and open to the public, with food and beer tokens sold on-site.
Last Call - The festival finale. Court Street, from Carpenter to Washington, closes down for a massive outdoor street party to close out the nine-day festival.
Top Deck Dinner & Jon Sparhawk Day - Annual traditions honoring the founders of the festival and the local brewing community.

Breweries to Look For
Close to two dozen Ohio breweries participate each year, bringing a mix of local Athens staples and recognized statewide brands:
Jackie O’s Pub and Brewery - Athens-based and serving on home turf. Known best for their complex stouts and barrel-aged selections.
Little Fish Brewing Co. - Also based in Athens, focusing on farmhouse ales, small-batch releases, and locally sourced ingredients.
Great Lakes Brewing Co. - A Cleveland institution and one of the oldest breweries in Ohio. Their Dortmunder Gold lager remains a festival favorite.
Rhinegeist - Located in Cincinnati. Their Truth IPA has a significant following and tends to sell out quickly at tap takeovers.
Fat Head’s Brewery - Highly regarded for their hop-forward beers, particularly the award-winning Head Hunter IPA.
Columbus Brewing Company - Known for consistent, straightforward IPAs, offering a reliable choice between more experimental festival pours.
BrewDog - The international brand with its primary US brewery in Central Ohio, bringing a wide variety of styles to the lineup.
Black Diamond Brewery and Distillery - Worth tracking down if you see their Black Coal Stout or Dusk Till Dunkel on the tap lists.

Getting Around and Pacing
Parking and Transit
The Athens Parking Garage at 7 East Washington is the most central parking option, located within easy walking distance of Court Street and the main participating venues. Once downtown, the entire festival area is easily navigable on foot.
Pacing the Week
Nine days is a long stretch for a beer festival. Most locals pick two or three specific days to attend, with Last Call being the busiest. For out-of-town visitors traveling for a single day, a weekend visit during the second half of the festival offers the densest schedule of events and tap lists.
