“I've visited the Palmdale/Lancaster area three times in as many months and on this visit a local recommended Sassy Bird as a potential dining venue.. Tonight, I acted on his recommendation..

I ordered the two piece tender basket with coleslaw in place of fries for my side.. I paid the extra $1 to enjoy the Chipotle sauce.. I also requested medium spice..

The tenders are more akin to a full half chicken breast.. Quite large, lightly breaded, and wonderfully seasoned, my tenders were delivered tableside hot and fresh from the fryer.. The coleslaw, though chopped a little bigger than I typically prefer, was cold, crisp, and flavorful, too..

The garlic toast, prepared on a thick slice of Texas toast, was the perfect closer for the meal.. All in all I enjoyed everything about the meal and am thankfull I didn't order the three tender offering as it would have been too much food for this guy!!

Sassy Bird is an unassuming storefront nestled in a very appealing Lancaster business district among many other dining and retail offerings.. If you want to experience a cool, local venue, then Sassy's easily meets that requirement..”

If you are in the AV area looking for an upscale restaurant that allows you to come as you are look no further. At first glance the menu might seem a little basic with just wings and pizza but ba-beeeeeeeeee let me tell you something, we ordered three different types of pizza and each of them were FIRE 🔥. You can taste the freshness in all the ingredients down to the dough. The garlic parmesan wings were fried just right and had a good flavor. The ambience was a vibe for sure from the Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory gates that surrounded the patio entrance to the private room in the back where we celebrated my sisters birthday. If you haven’t done so already go check them out, I promise it will be worth it!”

“I have been here on multiple occasions and I must say the food is amazing... I was a little skeptical at first because of the restaurants location and the outside. I was pleased when I actually went inside, the restaurant was nice and clean. Their macaroni salad is amazing, also on one occasion I ordered the Katsu chicken and it was cold when I received it. I explained that it was for my kids and if they had somewhere to heat it because I didn’t want to serve it to them cold. They were actually really friendly about the situation and I handed the plate back and they remade the chicken. I was pleased the way they handled my situation and always with a polite understanding attitude. Will be back.”

“I went there in the morning today. There was a server at the window named Alfred. The system was down. He was very apologetic state com wasn’t freaking out asked me politely if I’d like to wait until he finds a workaround so you could take credit card payment within a couple minutes he was able to take the payment and offer a small discount for the inconvenience. Give that man a raise being able to stay calm under pressure I own my own company and I always praise this type of mentality for all my workers.”

“My daughter in law picked up food the other night for me and we loved it. I had the chicken strips. It was tender and delicious. They had cheeseburgers. I know they were going out for fast food and they said they stopped in here. Not only was it delicious. It was cost affordable, and they had a quick cocktail. Little mini date night for them.
They said I would even like it inside. It wasn't too crazy or allowed. They said it was great for the whole family.
On the weekends, it's more rowdy, later at night. It's the weekend's.
Be prepared for weekend crowd. Management does discourage bad behavior for sure. She came back with stunning reviews.”

I sat down and asked for uni, my go to, then for Otoro, the love of my life. Neither were to be found this night, but I discovered something more. He casually asked if I’d prefer to skip the menu and just let him cook, I obliged. All so meticulous, formless without form, thoughtful without thought. The heat of a smooth beer buzz rising through my veins, an ode to Ichiban and a prayer to the gods who hold reverence for spirits, as the tuna hit my plate while he shucked an oyster behind the bar. These moments are treasured, yet lost, as the curse of being in the moment itself is fleeting. That however is of no use when trying to get a decent seat. Time after time I have paid for a front row seat, second row seat, or even third row center only to find that the eight rows in front of me that magically were added to the venue by removing part of the stage I guess had been pre-reserved for RX Paris any member of City council any local businessman or anybody with more juice or money than I have. What do you have to do to get an actual front row seat at this place? Do I have to go to City Hall and genuflect and kiss the Ring? This is the type of capitalistic secret payoff crap that has existed in Lancaster for years. I'm done. I'll go back to driving to LA to see something if I want to”

“I was finally able go to Lobos after 2 years and half of patiently waiting for this coffee spot to open, back when it was going to be called Corvo Coffee!

I went there on a really hot day looking for something refreshing, I saw that they have cold brew and a 50/50 which seems interesting. I typically like to be challenged and stimulated by the coffee I drink so I asked the barista if there was a way to get something carbonated with coffee. He was totally open to the idea which tells me the baristas creativity is there, something you don’t see too often in the shops here in the AV. We went back and forth trying to come up with something, a 50/50 with blueberry or strawberry was brought up but I asked if they had tonic water by any chance which they don’t have on their menu but it was his personal tonic water. I mentioned to him that a cranberry espresso tonic would sound perfect as we’re pretty much already in fall and with this heat.
He did me a favor and made me the tonic, it was delightful and refreshing to say the least since it’s hard to find coffee shops around the area that deal with tonic.

Overall, the experience was great but my drink was even better! I’m glad Kyle (the barista) took my order that day as I feel many other baristas would have declined my request to make me a tonic as it’s not even on the menu. Neither is the cranberry I believe but I think it would be a great addition to their fall menu if they plan to have one.

I also hope they eventually decide to open up the rest of the location to have seating inside.”

“This used to be Red & Green Farms, I loved coming here as a kid to get Filipino food and snacks. The new owner has renovated the store and it looks organized and clean! They still have all the same food I like getting like fried tilapia, fried shrimp, calamari, and Filipino snacks. I highly recommend this store!”

The texture of the rice pupusas reminded me of mi little Pulgarcito, with that soft, buttery rice flour that melts in your mouth. The pupusas de maíz also stand out because they don’t taste like maseca. Most places use generic corn flour and you can taste the difference, but here everything tastes fresh, authentic, and made with care.
