French Restaurants near Alameda, CA

“We visited Alameda in April to attend a celebration of life for a family member that we lost suddenly. Our family was in town from all over the country, and we found Cafe Jolie Petit near our hotel. They took such great care of us, fed us meals on three or four consecutive days, and we could not have asked for better service or food during an emotional time. Pastries (Koiugn Amann!), Monte Cristo, and the coffee bar were our favorites, but everything we had was delicious. We hope to be back for happier circumstances at some point, and definitely will return!“

“I read about this spot and thought I give it a try. I had ordered popcorn chicken(great portion) two sandwiches( combo and chicken) I must admit, they know what they’re doing. Besides my usual place I would go to for Vietnamese sandwiches. I can say, this place is a MUST TRY!“

“Food is great ! Service is so so . They did forget a dish and were a bit slow even after the happy hour rush ended . They brought the bill before asking whether we wanted dessert ( we did ) this time and the last time we came . Still I’d go back as the food is too good!“

“We were in the area visiting relatives and it was our anniversary, so we wanted to find somewhere nice, and the reviews were right. It's a beautiful building, the service by Tony, our waiter, was wonderful, and the food was delicious. I started with the Escarole Salad, which had apples, grapes and more, it was a nice start. My wife had the shrimp cocktail, which came with 8 shrimp (she loved it). My entree was the Rack of Lamb, with 2 double-chops, sauteed kale and navy beans. It was very good, albeit a little more well-done than I prefer. My wife had the Caprese Pappardelle Pasta, which was delicious. And we finished with the poached pear dessert (which came with a candle for our anniversary). The prices were very reasonable for the quality.“

“Cafe Parisien in Berkeley (Shattuck) is sensational. The pastries are amazing, so fresh and gorgeous; the service is spectacular, the price of these delicious pastries and sandwiches is phenomenal. It's my new favorite cafe! (I think the chocolate croissant is my current favorite, but the almond croissant runs a pretty close second!)“

“There is a reason they sell out early everyday! Really delicious grilled pork, chicken or combo bahn mi. The fresh baguette is my favorite part. There is something about it that makes the sandwich taste even better than other places.

Great value. $6 per bahn mi. If you buy 4 sandwiches, you get a $2 discount. My favorite bahn mis!“

“The chicken and waffles here are impossibly delicious. Seriously the best I’ve had. There’s so much depth and nuance in the flavor, the waffle is delicate and sophisticated, and the fried chicken has a great batter, juiciness, and crunch“
