What a delightful treat, the gelato was tasty. The staff is very nice and conveniently located on the main strand.
The ice cream my friends and I sampled were decent and it reminded us of a similar ice cream shop back on the mainland (Blue Scoop Creamery located in Yorba Linda in Orange County). This was one of two ice cream shops my friends and I decided to check out whle exploring the city of Avalon on Catalina Island.
Ordered a double scoop for $10 since the single was $8. Pricey but typical for an ice cream parlor. Had the matcha and min n chip, both were decent, min n chip was thick but decent

Based on the reviews, Scoops Catalina Creamery is a nice, modern place that feels very LA-like. The shop is clean, nicely laid out, and has a fun, welcoming atmosphere. They offer unique flavors of gelato, ice cream, and toppings. Specific flavors mentioned include the chocolate salted pretzel, berry pistachio cheesecake, raspberry sorbet, peach-mango, and matcha green tea. The peach-mango gelato was smooth, creamy, and sweet with a bit of tang, tasting fresh with real bits of mango. The matcha green tea gelato was described as the best matcha found in the US. However, some flavors were a bit icy, and the berry pistachio cheesecake was not liked. The staff are friendly and service is quick, but customers cannot sample flavors. Portion sizes are very generous. They also serve Starbucks coffees and can make an affogato. The restaurant always has a line, but it is a must-visit for a treat after a day exploring Avalon. It is quite expensive, and the use of plastic cups is concerning for a small island.
