Cha-Ya Berkeley Reviews
The food was good and the seating atmosphere was really nice! I feel like every menu choice had a variety of vegetables so I think this would be great for a health-conscious person. We got sushi and really liked the cha ya deep fried sushi. The food overall is very simple and vegetable-centered.

Based on the reviews, Cha-Ya Berkeley is a very good traditional Japanese restaurant that is all vegan. All of their food is excellent, from the sushi to the udon to the various small plate offerings. The ingredients are so fresh and high quality, and the food is comforting and delicious. The dishes are consistent in flavor, amount, temperature, and texture. Prices are quite reasonable, but it is cash or Venmo only. The service is quick and friendly, and the environment is clean and quiet. It has a homey, old school, unpretentious vibe. It is a true Berkeley institution and an old standby that is still so good after two decades. It is in the top 3 best vegan restaurants in Berkeley. Specific meals mentioned include the Cha Ya Roll, Gyoza, Agedashi Tofu, Cha-Ya Nabe, Special Pumpkin Soup, hasami age, mikuri age, bao bun, and vege-tofu curry.
