So I also thought it was weird that my straw didn't go all the way down, but the bottom felt hollow. Well, duh, there was a toy in the bottom like an advent calendar. Very cute concept, to say the least. I'll definitely be back.“
“We stopped in yesterday during a long drive. The place hasn't aged all that well imo and I was disappointed to see that most of the donuts looked... like regular donuts just with different colors and cute names... like my husband got a Cutie (strawberry old fashioned donut) and a "this one" or maybe it was "that one" I forget - it was just a glazed old fashioned with some frosting drizzle. The one he didn't choose was just a chocolate old fashioned with drizzle. They had three super fancy donuts - cereal killer, vanilla wafer, and some oreo cookie thing. Then they had 2 semi-fancy?? one banana cream filled and one chocolate cream filled. Honestly I bought the chocolate cream filled specifically because another reviewer bought it and said it wasn't very good, and I wanted to see if I agreed. To start with, had to eat half the donut just to even find the chocolate filling, which wasn't ideal. The chocolate filling tasted exactly like a snak-pak chocolate pudding to me. So I'd agree, kind of mild flavored... and not very... exciting. I'd agree this suicide squeeze (I think I'm remembering the name right) was a bit lackluster. I did really enjoy the cherry icing drizzled on top though. More of that please! No "Strawberry Fields" though they still had a picture of it on their wall. When I asked the woman behind the counter if they still have that one sometimes, she said she's never seen it since she's been working there. I don't know how long that was, but the answer was disappointing since that was (and I am guessing still is) my favorite. Overall I feel like this store has a very dated appearance, and I think consumers do want and like rotating fancy desserts that cost too much. I regularly buy $4-5 cookies at Crumbl. It feels instead like Psycho has backtracked to offer more "basic" donuts just so people have something less expensive to buy, but then they're not really offering something significantly different from your standard donut shop. I also got the cereal killer donut, which was very fun, but the cereal wasn't as crunchy as I'd hoped, and it made me wonder how fast their turn over is. Within 3 hours of buying the cereal killer there was basically no crunch left. I should have eaten that one first... Anyway, I'm just not sure I'm going to go out of my way to come to this shop again in the future. I feel like it needs a more modern appearance, and a focus on their ultra special donuts, not the basic ones. Me: What's this Jekyll and Hyde one? Employee: That's half chocolate donut.... and half with sprinkles... wtf? I had half-expected her to wow me with something like half chocolate donut, half vanilla donut. That would have been pretty crazy. This was just a donut where they'd put sprinkles on half of it. That's not crazy!!! I mean, it's crazy for how normal it is! Still 4 stars because it was good. I enjoyed my donuts. But it could have been so much better. Sad about that.“
“Today, I stopped into Stan's, and they had a lot of chocolate and maple bars, so I picked up a chocolate bar. The donut bar is fairly large. It has crispy golden edges where they have been expertly fried in oil. Slightly cooled and covered in a nice layer of chocolate glaze. Yum!“
“I had the best experience here! It is on the pricier side (around $30 for a dozen donuts) but totally worth it. They had all sorts of flavors - my go to's are always matcha, cookies and creme and black sesame. But honestly, all the flavors are delicious. I also happened to come when there was a malasada pop up going on. Those were amazing too!!! I bought a dozen plus some malasadas to relatives who visit Hawaii often and they were SO happy when I brought over the MoDo Donuts. We love to cut the donuts up into pieces so everyone can try different flavors. The store was cute and had plenty of parking. There were a couple of people waiting for their donuts too. “It's been a while since my last visit to Rollo's but I'm glad to see that they are still as popular as ever. I used to have their glazed and chocolate covered raised donuts at work on Mondays and have always thought the dough quality was top notch. I came by for donuts myself maybe once or twice a couple of years ago, then sadly stopped coming around because I moved away from the area. More than once I'd stop by after sneaking away early for lunch only to find that they had sold out of donuts an hour before closing. During my most recent visit, I made sure to head over during breakfast hours to avoid being disappointed again. I would recommend getting any of the raised donuts, especially the glazed since that one always looks the best. I'm usually a donut hole lover but the donut holes here just don't have the same draw to them as the donuts themselves (not that they're bad but just notably less great). I'm not personally a big fan of cake donuts but I heard that the ones here are done with a little extra cinnamon, so if that's your thing then go for it but if it isn't then steer clear. They do take credit card which is always one of my concerns when it comes to donut shops. On the latest visit I was surprised to find one extra glazed donut in the bag, reading other reviews I guess a bonus donut or two isn't uncommon but I thought that was only for orders of a dozen or larger. Guess it doesn't hurt to mention which donut is your favorite while inside the store.“
“Been going to Maple Leaf Donuts for years and will miss Mary. Recently went for the first time under new ownership and met a nice woman behind the counter named Tia, who was very friendly and efficient. She accurately assembled my 1 doz donuts in a new flat style box, not the pink tallish square box I was so used to all these years. It''ll take some getting used to, but the advantage of the flat box is all donuts are now easily displayed (& accessible) when the box is opened - vs. being tightly slotted sideways in the pink box. All the donuts looked the same visually - which is a compliment to the new donut maker. I can't speak to the taste of the dozen donuts as they were given as a gift. I did order an apple fritter & old fashioned for myself - compliments to the current donut maker, both tasted like Maple Leaf Donuts - I'll need a few more visits to confirm for consistency of the product, but it seems they're following the previous recipes, techniques & process. Also the new owners put up a couple of flat screens that display all their menu items. Hopefully Almaden and the surrounding area gives the new owners a chance and continue to support local small businesses like Maple Leaf Donuts“

“Came here this past Saturday to get Gavin some donuts. Can you tell he loves donuts? I was in the mood for ca phe sua da so I was looking for a place I can get both w/o having to drive to 2 different places. The selection of donuts was quite impressive. Nearly every donut was stocked beautifully and looked fresh and delicious. I did not try the donuts, but their ca phe su da was strong and mildly sweet. “I've been here a few times over the years. It is located in a small strip mall right by 7-11. This is a hole-in-the-wall shop for the better. When you first walk into this tiny place, you get a wall that is plastered in pictures of their croissant sandwiches. The display case features their classic donuts. “The highlight of this donut shop is the service. The people are exceptionally kind and helpful. They have recently taken over from the original owners, but the quality of the donuts and croissants has not dropped at all. My go to is the egg bacon ham & cheese croissant and a white cake donut. I've also had the filled donuts holes and the maple bars, and those are excellent as well. I usually take my food to go, but inside, it looks straight out of a 1970s donut shop with the brown lacquer and elevated seating. It's like being transported to another time. Parking is a breeze, and you're in and out in a matter of minutes. Highly recommend“

They have donuts, coffee, bagels and an array of sandwiches. I knew I had to work through lunch and didn't bring one from home so stopped in. You can't really go wrong with a turkey club on a croissant. Veggies were fresh, lots of turkey and bacon and the croissant was huge. Croissant was flaky and soft. Sandwich comes standard with red onion and jalapeños so if you aren't a fan make the request to omit these ingredients when you order it.Parking can get a little "hairy". If you can park on the curb in front of Subway, you may be safer. The parking lot is tight and shared with 2 other places. I'll be back, I'm sure.“

Although the shop is small, there is always a lot of seating as part of the food court. “I realize for many Krispy Kreme donuts can feel too sweet but regardless of sweet, the original Krispy Kreme glazed hot off the line has no comparison. They offer a wide variety of decorative donuts, cake and normal dough among a few but between the Raspberry filled and hot off the press original glazed you just cannot find better.Make sure you enroll in the Krispy Kreme app and log your purchases in that as it will yield free coffees, donuts and even a box of a dozen donuts. I am currently 3 dozen away from a free dozen.I will also admit that a cold Krispy Kreme original glazed is extremely disappointing and a lot less appetizing, but with a 5-10 second warming in the microwave it is very close to that original hot off the line taste. Perfectly seasoned and a nice buttery but not greasy pastry. The banh bo nuong has the right amount of pandan, sweetness and chewy texture. CA bakehouse's banh Bo Pandan was so overpowering, I had to throw it away. This is authentic and hits the spot. I've lived there n NorCal for the past few decades and yet to find a place that can make these baked goods just as good. Glad to say, this is it. The ice coffee is a good 3.5 out of 5 stars but pairs well with pate chaud. Will be back to stock up every time i'm in San Jose. Friendly mom and pop shop. Despite its somewhat weathered appearance, we were pleasantly surprised by the deliciousness of their fresh donuts and the good customer service.
