New Peking Restaurant is a family-owned, small business that has relocated to a new address on South Street in Cerritos. The food is really good, authentic, and of the best quality. The menu includes old favorites and unique dishes. The General Tso’s is a favorite, but the Spicy Orange Chicken has replaced it as a new top choice. The egg fu Yung is the best anywhere, and the walnut shrimp and bbq pork fried rice are also excellent. The salt & pepper squid is spectacular, and the orange chicken makes panda express's version taste like trash. The chicken and shrimp are very tasty and plump. The menu’s “spicy” means a nice little kick, not a flamethrower. Portions are big, with each dish making two meals. The staff is always friendly, helpful, and very hard working. Lunch specials range between $11-12.50 and come with soup, dumpling, and an entree. The atmosphere is good, with many Chinese people, making it authentic. The speed of the food can be slow, but it is worth it. This is the best Chinese food experience in Long Beach.
