“Scott and Carlos have created a truly elevated bar experience in Chico. The thoughtfulness of the menu, design, and bar program are in a class of bars in larger cities.

Dana, Drew and the other staff are intentional in their appreciation and take the time to break down the sometimes complex recipes.

With the way this bar/lounge is set up, it’s supposed to be that way, it might take some old timers and luddites some time to figure it out… but don’t pander to them. Keep doing what you’re doing! We loved it and brought some first timers who loved it too!

And not to mention you can book through Google maps, and a few other ways online. This place is ahead of the curve for Chico

“First time here at this new location. We had double smash burgers with fries. The fries were fantastic, crunchy, thin cut, with a seasoned exterior that almost reminded me of a thin layer of tempura. They were so good! The burger was equally wonderful. Pro tip use the sauce for the fries on your burger! We topped off the meal with a couple tall cans of hazy IPA from California micro breweries. I'm heading back next chance. They had vegetarian options. Service was spot on!“

“If you are not intimately familiar with this place and a regular patient, then basically I don’t know what you are doing with your life. Carlos makes incredibly good food, the portions are solid, the drinks are delicious and not a rip off, the bartenders are nice and fun, it’s just a great place. “Kind of sad when a business faith is dictated by reviews dating years and years ago. Kind of like herpes, if I may, they never seem to disappear, specially when said reviews are detrimental and no longer apply to the present.
Finally I went to this poorly rated establishment for their Taco Tuesday Special at $1.25 each.
I should add that previously someone brought to our place the Monday Special, Burger night, which at this day and age must admit was unbeatable and rather tasty. The kind of special that defies all odds. Also, previously as well had their Wednesday Chicken Wings Special. That one, sadly, a fiasco. Super dry wings, devoid of all appeal, but for the money the quantity was decent.
Anywho, Tackle Box simply rocks, and from the looks it distinguished itself as a truly unique scene. Staff reeked of good manners and friendly demeanor, which I must confess, truly appreciate. The shower singer in me wanted to get up on their stage and make a fool out of myself. The square footage truly mind altering, and the one question nagging me was: why the few and not so good comments? The bar alone is quite a sight!
Tacos: small but loaded, easy to devour but please no less than 6, or will wish it had been. Salsa, meats, sauce, not shabby at all. Staff, as happily mentioned, nice as can be. Restroom particularly clean and originally decorated. Heard Happy Hour beers run for $4 a piece? If so, it would take quite a few to tune ? up.
I thank the good man that drove us there. Karaoke Night Sundays? Buzzed enough I see no reason why I would not make a fool out of myself, God knows over the years I repeatedly have in good fun. Johnny Rivers “Poor Side of Town” seems about right. Tackle Box is an original, and from what I heard, the ownership which dates back and crew deserve plenty of recognition. 1 star 6 years ago, 10?

“The Banshee is a great downtown Chico bar and restaurant experience. It's a bar atmosphere, near the university with foot traffic you'll find a mix of patrons from students to white and blue collar, giving this place a kind of charm. It can be very loud when busy. Smallish menu, great food, healthy portions, many beers on tap, mixed drinks etc. Staff is great.

Parking: Parking close by can be tricky at times. Easier if willing to walk a few blocks.“

“We visited for the first time on Mother’s Day. LOVE that they take reservations and we were able to choose between dining room or patio. There was a DJ and the moms in our party were given fresh cut roses. Our hostess was very knowledgeable and arranged a special mocktail for my sister who is nursing. Portions were very generous, everything was tasty, great value and experience. This will be our new tradition.“

“Funky atmosphere with so much wall art that I see something new every time I go to visit! The food is classic and you can never go wrong with the bear burger. Daily deals on drinks and food make it a go to place for a broke college boy like me!

Also cool dance floor (little small tho) and awesome patio and a random but cool super hero themed room.“
