“Having not been "back home" in several years, I was shocked to see the changes to downtown. And... a brewery. The people there I spoke to are very friendly and show great pride in their craft. I tasted a few different beers and was very pleasantly surprised. Will definitely be a stopping point next time I'm in town“
“A great brewpub in the Gaslamp. Tasty beers, attentive staff and super dog friendly. Lots of special offers, like game day discounts, which is also nice to see. Didn’t eat here, but the food looked good. A good place for hanging out with your mates.“
“Great service and amazing beer! We got a chance to taste their traditional beers as well as some of their experimental beers. The staff gave us an in depth description of the ideas behind their experimental beers and made for a great night out! Will come again and I highly recommend this spot. An up and coming gem in SD.“
“I’ve frequented plenty of breweries on the west coast, and I have a handful of favorites but East Village is another level. I literally have not have a bad beer from them, and that’s especially impressive since they typically drop a new beer a week. The owners are great, always happy to geek out with you. The staff is friendly and attentive, makes it feel like your hanging at a friends house. I just cannot speak highly enough of this place. An absolute gem among the already incredible SD brewing scene.“
“Ballast point has a lot of solid beers, though they aren’t the most flavorful. The blue beer/seltzer (can’t remember the name) is terrible in that it tastes like college (if that’s what they were going for then job well done!).The brewery is huge and has a lot of nice open seating, inside and outside. The food is great for being bar food (loved the pork belly Mac and cheese) and when our order was a little slow to come out they offered to comp us with beers (totally not needed- life happens- but we really appreciated the offer)“
“TL;DR amazing rustic decor with equally amazing new American-style food to match I came here on a weekday to hang out with some friends and was recommended by the attendant in their adjoining coworking space that the chicken sandwiches were the choice to make and it definitely didn't disappoint. Keeping it short and simple, I rarely ever crave new American cuisine since it's a hit or miss and some are good but most are mediocre with a price tag that isn't palatable, however, Bivouac was a clear exception The chicken sandwich was great, it was juicy and tender on the inside with a nice crispy exterior. The bun was lightly toasted inside and the cheese paired with the arugula and pickled onions were a blissful pair. The pickled onions cut through the fattiness and the arugula added a nice slightly bitter flavor contrast that I enjoyed Food aside, the decor was also well aligned with there themed location next door, the seating we had was a swing in a c-shape and moved all the c-shaped bench together which added a bit of thrill. It felt similar to a childhood experience and felt like one of those swings you'd have in your grandparent's yard or something similar Overall the setting and food were something I would come back to, if the interior was the only hallmark of this place I would likely not come back but the food from everyone I was with seemed to suit their taste buds well and equally fill everyone up“
“Allow me to explain the reasons why I love Seek Brewing. First, the beer is expertly brewed, clean fermentations, with proper fermenting times creates a level of lager brewing that few can match in San Diego. Every lager has been outstanding. This is why you’ll see other long time SD brewers hanging out here. Not a lager drinker? No worries, the line of pale ales, West coast IPAs and hazy IPAs should fulfill just about everyone’s drink needs, even a few fruited sour beers are available. The Room: Small cozy interior with a small bar and a few tables. Bright with a modern simple design logo that bucks the trends for most breweries. The Patio: This is a large outdoor communal space (shared by the three breweries) that offers picnic tables, comfy patio chairs, a janga set, dart boards, and corn-hole boards. Food trucks and pop-up food vendors provide the eats. It’s a great place to enjoy the SD sunshine. The People: This is the best part, from the owners to the warm welcoming beer-tenders who make you feel like a part of the family. One particular staff member is the amazing Savanna whose personal good natured charm could melt an iceberg, she’s knowledgeable about the products and truly a great beer-tender.Get some!“
“A nice salty little tap room in a place we never would have found if our dog hadn't broken a $550 nail... The bartender was the pleasantly gruff you would want to expect at a wee neighborhood place. He definitely had me nailed just walking in for a Porter, the wartime chocolate, and a fine pick it was. As always in San Diego, a very IPA heavy menu (5 IPA, 3 cream, 2 sour) out of 16 taps, but the Kolsh was good as well. Atmosphere was very nice, for a cozy little place, especially for Canadian WWII buffs. If I am back this way, I will be back.“
“We threw a surpise birthday party for my husband here at Thorn Brewing. Morgan at Thorn helped me reserve half the venue for the party, we were able to bring in our own food/cake and with about 15 adults we hit the minimum for a beer tab during the 4 hrs we were there. I would recommend this place for a small party/get together. Good beer and great service!“
“*amazing* food, superfun vibe, and a really great selection of guest taps (the BLAH house beers are, well, exactly as advertised - BLAH. ??♀️)I especially like the Highland Park Brewing beers (the pb stout Meryl) and the beers from Living Haus - standouts amid a week of standout beers! ?I had the Harvest pizza today - sweet potatoes, broccolini, really delish sauce “
“Delicious food and fun atmosphere. We came for late lunch before concert at Petco Park. Was fun to hear the sound check and Billy Joel. So many fun places to sit- see pictures. We sat on 2nd floor balcony and had prompt and friendly service by Spencer. The food is EXCELLENT. We enjoyed scotch eggs, the burger and crispy chicken sandwich. Burger was cooked perfectly, juicy and served with a delicious truffle aioli and roasted tomatoes and pickled onions. Highly recommend.“
“This place was awesome! Great beers, good price and excellent staff. Nikki is by far, one of the BEST beertenders I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Truly hostiplable and personable. She, in combination of the fantabulous beers makes it ver worthwhile of the visit. Definitely will go back!“
“The grapefruit Let's Go IPA and Italian Pilsner are two favorites for sure. The place is perfect for family and friends. Ice cream next door for kids, taco truck close as well, and the best beer. Don't forget, they are dog-friendly!“
“I wasn't from the area and was prior researching good spots to ear. I wanted something just enough to last me 9 hours to hangout in Chula Vista and prep for Jiu-Jitsu/gym. The 5 Stars is on the food itself. Wish the water cup was bigger but oh well. Imma make this my Friday routine.“
