East Village Brewing Company Brewery • $$
201 Park Blvd Suite 101, San Diego

“I’ve frequented plenty of breweries on the west coast, and I have a handful of favorites but East Village is another level. I literally have not have a bad beer from them, and that’s especially impressive since they typically drop a new beer a week. The owners are great, always happy to geek out with you. The staff is friendly and attentive, makes it feel like your hanging at a friends house. I just cannot speak highly enough of this place. An absolute gem among the already incredible SD brewing scene.“

“TL;DR amazing rustic decor with equally amazing new American-style food to match I came here on a weekday to hang out with some friends and was recommended by the attendant in their adjoining coworking space that the chicken sandwiches were the choice to make and it definitely didn't disappoint. Keeping it short and simple, I rarely ever crave new American cuisine since it's a hit or miss and some are good but most are mediocre with a price tag that isn't palatable, however, Bivouac was a clear exception The chicken sandwich was great, it was juicy and tender on the inside with a nice crispy exterior. The bun was lightly toasted inside and the cheese paired with the arugula and pickled onions were a blissful pair. The pickled onions cut through the fattiness and the arugula added a nice slightly bitter flavor contrast that I enjoyed Food aside, the decor was also well aligned with there themed location next door, the seating we had was a swing in a c-shape and moved all the c-shaped bench together which added a bit of thrill. It felt similar to a childhood experience and felt like one of those swings you'd have in your grandparent's yard or something similar Overall the setting and food were something I would come back to, if the interior was the only hallmark of this place I would likely not come back but the food from everyone I was with seemed to suit their taste buds well and equally fill everyone up“

“Update 7/19/2023: This place still rocks! They are a two person brewery team that really cares about what they make and have a fun/creative attitude to the names they assign to these great beers!Previous Review: Great small brewery run by just two guys. They're mellow, smart, and friendly.... Oh and the beers are great. My wife loves their brown ale (Recluse). My boy loves their root beer with a cinnamon punch. I love their IPAs (Cow Bell and More Cow Bell) as well as the dark ale (Basilisks).“

Seek Beer Co. Brewery • $$
3052 El Cajon Blvd suite C, San Diego

“Allow me to explain the reasons why I love Seek Brewing. First, the beer is expertly brewed, clean fermentations, with proper fermenting times creates a level of lager brewing that few can match in San Diego. Every lager has been outstanding. This is why you’ll see other long time SD brewers hanging out here. Not a lager drinker? No worries, the line of pale ales, West coast IPAs and hazy IPAs should fulfill just about everyone’s drink needs, even a few fruited sour beers are available. The Room: Small cozy interior with a small bar and a few tables. Bright with a modern simple design logo that bucks the trends for most breweries. The Patio: This is a large outdoor communal space (shared by the three breweries) that offers picnic tables, comfy patio chairs, a janga set, dart boards, and corn-hole boards. Food trucks and pop-up food vendors provide the eats. It’s a great place to enjoy the SD sunshine. The People: This is the best part, from the owners to the warm welcoming beer-tenders who make you feel like a part of the family. One particular staff member is the amazing Savanna whose personal good natured charm could melt an iceberg, she’s knowledgeable about the products and truly a great beer-tender.Get some!“

Thorn Brewing Brewery • $$

“We threw a surpise birthday party for my husband here at Thorn Brewing. Morgan at Thorn helped me reserve half the venue for the party, we were able to bring in our own food/cake and with about 15 adults we hit the minimum for a beer tab during the 4 hrs we were there. I would recommend this place for a small party/get together. Good beer and great service!“

Prestons’ Ginger Beer Brewery •
8680 Miralani Dr UNIT 126, San Diego

“Stopped by because I saw the roll-up door was open. Usually they're closed when I've been in the area. I was blown away by the owner's sweet hospitality, welcoming me in even though he wasn't technically open and was preparing a delivery to a local high-end restaurant. (BTW, his ginger beer is sold at Seaside Market!) He told me a little about his story, how he got started and offered me a few samples to try, beginning with the award-winning flavor that had yuzu, mint, and something else. It was yummy! Looked like there were around 8-10 flavors on tap including a POG, matcha and ube. How fun is that! If you stop in on a typical day, there is some seating, merch to purchase and various flavors of ginger beer on tap to try. And the best part is you can take some for the road. I wasn't a fan of the ube flavored ginger beer but go try it and decide for yourself. There's gotta be some fans otherwise it wouldn't be featured.“

Fall Brewing Company Brewery • $
9550 Distribution Ave, San Diego

“What a gem! We absolutely loved this place—the decor, the attentive service, and especially their beer options! I particularly appreciated their selection of lighter, less-hoppy beers. It's refreshing to find a place in the city that offers decent options on lagers and pilsners, in addition to the usual IPAs. I especially enjoyed the 'Oh Yeah!'We'll definitely be coming back for more!“

The Good Seed Food Company Brewpubs • $$
1326 Kettner Blvd, San Diego

“I was in San Diego, near the pier, for the day. When I Googled \"Vegetarian Restaurants\" The Good Seed Food Company\" was in the search results. Great rating and more than on comment about the great vegetarian food. Now, my bad, I didn't check the menu on their website, and made the short walk to their door. Great curb appeal! However, when I looked at the menu .. clearly not veg friendly. Very meaty actually. Bummer. However, for anyone looking for a great SD chill vibe, check it out. The staff was super kind and helpful and the fare is fresh and local when possible. I gave it a 4, however, obviously didn't eat the food. Just liked the vibe and the staff. Maybe it's a 5 if you're not looking for plant based food. ?“

“A (literally) hidden gem. The restaurant rests beside a small pond, found only by following a trail from the parking lot. Sitting outside under a cozy heat lamp, my husband enjoyed trying several beers while I had a POG seltzer. The service was fantastic, and the food was the best we'd had in a long time. I thoroughly enjoyed the locally crafted sausages and the baked mac n cheese. I learned that the sauces and dressings are made in house. My husband had the ahi nachos - chips and sauces also made in house. We'll be coming back!“

“My husband and I picked Kairoa to be our venue for our wedding reception after one single visit. The food was great and the staff was nice! The planning process was easy! Candy, the event coordinator, was helpful and easy to communicate with. We were able to reserve their “function room” for a 3 hour block. They had an extensive event menu to choose from that included food and drink options. They even communicated last minute about additional tables for gifts/desserts/etc, tv usage for slideshows, and additional dietary restriction questions. The day of was seamless. My group was about 20 people and the majority were able to arrive slightly early with even the offer to adjust the open bar time. The staff were amazing and upon arrival the setup was perfect. The area was semi-private with heaters. The spritzer bar was set up perfectly and they even made personalized drink menus with our names on it. The food came out about 30 minutes after our start time. We had NZ fries, buffalo wings, broccolini, and teriyaki beef skewers. As people ate and enjoyed the food, staff would replenish as necessary. Drinks were prompt and the wait and bar staff were attentive, friendly, and fast. The weather got a little windy/misty so the staff even worked quickly to move tables around to ensure our desserts and other personal items were safe.Overall the night was wonderful. Our guests loved the atmosphere, made the best out of the open bar, ate so much food, and celebrated our marriage.Thank you to all the staff at Kairoa that helped out on 4/4/24! You all exceeded our expectations on all accounts. You’ll always have a special place in our hearts for hosting this intimate, love-filled night for us. We will continue to come back and enjoy this great place!*I’ll update with pictures at a later time*“
