“The idea is lovely and customer service divine… seating is hard on a Sunday it’s not really the business's fault just a location thing. I’m only 3ing it for the public knowledge not the business. Food was warm at best but again it’s a busy day so I’m sure they did their best to counter the crowd.“

“"It all tasted great!" - Quote from my co-review writer my 13 year old little dude.We are basically on a chicken tour of SD during our spring break stay, so we had to hit up DHC. A quick short walk from Pacific Beach - they have indoor and outdoor seating. The staff was super friendly and helpful with spice level and the sauces they offer. The food came out quick, and it was good! I ordered one "slider" but it's def. the size of a regular chicken sandwich! I personally love Dave Sauce. I think it is some of the best sauce around! Great job!!“

“This place serves 85 years of proven deliciousness. It is simple. It is hearty. These days, it is even out of the ordinary. Just go. You will be glad that you did. If you are like me, you’ll remember how Mom would heat the oven to 450 degrees and place the block of ice Hungry Man pot pie in the oven for one hour till it transformed into a cauldron of molten lava. My mother would even crack open the hood of the pie and load it with an extra cup of frozen peas and carrots that would cook to perfection in the heavenly inferno of scrumptious delight, which made me the muscular hunk of love that I am today. The San Diego Chicken Pie Shop serves up a pie that is an even better recipe than the one in my memories of my dear Mom. If your are nearby, give it a try.“

“I ordered takeout. The taste was very delicious! You can choose the level of spiciness, so I chose standard. It wasn't too spicy and I was able to eat it till the end.The chicken is also thick and voluminous, making it a satisfying meal. The chicken was also juicy and not too dry.The sauce on the chicken is also appetizing and delicious, and I can see why this restaurant is so popular.Even though it's spicy, it's delicious until the end, and you'll want to eat it again. Please come and try it.“

“I've dropped by a few hot chicken places in different areas and you do find many that just do it wrong. This is not one of those places. The first time I came here I went to order the supreme (as the only level above "spicy", assuming that "spicy" would not be hot enough) after which I was informed you had to sign a waiver to get that. I went with the two dark meat sandwich spicy combo and a drink. First thing: you do get good portions. Each sandwich is smaller- about half the size of the ones I've gotten at other hot chicken places- but you get two of them and it's roughly the same price after everything so it all comes out in the wash. Honestly it's probably better this way. The chicken is crispy and has great flavor, the fries are well-seasoned, and the sauce is great for dipping the fries in. The chicken also has a bit of a kick to it. That said, I will complain about the heat level later after talking about my second trip here in the two days I was in town. I had to go back because they have ube cheesecake there. This is something that people should not skip; ube in general should rarely be skipped but this was especially unskippable. Highly recommended and very much worth it. I also ended up trying the supreme since the spicy was not as hot as the hot at many of the other hot chicken places I've been to. I figured that the supreme couldn't be that bad given the heat level of the spicy and that they were just being overly sensitive with the waiver thing. DO NOT MAKE MY MISTAKE. It is at the lower level of spicy food challenges but it is definitely at the level of a food challenge. I ate most of one of the sandwiches with difficulty at first and got a box for the tender (white meat this time) and consumed that later. The cramps and nausea came in waves starting about ten minutes after eating the tender and lasted at least half an hour. Luckily nothing came of it except for looking like I was having medical issues while walking around town later. Now the complaint. I personally don't think that the spicy is a good "hottest realistic" spice level for a hot chicken place. I think they should shift the supreme up to level six or seven and make a new level five (and six in the case of putting supreme at seven) between the old spicy and supreme, still keeping that big jump up from there to the hottest. The ube cheesecake keeps that from costing the place a star.“

“To start off, the guy working here was awesome and so nice! We were able to sit at the bar next door to eat and he brought our food out super quick. The chicken nuggets were a huge portion, even for the smaller size and the quality of the chicken was fantastic. Don't sleep on the chipotle aioli!“

“I have so give a huge shoutout to Angela S at the front counter. Her customer service skills were on point. She was so bubbly and friendly. I ordered a sandwich with extra pickles and oh boy did I get a lot of pickles Also she recommended that I mix the Dave's sauce with honey to dip my fries in. Wow, it was delicious and I even poured some on my sandwich. If there is an employee of the month at this location Angela S deserves it!“

“Tenders are very good! Fries are good, nothing special. Service is kiosk ordering. No interaction with anyone. Charge .50 per dipping sauce and .50 for “no sauce”? Only free item is ketchup. Reasonably quick food prep. Hot enough to still be warm after walking back to hotel 10 minutes away. Located inside a mini food court type area. Only real issue is drink prices. $4.00 for a 20oz bottle of Diet Coke is ridiculous. Less expensive out of vending machine at hotel which means it’s over priced! Otherwise will definitely get their tenders again next time in SAN.“

“Best Chicken Pot Pie ever!! The size is perfect for one person! The inside ingredients are evenly distributed with just the right amount of creamy gravy, perfectly salted with all the savoring flavors that hit you palate perfectly. The crust is perfectly light and flaky and just the right flavor matching the insides!!! I tried a few other restaurants San Diego claiming to make the best pot pies. But now I’ve tried KFC and it seems to be the Best so far!! This is my opinion!“
