Team Barbie and I rolled in Coronado's sole dive bar around 9:30am on Thursday, July 4th. A little preparty before marching in the famous Coronado 4th of July Parade. Interior is from the 1980s or 70s...but still clean, dark, faded red carpet, vintage wood panel walls, beer decor, a single pool table in the back, an older, friendly and gentlemanly bartender, and a clientele that was 90% men at this early hour.

Three craft lager beers and a generous mimosa was $29, which I thought was very reasonable in an expensive, ritzy, and yuppy filled city like Coronado.“

“Really cool and unique coffee! I went in and just asked the barista to give me two coffees he recommended and it did not disappoint! We got the black nitro cold brew and the honey lavender and both were delicious! Also got a donut and it was also great. The barista was so friendly! I would totally make this my go to coffee spot when we visit Coronado.“

“Dog friendly with outside seating. We ordered two EPIC hot lobster rolls (Connecticut style, warm with butter) and although they were delicious, for the EPIC PRICE OF $39 PER ROLL, it was very skimpy compared to what you get for that price in New England. They stack it high in the middle and don’t fill the bun to the ends to make it look super full. It’s not. The New England clam chowder was great though.“

“It was my first time here, and it did not disappoint. If you're looking for mini delicious donuts (the flavors are amazing) and come in a brown bag like 90s lunch?. The burritos are no slouch either. It was thicker than uncut salami, and the flavor was on point. Burritos ? & Donuts ? who would have thunk it... Dinky did!!!!!!!“

“A great little French “bistro”. The menu is varied enough for most. I had the curry chicken salad which was perfectly flavored. Portion size was generous. My husband had a bacon panino with a suave of fresh fruit. The fruit was really fresh and ripe. We couldn’t resist dessert - they have a large display of very delectable desserts. The coffee was perfect - strong without any bitterness. Waiter was attentive without being intrusive and offered me coffee to go. I highly recommend this little gem. While we didn’t drink, the table next to us ordered several bottles of wine.“

“The service was unbelievable! Lately, our family has not dined out due to many lackluster experiences. This was not the case this time. Wonderful staff, Ansel, especially. Delicious food and amazing city light night views. Take to ferry over for a nice little night with your family. We will be back!“

“I had shared before arriving that we were celebrating our 20th in the notes and had called weeks ahead of time requesting nothing special other than a nice seat with a view. Being at the 5 o'clock hour when it's actually scarce lots of open tables. My wife had to sit underneath the lower portion of the roof as I'm too tall. I get the view of the harbor she gets the view of the corner. Our table leaned along with needed leveling support because it rocked back& forth. It's not rocket science, fix it!! Service actually sub par never asked if my wife would like more coffee. Did ask how the food was. The food was excellent. The table next to us which featured a view for both of us was occupied by a single person working on their computer. Thankfully my original backup plan came through the night before where we were able to dine at Lelia's. At the end after being dessert & we declined. Our server can't back with a bowl of ice cream a lit candle a nicely wished us a happy 20th. They didn't have to do that it wasn't expected but we were $$ thankful. We'll return again like I said the food is awesome. But they seriously need to do some maintenance.“

“Been there many many times. But this time I went around 445pm and there was no one there. We ate inside, for our first time and had an insane experience. The bartender was asking us for drinks and trying small samples of the new wines and whiskey. Had the steak. Delicious. Will 100% come back.“

“Upon arrival, saw a few indoor seating available, but there were plenty at the outdoor patio area. Decided to sit inside. Our order was placed at the register. Our dish arrived 10-15 minutes later. There was self serve drinking station. Don't expect fast food service at this place. All staff were attentive in picking up dirty dishes and utensils.

The shrimp kabob lacked taste, texture and presentation. Maybe it needed to be grilled a little more longer. Seasoning would have been nice. There was Siracha hot sauce available but didn't feel that adding Siracha sauce would boost the shrimp kabob. Salad and fries were fine. This dish was not worth $22

As for the beef dish, it was odd to see it being served in bowl, separated from the rest of dish. This dish was ok.

“We all deserve a second chance and II Fornaio is not exempt. I was told to try this place for a nice meal. My family visited this establishment a few weeks back. Unfortunately, we had one of the worst experiences ever. Lack of attentiveness, service, taste, & dining experience. We left waiting to speak to a manager that never came as he was taking care of another matter and I didn't want to wait any longer. I got home and my wife insisted that I call to report our experience and give the manager a chance to do something about it. I spoke with Assistant General Manager Antonio Ramirez who apologized and said he would investigate and call me the following morning. Needless to say he didn't return the call for a week later. I honestly thought he forgot. Mr Ramirez called and once again apologize and offered to pay for our meal on the next visit. He was genuinely concerned about the companies reputation and making up for a poor experience. I returned the following week with a complete different situation. Mr Ramirez introduced himself, followed the hostess to our seat, took the unused glasses and offered to get our drinks. The busser, he could easily pass for Santa Claus, was johnny on the spot with water, tea and refills. Our waitress, Susan was what all should aspire to as far as a quality food server. Susan was suggestive of everything, we chose two of her recommendations and were not unhappy. Between Mr. Ramirez, Susan and Santa Claus (sorry never got the busser's name), my wife and I had the best dining experience that turned our hearts to highly recommend II Fornaio as the place to frequent for that wonderful dining experience. We will definitely return to dine after this time. Thank you for changing our hearts to believe in you. It's time to make Assistant General Manager Antonio Ramirez General Manager with his attitude, demeaner, and loyalty to the company and the return of a good customer experience. Thank you, Thank you and Thank you.“

“The Sun Deck restaurant at the Hotel Del was a cool place to get a drink at. The atmosphere was really neat as it was near the pool and the beach. The drinks took a really long time, but the service was great. Overall we had a really nice time.“
