Hawaiian Restaurants near Encinitas, CA

“About two weeks ago, I went to some Hawaiian barbecue for the first time and I didn’t even know who Hawaii barbecue was a thing and they gave me mac & cheese and the thin steak thing and it was so good. It was amazing that on the car ride home I even ate my leftovers and they had five stars. I don’t know the name now this place I was trying to relive that experience and they had 4.7 stars so I was thinking Man they’d be really good but their menu was very bland and they didn’t even have mac & cheese or the thin steak thing. They just had rice and very basic chicken and steak and I mean it wasn’t bad and they were friendly, but in no way wasn’t special.“

“I’m not normally one to give 4 start reviews but my experience there was not that great, I took my boyfriend here for Father’s Day/ Early birthday dinner & we ordered 2 plates and a spam musubi, we were told that we’d have to wait 5 minutes for the musubi to which we were ok with because we’d get our plates first & can eat that while we wait, but like 30min went by, we had already eaten our plates and were still waiting so I walked up to the lady at the front & she was talking to a couple in front of me and they had a to-go order, I heard them ask her “are you sure everything is in the bag?” And I heard her say “yes, the spam musubi’s are on the top” they left and I said “hi, we’ve been waiting for our musubi” and she goes “oh yeah, let me go check on that” went to the back, I seen her in the hole window on the door that she checked the tray that holds them & there was nothing in it, she came back out and said “sorry we don’t have any available” and I told her we were waiting & you told us your chefs were making them & then you proceeded to give them to the couple that just left & she lied & said “oh no they didn’t order any musubi’s” and when I told her I heard her tell them they were on the top, she changed her explanation and said they just don’t have any left, then offered me a donut, not sure if your donuts taste like musubi’s, but that was an odd replacement & then she handed me $5 and that was it. And for $18, the portions of protein are small, the Mac wasn’t really “Hawaiian Mac” and the pineapple coleslaw didn’t taste like pineapple and there wasn’t even any pineapple pieces in it. I’d like to eventually give this place another try when I’m not so icked about the lady lying to me, accountability is everything! Other than that, I love the atmosphere, it definitely does look like the restaurants on the island.“

“Casual place where you order at the counter. Nothing wrong with the atmosphere, it was very clean. Service and food were great, lots of parking. I liked that they had two options for chicken teriyaki, one with white and one with dard meat. It was a great lunch.“

“We are from Texas. 10 years ago we found surf brothers and the food is delicious! We ordered teriyaki chicken with white rice. We always stop by and take some home when we visit San Diego. The teriyaki sauce is amazing. This place is clean and the staff are friendly.“

“I'd work here if they paid me in poke bowls. So good. Other places the fish is questionable but this place always has a great taste and seems fresh! Oh and since you got rid of your yummy fountain and now just have standard Pepsi $2+ is a little much for a little cup of a Pepsi product .... I miss the old options that were worth the money �“
