“Since I was 4 years old in 1980, I have always believed Western Bagel to be the best bagel in the Los Angeles area (and possibly the world). But random happenstance had me doing business on this particular block of Ventura Blvd and craving a bagel at the same time. I went into Abraham bagel and ordered my favorite, the onion bagel. It is difficult to explain the experience; bagels are 80% texture. And Abraham Bagel wasn't just better than Western Bagel. It was a unique, interesting texture that I'd never experienced in a bagel before. A little bit harder than the Western, but also in this zone of perfection. This bagel that I ate forced me to re-evaluate my bagel scale. I am in awe.“

“The manager is very friendly and professional. I am in a wheelchair, and some of the front desk staff ignore me. I came with my nurse. She waited in line twice and told them I needed to order, showing I was where the handicapped sign was. Both times, they ignored her and went to the next customer. When I said you sipped me, they said I have to wait in line. I did three times but they ignored my nurse. The staff also does not assist my nurse. She was sold two tiny cream cheese instead of the ones in the refrigerator. Plus i do not get a bakers dozen ever. They sell 12 but i say its 13 and they corrct me. I never have these issuss in Van Nuys. Nor when the manager assists me.“

“Matcha review: I am YET to try a bagel which is embarrassing for obvious reasons, but Layla has an excellent matcha. Their cream top slaps, if you do dairy. Otherwise they have a solid regular matcha latte, hot or iced. The atmosphere is so bright and uplifting, and there is literally always a crowd/line (in a good way). I think it speaks for itself. Even weekdays are popping, but the line is totally doable. I come for matcha from time to time, but can’t wait to be back for a bagel because they look bomb.“

“Layla Bagels is a uniquely special bagel place with creative flavors and addictively good & chewy bagels .

I got the Evil Steve on a jalapeños cheddar bagel for brunch and it was perhaps the best brunch bagel of my life ! The combination of slightly spicy pepper jam with tangy goat cheese smear and delicious smoked turkey wrapped in the jalapeño cheese bagel is extraordinary. Best part was the crunchy and crispy shallots to add that final profile in an already special bagel . Out of this world good .

They are also offering a gluten free bagel which is also rare to see .

If Layla were to ever expand to other states they would have a huge following.

“Ever crave a NY style BEC bagel but you live in West LA? Look no further than New York Bagel and Deli! While there are many good bagel places in the city, this has the best bagel quality and value in my opinion. They do everything, from bagel with shmear and lox to BEC and even pizza, all for an affordable price. Highlight is the sandwich combo which is a fat bagel sandwich and a combo. “Mike at Mama Donuts decorated our donuts as a turntable for our daughter’s 50th birthday. It was a vinyl record party theme! The donuts were amazing! The decor, the taste. They fit the theme and they were scrumptious. Mike was so great! He was responsive and his customer service was excellent. I highly recommend Mama’s Donuts whenever you want donuts!“

“This place charges $5 for a large orange juice but the size looks like what most Americans would classify as small/medium. I had to double check google maps to see if I was back in Hawaii again.

“Small family run shop. Solid donuts and solid breakfast sandwiches. We live in the neighborhood and come here often.

Note there is not a lot of seating inside so it’s more of a grab and go. There are a few seats outside.“

“Great bagels, but the shop needs help!

We went on Christmas morning and they were overwhelmed with orders, and a line out the door.

The staff was accommodating as they could be, but clearly needed help. Managing that many orders in a tiny kitchen is difficult!

Nonetheless the bagels were great, thus the popularity. I hope they get some help soon so they can really maximize their potential.

“Super cute coffee shop with very friendly staff and a lovely, sunny corner vibe. Definitely try their signature vanilla bourbon latte. It is excellent, and their large is actually a large, which I appreciate. A great spot to sit, relax, and enjoy the light.“

“Now I love me some bagels. I eat bagels several times in a week. I walked by this place and I said let me look at the menu. The prices seemed pretty good. Then I couldn’t even decide what I wanted because it all looked so darn delicious. People kept trickling in and I’m like oh shoot this place is busy. It was around lunchtime. I was greeted every employee in there seemed super happy with smiles on their face like they loved their jobs. They all worked fast. There was about four or five people making bagels stocking everything and just doing their job very thoroughly. But I will say this if you’re not a bagel fan come here and it will change your mind from how they pair their sauces, meats, eggs, veggies everything altogether you will fall in love with this place. Best bagel ever for the first time customer I will be back. I will become a regular.“

Vegetarian options: The workers are fine with any replacement or add on and there is quiet a few vegetarian options such as the cream cheese on cheesy jalapeño

Dietary restrictions: They have fruit and different types of bagels and cream cheese etc so it meets any dietary meals.“

“By far the BEST coffee, juice, bagels and donuts I have EVER had!!!It’s my first stop when I get to LA and believe me I dream of their iced vanilla ice coffees when I’m home in Canada. First time ever having flavoured coffee without it being flavoured from a sweet syrup. They infuse their beans so bo sugar or cream needed for me.Tip: they do sell the coffee beans so you can bring it home.Favourites: Black Vanilla Ice Coffee, Fresh squeezed orange juice, cheese bagel, glazed donut!The juice is like biting an orange directly.
