Their chicken and veggie kabobs are my go-to favorites, and their falafels, hands down the best I've ever had. Their food certainly lives up to the name with that unmistakable fresh taste every single time.

The restaurant is always spotless and impeccably maintained, which adds to the whole experience. The owner is genuinely one of the friendliest people you'll meet and goes out of his way to make sure every customer leaves happy.

Among all the kebabs, the chicken kebab is our fav!

The scrambled egg we hope it can be slightly larger in portion, but still very flavorful!

“Ever thought of trying a local small business, family restaurant. The guy who runs this place came from Turkiye in 2008. Settled down in SFO, had a family and is living an American dream.
His only complaint is SFO is expensive. Well we can all agree to that.
Food is very tasty.
We tried falafel wrap, chicken gyro and kids gyro with rice. All of these were of great quality. Plus the Turkish delight was fabulous. Owner shared Turkish tea on the house. Plus I ordered fries in kids meal but it came with rice instead. No worries he added fries and refused to take money for it. Well I made it up in the tip.
If you are south SFO and crave Mediterranean food. This is the place.“

“Nice local spot with really good food. I usually get the vegetarian Mousaka. It’s filling. I noticed that the lamb kabobs with pomegranate and rice over a bed of yogurt is also very well made. Nice cosy atmosphere for a meal and conversation.“

“The decor and atmosphere is beyond beautiful along with the presentation 5/5 along with friendly waitresses who came by in the beginning but nobody followed up toward the end since it was self service menu online.

The Shawrma sandwich was 4/5
However the rice 🍚 plate with kabobs was 3/5, meat was decent but probably the worst rice I have tried at any restaurant. I just couldn’t eat, tasted stale something like you would taste from the previous day, I asked the server to get us another rice as it didn’t taste good as it seems like an old patch. He went back there and got me the same rice but warmer. I mean how bad can you mess up the rice. I would rather been told we don’t have any rice right now but we have a salad as alternative I would have took that than dealing with rice that I paid for and can’t eat.
I also go 2 sides of fries, 🍟 they were good but double fries killed the enjoyment of the potatoes. Either they double fry them or get them frozen pre fried which didn’t match the quality and standards this restaurant has been given.
Unfortunately I wouldn’t pay for the premium prices and lower quality again. I’ll probably get the chicken shawarma but that’s about it.“

“A group (6) of us went to celebrate a friends retirement and it was the first time for all of us at Amara. We wanted to to try a variety of dishes since they all sounded so good! James was our waiter, he was amazing and helped us come up with a selection that that was a mix of their Mezzes, Share Plates and Large plates. Their pita bread was to die for, it was so delicious and it helped us sop up every last bit of the sauces from each dish. James also made a suggestion of an off menu Cabbage ( shared plate) that hands down we all loved. The Branzino , the raviolis, Broccoli, egg plant and Muhammara all were delicious with wonderful flavors!! And like I said earlier James was an amazing waiter and contributed to our wonderful meal. “Feb 3rd 2026 this was my first time trying this place, and honestly I’m glad I gave it a try! The space is very clean, welcoming, well decorated, and beautifully colored. The seating plan is well thought out and the music added a captivating energy to the atmosphere of the place. The service is also top. The man who helped me and all the other several customers during my visit here was super kind and it was easy to tell that he had a lot of pride in the place and lit up everyone’s day with his kind energy. He even went out of his way to help me connect to the Wi-Fi, which this is isn’t really the place to do work I noticed, but he was still very kind enough to help me connect which I was very appreciative of. He has a great relationship with all of the regulars too. Throughout my time dining in, I probably saw about 10 regulars and everyone of them were happy to see the man. From their interactions, I was able to tell that there is a genuine relationship between the customers and the man as he greeted each one of them with great energy and enthusiasm. It was all smiles. He was like this with other customers as well, who didn’t seem to be regulars. Oh yeah I forgot to talk about the food! If you are wondering if I recommend the food, I highly recommend! I had the falafel plate and added a side salad. It hit the spot! I wanted to try something else on the menu so I then asked for a bowl of the chicken soup… it came with a lemon wedge and pieces of pita bread. This dish also hit the spot! What's unique about a smaller restaurant like Nomadic Kitchen is that you feel the place more intimated. I like how the owner/manager and server take a great care of us. When we are about to order 4 choices of mezze, the owner/manager said he will take care of the choices for us and give us samples of everything else as well. The result: the beautiful palette of colors and flavors! I was a bit surprised that we got bread rather than pita. Still, it was amazing! We got the grilled lamb, which is quite nice, no hard-to-chew pieces at all. On top of that, the rice and bulgar (I guess) are so delicious with different fragrance and texture. “This place is delightful in everything - hospitality, attention to details… checking if everythibv is to patrons’ liking… - we were offered to move to a larger table to feel more comfortable. Food is AMAZING. Just that. Ok, our group was probably hungry after a walk in cold weather. But the first drink of the Greek IPA, first bite of calamaris or octopus prepped to perfection, the delightful ceviche… - all felt heavenly.

Our whole group asked for second servings of aromatic beer (new to us), all souvlakis kinds were delightful. At the end, an amazing desert miraculously appeared, and I don’t even do deserts usually - ate it all and scraped the plate.
