Laotian Restaurants near Garden Grove, CA

“We ordered laab, pad kapao, Lao sausage, papaya salad, and laab again. We expected the food to lean more Thai, but to our surprise it was distinctly Lao — and that was confirmed when we chatted with the aunties in Laotian. They were incredibly kind, and it was awesome watching them cook. Honestly, this is the first time I’ve had Lao food in the U.S. that didn’t feel watered down.

The papaya salad used ancho; it wasn’t overly pungent, had a bright lime kick, and wasn’t sweet. The Lao sausage had a subtle coconut and lemongrass flavor, plus jeow on the side for dipping. Those two dishes were my favorites — truly the best I’ve had from a Lao restaurant. The laab was excellent too, perfect with sticky rice and fresh chilis. My kiddo had the pad kapao and loved it. Definitely tasty, though I preferred my dishes.

Overall, the aunties were wonderful, and for this Lao guy, the meal felt like home — authentic, flavorful, and still accommodating to different palates without losing what makes Lao food special.

This old market‑style food court also has plenty of other delicious‑looking options. Definitely worth exploring — and absolutely recommend.“

It’s been a minute I’ve dine here.
Came on a Sunday afternoon for lunch w my mom & baby girl 9.13.26

It was a full house since it was during rush hour. Definitely worth the wait,
Sign your name on the guest list and patiently wait.
We were seated within half an hour.

What we ordered

~ Krispy Rice aka Kow Tod is highly recommended. It’s deep fried rice ball that is broken down and toss w some herbs and fermented pork. Has a really distinctive flavor. Zesty lime and it’s not powerful w the herbs. You enjoy it wrapped w lettuce & cilantro or as a fried rice dish.
~ Crying Tiger my daughter loves. The brisket meat is marinated so yummy & flavorful and tender. Comes w the house special fish sauce w lime and chili dipping sauce. Enjoy it w sticky rice or alone as an appetizer. Another highly recommended dish and must get here.
~ Pho Lao, it’s made Lao style. The broth is subtle like Vietnamese Pho but just a different taste. Same beef broth. Give it a try and see the difference. It’s delicious just like how my mom use to make it. Help get my Laos pho fix.

They offer different varieties of Laos dipping paste like Jaeow Bong, tomato paste & chili to purchase.

Sometimes they have Pandan Cherie thai Pandan Che aka Karong Song coconut milk w palm sugar dessert sold in their fridge.

Associate is really nice & friendly. Service is fast and the food here is amazing serving authentic Laos & Thai food. One of the best restaurants in Garden Grove. You won’t be disappointed getting your cravings on.

Restaurant has a simple yes nice vibe, very clean and decent size w only indoor seatings.

Parking can be a bit hard to find since it’s in a very busy plaza along the restaurant alone gets a lot of foot traction. It’s a huge parking lot. Be patient and you’ll eventually find one. Don’t lose HOPE.

“Today I went to rodeo 39 in Garden Grove with some friends and I stumbled across Kra Z Kai's. It was my second time trying Laos barbecue. This place is a hidden gem for sure. Everything was the delicious. The ribs were marinated for 24 hours. The barbecue pork and the chicken were all marinated in the same sauce. The owner told me the service was fast and this whole ambience was nice some of the best food I've had in a long time next time I'm going to Garden Grove. I will come here again.“

“A small restaurant but their Thai food is GOOD!
There is a lil market next door. Love their pad see ew and their mango sticky rice. Every time I come here I try something different, they have like buffet style if you as me exploring new dishes this is an amazing place for it. The only bad thing, they only accept cash.“
