“FoodieLand created a mango sticky rice problem… and I’m not even mad about it. 😭

After shopping in Hercules, BB and I decided to stop by Taste of Laos because I’ve been craving mango sticky rice ever since FoodieLand. I had seen some really positive Yelp reviews, and after this visit, I can confirm the reviews aren’t wrong.

We started with the Prawn Blankets, which are seasoned prawns wrapped in a crispy wonton-style wrapper and served with jeow som, a sweet and tangy Lao chili dipping sauce. There are five to an order, and they were absolutely delicious.

Of course, the main reason I came was for the Mango Sticky Rice. I asked for extra coconut sauce (because we’re not doing things halfway around here 😭), and it came with fresh mango slices, pandan sticky rice, sweet coconut milk, and sesame seeds. Everything was perfectly balanced, sweet, and incredibly satisfying.

The service was exceptional. The ladies working in the dining room were warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind.

I told them I’d be back often because of my newfound mango sticky rice obsession, and I wasn’t kidding. In fact… I may have ordered another one to go. No judgment, please.

“I had such an amazing dining experience here! Every dish we ordered was absolutely delicious, and you can really tell that the restaurant puts a lot of care into both the quality of the ingredients and the presentation.

The Strawberry Salad was an unexpected highlight. It was fresh, vibrant, and beautifully balanced. The sweet and refreshing dish that was flavorful.

The Crab Fat Fried Rice was one of the highlights of the meal. It was fragrant, rich, and packed with umami flavor. They served with seafood sauce on the side that make the dish more anthentic flavor.

The homemade Shumai was juicy, tender, and tasted freshly made. Every bite was packed with flavor and had a delicate texture. The sauce is exactly Thai flavor taste.

One dish that completely exceeded my expectations was the Fried Tofu. It was unbelievably crispy on the outside while remaining soft and silky on the inside. It’s easily one of the crispiest fried tofu dishes I’ve ever had.

The service was warm, friendly, and attentive throughout our visit. Combined with the cozy atmosphere and exceptional food, this restaurant truly delivered an unforgettable dining experience.

If you’re looking for authentic Thai cuisine made with fresh ingredients and incredible flavors, this place is a must-visit. Every dish we tried was outstanding, and I can’t wait to come back and explore more of the menu. Highly recommended!“

“Ate here 4 times. 1: salmon w fish, 2nd: branzino w lime , 3: seabass eggplant and 4th: sweet sour fried pompano. all of them were excellent. thai fish cakes and mushroom dumpling for appetizers were great . My wife had Tom yum soup and coconut pad Thai : both of which she loved . our service was great as well. we live in San jose but we're up in Berkeley for about a few weeks and this Thai restaurant is better than any in South Bay. highly recommended!“

“I'm not a fan of spicy food, but I am a fan of flavorful and delicious food! This place is the real deal, and worth EVERY dime spent. I can customize my food by asking for nothing spicy... and they comply! However, I must say that I'm addicted to the Crab Fried Rice!!! I don't have to customize any of it. I was even brave enough to order the Tom Tom soup which is Hot and Sour soup. This soup is a tasty medicinal soup for any stomach issues or cold and flu issues. What I like the most about this soup 🍲 is that my feet are dancing while I am basking in this flavorful dish You owe it to yourself to get wrapped up in the warmth and and flavorful aroma while healing your body and soul. “I definitely enjoyed the Mango Fried rice dish along with the garlic noodles. Had Thai Iced Tea, which is always a treat. I did call this order in for pick up. When I got there I had to wait a minute, because they were busy but it wasn't long. They gave me an extra Thai iced tea on the house, I didn't need it. Yet it shows the type of business I'm eating at. The ambiance is very welcoming. The art work on the walls of the culture is beautiful. Would recommend friends/family to come and try this place out.“

“Chang Thai is my favorite hidden gem. Small cozy Thai, Lao and Vietnamese cuisine.
Wife does all the cooking herself. Husband is very friendly and attentive. You will feel as if you’re visiting them at their house in Thailand! I love their Lao papaya salad! The best. You choose your own spice level. Everything is served fresh. Great to dine by yourself or with family and friends as well. Great value. Lots of options. And plenty of parking in their huge parking lot. The bus stops right in front! Believe me once you try my little gem. It will also become yours!!! Enjoy!😊“

“We literally found Elephant Thai Cuisine by accident while picking up something nearby, and what a hidden gem in Vallejo! We have been searching for authentic Thai food for a long time. We have tried others near and far, but nothing compares to this.While the food is incredible, the experience is what sets them apart. The owner, Mr. Pooh, and his staff are warm, welcoming, kind, and attentive while remaining highly efficient. They make the experience magnificent.The restaurant is beautifully decorated with elegant, room-sized photos of actual Thailand marketplaces, accompanied by gentle, soothing music.Now for the food: indescribable! Every single dish is consistent. The Massaman curry tastes incredible on Wednesday and exactly the same on Sunday. I pulled up their website while standing outside, and looked at the "Chef's Suggestions" list. I thought the Grilled Short Rib with Garlic Noodle dish sounded good, so I went for it. Everyone inside was extremely friendly to me and polite while I placed my order and waited for a short while. I like my food spicy, but I forgot to say anything about wanting extra heat while ordering. The gentleman at the register said he could include hot sauces for me, and I thanked him. I got my food to go as I planned to walk back to the hotel to eat, but when I opened it 5 minutes later in my room I was not disappointed. The meal was beautifully put together, and it was delicious. I squeezed the orange over the marinated beef, and I added the extra hot sauces: fantastic! I highly recommend trying Tha Siam if you are in the area.“
