We ordered the Thai iced tea to drink, the Lao sausages as an appetizer, and the pad see ew with beef, phao larb, and yellow curry with chicken as mains. Everything was good, and the service was excellent! The spice levels here are no joke, so definitely stay below levels 2-3. The owner is super nice, and she even explained the differences between Laotian and Thai cuisine to us!“

The red duck curry was delicious with sticky rice. Coconut pad Thai was very satisfying and great portion. I saw lots of take out orders getting delivered every several minutes at dinner time. “This is my go to place in the neighborhood for good Thai food - it's fast, affordable, and delicious! The staff are super sweet and make sure you get exactly what you want. We've eaten here countless times, both in person and carry out - pictured is pad Thai and suki yaki soup, but our other favorites include Panang curry, avocado salad, Tom kha soup, and chicken satay. They also have great Thai tea that's not overly sweet. I'm honestly surprised by the negative reviews. I think some folks might not like it because it's not super Americanized versions of dishes and the interior is not the most glamorous. Don't let that dissuade you, this place and it's owners are great!!“

“Came here for drinks and appetizers. Amazing crispy catfish salad (so bright, balanced, savory, herbaceous) and the mak grut (keffir lime leaf) cocktail was one of the best cocktails I’ve ever tasted—complex, fragrant, refreshing and just delicious. As a person with Thai ancestry who is picky about his Thai food, I definitely recommend this place for a creative spin on Thai food that still respects the proper balance of flavor, at very least based on the two things I tasted!Great service and atmosphere as well. “Such a hidden gem - One of the best Thai restraunts Iv'e had in the Bay Area! They have a main menu that mostly contains the more standard Thai dishes that might see at a lot of other places. But they also have a hidden menu with some really unique Thai dishes that I haven't seen very often here but had when I visited Thailand and this brought back tons of memories! For the 2 of us, we got the fresh raw shrimp appetizer, papaya salad with blue crab, crab omlette, and stir fried morning glory. All the dishes were yum, but the first 2 were quite spciy! Servers are also super friendly and price is very reasonable for SF especially considering its location in the Marina. Highly recommend!“

“FAVORITE RESTAURANT IN TOWN! I have absolutely NO idea why people line up outside of the crummier Thai places around here to get mediocre food loaded with MSG. Lapisara is the ABSOLUTE best, it’s so hard to find Thai this good anywhere, and this place does an extra bonus trick of being a yummy American brunch place before 2pm… much saner on the wait time for brunch and frankly more generously portioned than its famous brunch neighbor Heist. Tbh I’ve tried almost everything in this radius and now I don’t waste time going anywhere else, I get both brunch and dinner here when I come to SF.I seriously don’t understand why they don’t get more clientele. Tried so many other places in this area and nothing compares. Staff is nice too. Make this your go to instead of lining up for that tiny hole-in-the-wall a few blocks down.“

The service was on point too; our server was super friendly, gave us great recommendations, and really knew their stuff. Now, let’s talk food because that’s the real star here. I went for the Pad Kee Mao, and it was absolutely delicious - spicy, flavorful, and just packed with all the good stuff. But the unexpected highlight? Their oysters! Affordable, fresh, and just so tasty, they were a total game-changer for me. It gave me the chance to try their Thai beef boat noodle soup. Omg it was perfect. The broth was a flavorful deep sweet soy sauce based broth with earthy spice undertones. “This is a great value, and a relaxing dining experience tucked away in a dingy alley downtown. There are some a la carte appetizers, but dinner is prix fixe - a "set" that is centered around a protein (beef, chicken, fish, vegetarian) but comes with about 6-7 dishes total, including dessert. Regular set is $25; specials are $38. We ordered an appetizer to start, which was SO GOOD (brussell sprouts and pork belly), but there is so much food is in the set meal we were really stuffed. Good selection of nonalc bevvies, wines by the glass, but only one beer (Singha!). Room is really lovely oasis in an otherwise dingy alley downtown. Service was a little rushed - seems to be just their standard approach -- which is great if you are trying to get in an out but if you want to not feel pushed out suggest you be very clear about not wanting everything on top of each other, eg, they brought out our main set almost immediately after the appetizer, and the dessert while we were still eating dinner (?) - I actually told them to take the dessert back and serve after we were completely done with dinner.“

“First and foremost price vs taste 5 stars without question. If you need a quick fill up while exploring the city or mid day get me through you can not go wrong. I had the combination #2 individually the flavors and balance of each portion of the meal is great. I've had bad curry before and this one is good not great. Everything on the plate was balanced well. My only complaint is plating. Next time I will ask for the salad to be plated separately. It's a great addition and needed if you want to clean your pallet. The problem I had was the vinegar spread into Pad Thai noodle and cut into the richness off the dish. I enjoyed the proportion of protein vs noodle and curry. This place gets 5 stars based on the amazing value. If the dishes were in the $20 range than I would be disappointed in single plate plating.Vegetarian options: Need to communicate this with server as many dishes have meat. Including fried won tons.“

“Our neighborhood finally has a new gem of a restaurant! Everything about this spot is wonderful. The attention to detail in the decor (cozy fireplace, exposed brick, distressed woodwork, leaf-shaped cushions, gold silverware, plants galore) is transportive. The food is ravishingly fresh and thoughtfully prepared. On two different visits, we shared Market Salads, Chia Bowls, Yogurt Bowls, and Lava Eggs. Tanzie, the owner, is delightful, and you can tell she has a hand in every dish. My 8-year-old, who is a very picky eater, loved the yogurt bowl, eggs, and especially the Thai Beignets! Finally, a brunch I can look forward to, a few steps from my house...“

“Our dining experience at Bangkok Garden last evening was nothing short of delightful. From the moment we stepped through the door, we were greeted by the warm smiles of the staff. They promptly escorted us to our table, where our orders were taken and served with remarkable efficiency. Accompanied by our two young children, who were exceptionally well-catered to, we indulged in a variety of dishes. The grilled chicken satay and the fresh spring rolls were the stars of the evening. It's certain that we will be returning for another memorable meal. Bangkok Garden comes highly recommended!“

“The food is very good, as are the prices. Duck curry is excellent, although they could be a tiny bit more generous with the duck. A sense of authentic Thai cuisine and culture right down to the seasoning and herbal tea leaves.Vegetarian options: A few vegetarian options.Wheelchair accessibility: Door seems wide enough. No stairs. Some tables accessible from the doorway. It is a relatively small restaurant.“

“I never had the Khao Soi noodle soup. Wow. All I could say quietly to my love was "this is so f__ng good! OMG" I understand there could be better somewhere else, I don't know, but what I do know is that I think about this dish almost every day. For me, one of the best noodle soups I've ever had regardless of cuisine. It does have a little kick so if you can't eat spicy food you might think it's spicy. If you can at least tolerate a modest level of spice, then you're good to go. As others have mentioned they like to ask if you want duck instead of what kind of meat which I know can influence your decision. I already knew this before coming here so I was prepared.I ordered it with tofu because I just didn't want meat. The tofu was nicely prepared and not over cooked and tough like too many places make it. That ruins a dish for me. I will probably have meat next time since I do enjoy meat.It is a delicious balance of spice, richness from coconut milk/cream, the warmth of curries, lemongrass, lime... Oh just delightful. I want sure about the noodle choice but after the first bite, I understood.Pad Thai is a nice balance, not too sweet, not overly rich, just to executed. Can't wait to come here again and bring my daughter who loves Tom Kha Gai. This is similar but for me, another level better.“

“This is a cozy little hole in the wall spot for authentic Laotian food. The food is consistent for dine-in and takeout and has great portions for the price. I'm always guaranteed leftovers.I suggest trying the namkhao, gaeng nor mai, and raw beef laab (if you like raw, but cooked beef is available as well).Everything about the place is great, besides the location. It's happens to be in a not so friendly looking location, but don't let that stop you from trying out their food. Get take out and you won't be disappointed.“

“We've been thinking about trying this restaurant for some time now, and I'm very glad we did. Our past Thai favorite, Champa Garden, seems to have gone downhill. Charm Thai Bistro, our new favorite, is much closer. We split an appetizer, the puff pastry turnovers, which we never had in Thailand. The waiter told us that they were street food. Whatever, they're delicious. Then we had a Pad Thai (very good) and a green curry. I thought it was perfect, but it was a little spicy for my husband, so if you prefer a milder spiced dish, tell the waiter. I can't wait to try their other curries and house specialties. I might even try the Black Sticky Rice Mango pudding, even though after having it in Thailand, it's always something of a disappointment in the U.S.“

“Cozy, petite Thai eatery on Lombard, designed to evoke a manicured side street in Bangkok.Tom Kha Soup, a coconut milk broth wonderfully fragrant from lemongrass, kaffir lime leaf, galangal and chili — perfect with a side of rice noodles dipped in.While tasty, the price point seems to reflect more the neighborhood than the kitchen’s unique ability.
