Vientian Cafe Reviews
I really love the Thai sausage and the Thai iced tea—they are both delicious! However, the staff wasn't friendly or welcoming, and parking can sometimes be quite difficult to find.
Probably the best and spiciest food experience I’ve had, true Oakland gem
The food was tasty, many different choices. Didn't have to wait long at all for food.

Vientian Cafe offers a culinary experience that will linger long after the meal is over. With authentic Lao flavors, delicious dishes like pad thai and curries, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, this neighborhood gem is a must-visit. The restaurant is family-run and located in East Oakland, providing a cozy, neighborhood vibe with street parking only. The Lao Special menu allows diners to order small portions of diverse foods, including dishes like Mok Pa, a Lao specialty with tender catfish, and fermented pork sausage, which is quite unique. The green curry with chicken is flavorful and fresh, and the angel wings are highly recommended. The place is very clean, and attentive service enhances the experience. Visitors often enjoy trying lesser-known cuisine, and portions are generous enough to take some home. Overall, Vientian Cafe offers an authentic taste of Laos in a friendly setting, making it a hidden gem for those seeking flavorful, traditional Lao food.
