“3/5 for a first timer during restaurant week… the special menu was $50 per person…. we never got any bread with our dinner (and didn’t realize we were left out until we were on dessert)… and, portions were small, so the bread would have been nice, especially for $50… also, the server made us make our food order at the same time as our drinks… personally, i like to have a drink or two before i order my food… so, the service was rushed in that sense… and no one asked me if i wanted a second glass of wine i had the veal and my friend had the lobster ravioli… both tasted decently but, again, small portions… the burrata was amazing and the desserts (tiramisu and lava cake) were pleasant i think i’d like to try again on a night that isn’t as busy, and order off of the actual menu“

“This is a tiny neighborhood eatery with mega upscale quality and service. The burger melts in your mouth and your taste buds explode. Simple, delicious, unique. The quality of the meat shines through.

The chorizo deviled eggs are exceptional with a dense but creamy texture, and so many wonderful flavors.

Fries are crispy and heavily seasoned with flavorful salt and pepper.

Minimal seating, like I said, tiny but inside a few and about the same outside. Extensive and excellent wine list.

“My wife and I went to this cozy place for dinner based on a recommendation. GOOD CALL! Our server was pleasant and checked in on us to make sure we were happy. The food was delivered fast and hot. We shared the 16 oz. T-bone steak. It came out pre cut, ready to share. We also ordered a wonderfully great big salad and a wonderful empanada with beef. The empanada was pleasantly spicy, but not overly. The steak came with lovely potatoes. We also ordered a side of broccolini. I’m not a big veg guy, but I have to say the broccolini was delicious. All said the meal wasn’t the cheapest, but was worth every bite.“

From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff struck the perfect balance of being friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The housemade focaccia deserves a special mention: airy, perfectly seasoned, and quite possibly the best I’ve ever had. For the main course, I enjoyed the bucatini all’amatriciana. The pasta was clearly house-made, cooked to perfection, and the sauce had that authentic depth of flavor that only true Southern Italian cooking delivers. We finished with an affogato, which was the ideal ending—simple, rich, and satisfying. Monzu offers authentic Southern Italian fare with genuine hospitality, and everything we tried reflected both freshness and craftsmanship. I waited outside with a group of friends for 15/20 minutes before they opened the door for us. Once seated, not only did they make it clear but encouraged us to take our time, enjoy the space and the drinks. We spent 3hrs spending quality, undistracted time with each other. The coffee, matcha and avo toasts we ordered were exceptional.

The atmosphere made the experience feel intentional. Not once did I wonder “where is my coffee or server…” or felt like we were being rushed out.

This was THE BEST San Diego coffee AND restaurant experience I’ve had in years.

I love that they always have seasonal menu items depending on what’s in season. Pool is free, AC kicks butt, and they have a great outdoor space if you ever did have a larger group. Dogs are also allowed which is nice if we ever wanna bring our pup.“

We decided to try here for something different for breakfast add were we definitely pleased!

We started with the guava and cheese gelatte, a pastry that pleasure senses like a soft plushy sledgehammer. WOW!

The Smiley Christo, a tasty breakfast sandwich that I did not want to stop as well as the Mc Muff… that was even better!

All washed down with a Buko Pandan Latte, iced, and a B.S. Palo Santo Latte, hot.

“Pizza was really delicious. We had a margarita, pepperoni, Hawaiian and the special. We ordered antipasta salad. It normally comes with dressing on the side but it had no dressing this time. “We eat here a few times a month, mostly Sundays, always pep. pizza, been ordering that from Filippis pizzas throughout SD for decades. The ppl at this one in particular are always super nice and they're very hard working. The tall fella in the front, the 2 waitresses, all the unsong heroes in the back, I just wanted to take the time to thank them all. This pizza I got today is probably the best one I ever ate from Filippis haha it was super fluffy, absolutely fantastic.“
