“With my wedding just a month away, I’ve been having so much fun preparing the menu and exploring different restaurants to create a beautiful variety of flavors and nationalities for our reception. I sampled chicken from four different spots around Los Angeles—each one had something going for it, but none felt quite right for our big day. One was a bit dry, another a little too crispy, and another slightly too salty.
Just when I was considering renting a large barbecue grill and cooking the chicken myself, a friend suggested I try this restaurant. It’s a true hole-in-the-wall spot tucked along a very busy street—exactly the kind of hidden gem you might overlook. In fact, on the day I stopped by, there were multiple emergency vehicles less than a block away. That might make some people hesitate, but I decided to trust the recommendation and give it a try.
I ordered the half chicken meal—and I’m so glad I did! It was absolutely delicious. The flavor, tenderness, and seasoning were spot on. Even my son agreed, and he hadn’t liked any of the other chicken options I brought home for him to taste.
In the end, the incredible taste made it completely worth stepping a little outside my comfort zone. Without a doubt, this is the chicken we’ll be serving at our wedding reception. I’m so happy to have found the perfect place!“

“Wow. I just put my fork in to pull some chicken meat off and it was so tender the bone popped right out (even though it wasn’t my intent) and came off 100% clean. Unreal.. reminds me of the food back home. Can’t wait to try everything on the menu including the fried eggplant vegan sandwich. We got the lemon chicken, falafel, and fried cauliflower, which is more like a cauliflower steak than florets. Delicious but just an fyi.“

“the chicken slaps! got the 3 tender combo, and these are by far some of the biggest tenders i’ve ever had (def should’ve got the 2 count). I ordered them with the “spark” seasoning and imo hits the perfect spicy but not too hot level. also ordered the cheese curds which were great as well! plenty of parking which is rarity in LA. 9/10 experience!“

“This place is insane value. The sandwich ingredients are fresh and the chicken is very crispy. My second time going and it’s just as good as the first time.
If you like spicy the sauce is perfect numbing flavor. I already want to go back and can’t wait to try the other menu items.
Also if you like purple yam the Goguma latte is very creamy/rich and refreshing.
The owners are so nice and friendly- I’m surprised this place isn’t packed. Look forward to trying again soon.“

“I ordered the slider, tender, french fry combo and loved it. The slider was very hot. I’m thinking that it had an extra spicy sauce on it. It made my nose, run a little and feel compelled to eat a bunch of french fries to reduce the spiciness in my mouth. But, I loved it! The tender was not as spicy and slightly dry, so I put some of the honey that the nice gentleman at the counter gave me when I picked it up. I originally ordered the food and intended on bringing it home, but changed my mind and Ate it in the restaurant because I Didn’t want it to get cold.
I loved the food and wish there was a Dave’s Hot Chicken restaurant closer to my home. The food reminded me of a Famous hot chicken restaurant in Nashville. I was so glad to have that food again. 😊😋 Btw, I gave The atmosphere four stars Because it was cold in there. But that’s how fast food restaurants do it. I did love the music selection. I heard ABC (which I couldn’t get enough of in the 80s!) and Blondie and a couple of current songs. That made it seem more homey and unique to me. Overall, it was a great experience. The people at the counter were very friendly. I wanted to wash my hands afterwards and saw that there was a keypad on the restroom, but I figured it out on the first try, which was nice. 😂“

“My friends and I came down to LA from the bay area and we stopped by for lunch. The man at the counter was really chill and hospitable and gave us recommendations on the menu. I got the chicken tenders with mac. The mac and cheese was so good, super cheesy. The tenders were super crunchy and seasoned well. My friend really liked the chipotle ranch. Portions were huge, especially the loaded mac buffalo chicken bowl. Would come again!“

“At first didn't think much about the place due to the store front and name bbq chicken, figure it was just a regular chicken spot but I was in a mood for wings. While viewing the menu I was intrigued by the flavors offered. Once entering location it's was refreshing to smell and see the cleanliness and aroma of something that immediately caught my attention which had me anticipating greatness.. and thats not all, the service was to the Capital T. The gentleman at the register answer all my questions with plenty of recommendations based on my taste. I was more then pleased and I didn't even order yet. Once I ordered I couldn't wait for my honey garlic wings with a side of pickled radishes. After my order was completed I was handed a buzzer to inform me when my order was ready. Now I waited in the car not sure if there was seating in the back cause I didn't ask nor venture I just wanted to head to the car and express my opinion to my spouse.. no more than 10 -15 mins later give or take food was ready. Now let me tell you i very impressed by the smell. Plus the container was perfect fully closed with air pockets so the 🐔 could breath. Now this always makes a difference no matter how the food smell. Maintaining that crispyness I look for.. now let me get to this chicken. Boy/ Girl let me tell you, chicken sooooo good make you wanna slap your momma. Flavor 10, texture 10, plus the service 10, this a perfect game for me. Triple doubles. me and wifey was licking each other finger fighting for the last drip. Been a while since I had something this good in Cali. “Amazing chicken sandwich, fried to order. The slaw that’s on top is perfect, it has a little bit of cilantro and jalapeño. I got the hot, and I like spicy, I think next time I will get the extreme. Amazing mouth numbing spice from the Szechuan peppercorn, all the flavors work really well together. Since the chicken is really oversized I would recommend getting an extra sauce to dip it in, either the hot honey or the daybird sauce. I was too excited from how good it smelled and forgot to take a picture before I started eating, but look at this amazing cross-section!“

“I decided to give this place a try after having heard a lot of great things about it. Usually when I want good fried chicken i end up going to Gus's but i figured it was time to try some place new for a change. I ordered take out and the food came out the way I expected it. The chicken had a similar batter as Gus's does just minus the spiciness. It was good but it lacking on flavor in my opinion. Salty but no spice. Sure they gave me hot sauce cups for the chicken to help out but i prefer how they do it at Gus's instead. The mashed potatoes i got were good though, I enjoyed the flavor and the good kick the gravy got too. The fries were okay. I believe they are regular 3/8 of an inch straight cut fries with their own seasoning. So think crinkle cut thickness but straight instead. The biscuits were good though too. Nothing crazy about it but it was more bready than flaky if that makes sense. Something different but it was good. All in all my visit here to Honey's was alright, food was good but it wasn't enough to change my mind about Gus's and I still prefer to go there instead. But I think this place is still worth a try for those who were iffy like I was. It didn't know my socks off but it was still good nonetheless. I might have to come back and try the chicken sandwich or something else on the menu next time.“

“Small shop inside the mall but the wings is fabulous. The service is excellent, super nice and friendly. This was our first time try the wings there. We love the Yam fry also, fresh and yummy. I normally go to the Pico Union one but this one has easier parking and more seating. They also have more selection but I've never gotten anything but the chicken. The guy manning the business in the mourning was personable and had great customer service skills. The burger had a lot of flavor great ratios of meat, cheese, onions, and bread wasn’t too bready. The fries are solid lightly seasoned. I personally like a little more but you can always add more but can’t take it off so I get it. I’m going to come back and try the chicken, can’t wait.
