“Stopped for lunch a couple weeks ago. It was our first time dining at the Grateful Gypsy Bistro. I had the fresh pasta with bolognese, Hubby had a burger. We both were beyond impressed. My Bolognese was delicious! Best I’ve ever had from a restaurant. Imo- better than the one at Pasta Moon! Hubby’s burger was equally delicious… Food was amazing! Portions were plentiful. We will definitely be back!“

“Worth the Detour: Daddy’s House of Ribs Delivers Smoky Perfection in Tiny Lockeford
Picture this: you’re cruising Highway 88 through the sleepy farm town of Lockeford, population 3,200, past the legendary Lockeford Meat & Sausage Co., when a hand-painted sign screams “RIBS” in red letters. Pull in. You’ve just found Daddy’s House of Ribs, a 40-seat BBQ shrine that smells like hickory heaven and feels like a family reunion you actually want to attend.
Owner Alvin “Big Daddy” Sims built the pit himself—an 8-foot beast that kisses every rack with oak and applewood for 6–8 hours. No shortcuts, no boil-then-sauce nonsense. The motto painted above the counter says it all: “We don’t hide our meat under sauce.” Translation: the bark is the star.
I ordered the full rack of St. Louis-cut pork ribs ($34 with two large sides) and added green beans because, well, balance. What arrived was a mahogany cathedral of meat. Twelve bones, each one lacquered in a peppery bark so thick it crunched like caramelized bacon. Tug gently and the meat surrendered—pink smoke ring, molten fat, zero chew. One bite and I forgot words. The mild house sauce (bourbon-kissed, tangy-sweet) sat untouched until the last three ribs, when I finally dipped out of curiosity. Unnecessary. The ribs are that good solo.
Now, the green beans. Don’t roll your eyes—these aren’t the sad cafeteria spears. Fresh-snapped, simmered low and slow with smoked ham hock, onion, and a whisper of garlic, they collapse into silky, porky bliss. Bright, salty, addictive. I ate every last one with a spoon and considered licking the bowl. Pro move: crumble a rib bone in there for extra smoke.
Sides rotate daily, but the cornbread muffin is non-negotiable—golden dome, crackly edges, honey-sweet crumb that steams when you split it. Wash it down with iced tea so strong it could wake a coma patient.
The vibe? Pure Americana cool. A turquoise ’59 Cadillac tailfin slices through one wall, signed jerseys from local heroes hang above booths, and a baby grand in the corner begs “Play Me!” On Saturdays, a kid inevitably tickles out “Heart and Soul” while you gnaw bones. Outdoor picnic tables overlook the sausage shop across the street—grab links to go and thank me later.
Service is small-town gold. Big Daddy himself circled twice, asking “How we doin’, baby?” and refilled tea without being asked. Tab for one full rack, two sides, muffin, and tea: $41 before tip. In 2025, that’s a highway robbery in reverse.
One note: they close at 6 p.m. sharp (7 p.m. Fri/Sat). Arrive by 5 or risk the dreaded “pit’s cold” sign. Call ahead on weekends; the parking lot overflows with Bay Area plates.
Daddy’s isn’t chasing Yelp hype or TikTok fame. It’s chasing the memory of your uncle’s backyard cookout, only executed with pitmaster precision. I left with sauce on my shirt, a Styrofoam box of leftovers, and zero regrets. Next trip I’m tackling the beef dino ribs. Lockeford is now on my permanent BBQ pilgrimage map.
Five smoky stars. Bring wet wipes and an empty stomach.“

“I’ve fallen in love with this place. The first time my husband and i came, we noticed the customer service wasn’t there but we took into consideration it was very busy. So that’s understandable. But we gave it another chance and i believe we met the owner & she was very sweet & very welcoming. The Mazapan latte with oat milk is the best. The Mexican culture is very beautiful as well. I’d recommend this place over Starbucks, Dutch bros.“

“Went to the Fruit Bowl for the very first time today. We had lunch first at their Bake Shop. It was nice and air conditioned! They make wonderful sandwiches! Spent lots on cherries, apricots, cherry pie, pumpkin bread, marble rye bread, whiskey pepper steak sauce, cherry pepper sauce, pickled beets and better than brittle candy. The place was clean. They had really cute shopping baskets. The staff there were very friendly and helpful. Will be back there again. Highly recommend to all!!“
“Best wine quality for the price/case anywhere. Excellent, attentive, and knowledgeable wine steward. A large section of varietals and blends that are all grown and produced on the estate. Something for everyone's palate and level of wine knowledge.“

“This is another place you're made to feel like old friends. This is family owned and they welcome you with a genuine warmth. Denise (mom of the family) is your hostess and along with excellent wine usually has a home made treat to offer up. Its a place you immediately become friends with other patrons. I had the Cab...excellent ! And my gentleman had the Zin. P.S...NO small pours here! Check their schedule as they are not open everyday, but usually open at noon over the weekend. Highly Recommended!!“
“Lovely owner gracious and knowledgeable . I’ve been wine tasting for some years and she still taught me something new that I didn’t know. Good variety of wines and some that other area wineries don’t create.“

“This place was phenomenal especially for the price big scoops of protein lots of options. The price had gone up and the scoops have gotten smaller. Rewards are hot and miss I have spent $70 and received one point but they don’t tel you that. Of you have multiple bowls to multiple transactions. Also I did a Instagram promotion and they changed their mind and I lost my reward 🙄. Staff is always late teens young adults mostly nice some are better than others. Still a solid place .“

“We love coming here!! It is two adults with three kids and it can get pricey. However, the food is DELICIOUS and my kids will actually eat all their food so we know it will be worth it. The owner is always so kind and sweet. He always makes sure to make sure we have everything. Once I had gone with just my kids and he helped create a safe place for them there and I appreciate that so much. They now also have games to play and the best part is that they are free. He could charge lots for arcade games and doesn't - I think that says a lot about him. We will definitely continue being loyal customers here!“

“Delicious, quality wines, beautiful walking garden to enjoy the tastings in. Quality of wine was standout to other tastings in the area. Loved the petite Syrah and Albariño, bought both. Ainsley helped us, she was a pleasure, truly enjoyed the visit.“
“Old world style elegant and nuanced wines in Lodi !! I did not know that till I met John and Lisa at Prie this weekend. They grow/source a number of European grape varietals like Dornfelder (Germany), Teroldego (Italy), Alicante Bouschet (Spain) besides the staples of Lodi area like Syrah, Barbera, Zin. What makes the wines very special is the philosophy of wine making - minimalist. The wines are not bold or jammy. They are subtle, balanced and complex.John and Lisa are also wonderful and kind human beings who care a lot about the world. I got to know them in a leisurely chat on a warm afternoon. The tasting area is a a calm soothing place, just to have such conversations with friends and family while sipping some vino.Highly recommend if you love old world style wines.“
“Stopped in on a busy afternoon. Brennan greeted me warmly, told me to sit anywhere I liked, and took my order shortly thereafter.
If it’s your first time, be sure to do a tasting of their red wines or just grab a glass of the superb Old Ghost. Great wine, professional staff, and a convivial environment… I’ll definitely be coming back here.“

The atmosphere was electric, with a perfect blend of craft beer enthusiasts and music lovers coming together to create an unforgettable experience. The staff was friendly and accommodating, ensuring that both the performers and the audience had a seamless and enjoyable time. The sound quality was top-notch, allowing our music to resonate with the crowd in all its glory. “Burger IM had been calling my name for weeks! I stopped by Raley's after picking up my twins from school because they offer fresh fruit for any students free of charge, and immediately noticed the changing Neon signs with all that they offer. Later that evening, my husband, myself, and our 3 boys entered the establishment. We were greeted immediately upon arrival, offered free games for the boys, including air hockey and foosball. The older gentleman was completely patience while we looked through their extensive yet appetizing menu. We ordered some of everything. While waiting for our food, he took the time to show us a separate room, disgusted for birthday parties, or any celebration. He even stated that we could bring our on good in, or a food truck if we preferred. My oldest ordered a cheeseburger (plain with lettuce only) and fries and rated it a 10/10. My twins ordered the same, 1 hamburger plain with ketchup only, 1 cheeseburger with lettuce only. My husband ordered a cheeseburger with mushroom and fries, he also rated it a 10/10. I myself, ordered the chicken wings bone in with habanero sauce. I also rated the chicken a 10/10 and was also given an extra side of hananero sauce upon request for an additional price. The chicken was hot, flavorful, and juicy. Thank you Burger IM! See you soon!!“
“Beautiful grounds with a very welcoming atmosphere and staff. We had our wedding here and could not have asked for a better experience. The new barrel room was a great addition for accommodating large groups no matter the weather conditions.
Be sure to try the Amada Mia Red, and well as the Teroldego!“

“Some people feel unworthy of others success and don't want to see others experiencing happiness. They believe they are the best, but one day, they will long to be in the company of those they once overlooked. Their inflated attitude will eventually lead to problems for them.

“They make some really good sandwiches, and their customer service is excellent. This is definitely a place worth checking out. They even make their own wine and have a wine-tasting room. From pot pies to sandwiches to desserts, there's so much to choose from -- and you can even enjoy a glass of wine with friends or family. Please try their Butter Chicken -- it's one of the best I've ever had. Go in with an open mind and an open heart. They'll give you great food and the best customer service. Thank you for introducing high-quality Indian food to the area. It's nice to have something new here, and even better that it's genuinely good.“
