Awan Reviews
This place was within walking distance of where we were staying, which made it such a great find! Everything is fully vegan, with so many delicious and unique flavors to choose from. The ice cream was amazing, and even the cones were delicious! I would definitely come back and try more flavors.
Simply the best
Awan on Melrose has easily become one of my favorite dessert spots. I think it’s important to point out that this isn’t ice cream—it’s a frozen dessert—and somehow I find myself enjoying it more than the majority of actual ice creams I’ve tried. And this is coming from someone who isn’t vegan, dairy-free, or gluten-free. I have no dietary reason to choose it; I come here simply because it’s that good.

Awan is a vegan ice cream place in LA that offers a variety of refreshing and rich flavors, including Gaviota strawberry and mint chocolate chip. The Saffron Pistachio Date Rosewater has distinct flavors, while the Chocolate Oreo and Dayglow Coffee provide smoother options. This spot is known for its Indonesian ice cream made with high-quality, lactose-free coconut milk. The best flavors include vanilla bean, yuzu lemonade, matcha, and kluwek chocolate chip, which are perfectly creamy and not overly sweet.
The interior design is unique and inviting, contributing to a relaxed vibe. The blue yuzu lemonade remains a refreshing choice, and the Valencia orange is a citrusy fruity delight. The almond marzipan surprises with its floral taste, and the spiced apple oat crumble is heavy on apple but delicious. The gula jawa flavor is sweet, creamy, and addicting, even for those who don't like coconut. Customers can order a small jar to go or a small cup with one scoop of one flavor. Street parking is available, with more spots usually on Larchmont. The employees are friendly and often let customers sample flavors, making it a great spot for an after-dinner snack or dessert.
