Based on the reviews, El Huarachito in Lincoln Heights is a beloved spot serving real Mexican food that feels like eating at home. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and like a tía’s house. The food is incredible, with huge portions. The chilaquiles with mole is a standout, with a sweeter mole balanced by beans. Other popular meals include the taquitos, quesabirria tacos, chilaquiles with beans, eggs, and steak, the steak and grilled shrimp plate with bell peppers, onions, and squash, and the machaca. All plates come with fresh homemade corn tortillas. The café de olla is perfectly sweet and spiced, and the Jamaica agua fresca is great but a bit sweet. The service is outstanding, with a passionate owner who makes the experience feel personal. A couple of things to know: it is cash only, and there is street parking or parking available to the left of the building in the back. This is a Lincoln Heights staple that deserves support during the week, not just the weekend. Highly recommended.
