El Sarape is a small, unassuming seafood restaurant in Boyle Heights that serves delicious, homemade-style dishes. Despite its humble appearance, the restaurant offers a variety of tasty entrees, including ceviche mixto and coktel de shrimp, and generous portions of avocado. The empanadas are freshly fried and soft in the middle. Be prepared for spicy food, especially the chili, which packs a punch. The staff is friendly, and the patio seating area has a TV. Note that it's cash only and take-out only, but you can bring your own drinks and relax on the patio. Parking is easy and free on the street.
