“As someone born and raised in Greece,
I’m very particular about what I call authentic Greek food—and Taverna at The Mar Vista is the real thing. 🇬🇷
The food genuinely brings me back home.
The recipes have been passed down through three generations, and you can taste that tradition in every dish.
This isn’t Americanized Greek food; it’s the kind of simple, flavorful, traditional cooking I grew up with in Greece.
A special mention to Maria, the consulting chef—she is absolutely incredible.
Her passion, knowledge, and respect for authentic Greek cuisine come through beautifully in the food.
Their Sunday lunch/brunch and traditional Greek BBQ are a must—beautiful grilled meats, fresh Greek salad, tzatziki, warm pita,
and all the flavors you expect from a real Greek taverna.
The service is excellent—warm, attentive, and genuinely hospitable—and the ambience is amazing.
Sitting outside under the trees honestly gives you that relaxed Mediterranean feeling of a Sunday afternoon back in Greece.

“This place is a MUST VISIT! Incredible food, stunning patio and ambiance, and the service was out of this world. Our server, Shirel, was extremely knowledgeable and made sure we were taken care of throughout the entire experience. That is what it is at Alisa - not dinner - an experience! “We are from NYS and stopped in Malibu and absolutely loved the food! I had the falafel bowl and my husband had the lamb shoulder pita. We have a large Mediterranean population where we are from. The tzitzki sauce was honestly the best I've ever had. The falafel was fresh and flavorful.“

“The food was fantastic! The service was good too but at times it felt like there was too much time between when our server came by. The drinks took a long time to come out, and when they arrived on of the drinks was spilled by the server. The 4th course came out before the 3rd course. The $70 dinner sampler is a great way to try a variety of food but it's not really a great value; the portions were almost laughable. Corkage is allowed for a $35 per bottle fee.“

“mann i love this place! this my second day in a row! i literally come here every other week either for the atmosphere, i love the staff they always on the grind everytime i walk in, & this the only location that play all the R&B slaps 🔥 immediately a vibe! The manager my boiii! He the coolest individual with dope energy everytime he see me its always love. I come here usually to get my favorite medi-plate “salmon fillet” w/brown rice, or my other favorite salmon Alfredo pasta! They both my top tops of all time here! You can’t sleep on the dessert or the falafel wrap!
Today I’m gettin the Kale Salmon Salad w/ brown rice! As you can tell by this review this about to become another favorite on the list! if you guys haven’t tried chicken Maison yet, please do yourself a favor and treat yourself don’t cheat yourself! guaranteed you will love anything you choose hands down’ just try anything on the Menu! “Greek Salad is nice and the workers are nice. I tried chicken gyro but it is far far away from what it tastes like in Greece, the only familiar taste was the pita bread. The tzatziki sauce is also bland, needs more improvment. Overall it's an okay place that I would recommend to eat at.“
