Our fav Shanghai restaurant closed, and our search for a new one brings us here. The rice cakes and seaweed fish was very very good. I so enjoyed lunch w/my friend that I brought my fam back for dinner the same week. The lion's head soup and green beans were delicious. We will be back to try more dishes. Shanghai Gourmet was a little authentic Shanghainese style restaurant offering great food at reasonable prices. The service was friendly but limited, with some staff speaking limited English. The restaurant served delicious Shanghai dishes, including rice cakes and seaweed wrapped fish. The lion's head soup and green beans were also highly recommended. While the establishment had a molded smell that needed attention, it was known for its duck rice and stew pork, which many considered the best in the area. Though it offered affordable prices compared to other Shanghai restaurants, the food quality could be inconsistent at times. Unfortunately, the restaurant is now permanently closed, with a sign on the front door indicating "renovation." Overall, Shanghai Gourmet was a gem for those who enjoyed authentic Chinese flavors and great Shanghai cuisine.
