Was a patron of their single-serving entremes for a number of years now, and have both dined in and taken out. Got take out today (shelter-in-place order), and waited 10 minutes for the person behind the window to notice me. After noticing me, he promptly came to greet and help me with my order. I placed my order here via Yelp but they did not receive my order. Since the store had the entremes I ordered, I got what I wanted and was on my way out with a complementary coffee full review
2/22/20 I think it all comes down to expectations. If you've been to France, or the more renowned French pastry shops in SF, you'd have one expectation. If you've been mostly eating croissants from local doughnut shops, and GOD FORBID... dare I mention...... (p..p..... pane.ra.... bread)... eewwwww.... let me wash my mouth out.... ewwwwww...., you'd have a different expectation. So, for doughnut croissant eaters: this place is GODLY. Ok, a piece of Opera cake, Mini London Fog, an espresso and a small coffee were $28. Fine, it's Silicon Valley. But the Opera cake was disgusting. It was dry as hell. I thought it was a week old, but my friend said that they just don't know how to make it. Their pastry chef should visit Schubert Cafe on Clement Street in San Francisco to find out what a real Opera cake should be. For $28 they can get the whole cake there.
