“TLDR: Food is great. Bit pricey but maybe worth it. Really really like this place! Food is great and will give you the feeling that it was made with a lot of care. Flavors and seasoning are great. I have tried the chicken thigh and beef kababs, tabbouleh, falafel babaganoush and hummus and I think the babaganoush is particularly outstanding. The service was pretty standard, nothing particularly outstanding just your normal "as expected" good service. Staff is helpful and willing to answer questions. The do not sell the entrees as a side meaning if you want an extra kabab, they won't sell it to you individually, you would have to order a whole other plate. Think they need to reconsider this. I personally do not fully understand this. The ambiance gives local spot. Seems like many regulars are here from the way it vibes when you enter which is neither good or bad for me, it just what it is. The bathroom is clean and doesn't smell which is remarkable I suppose. Parking is a bit more difficult since they are in a strip mall that's maybe a bit smaller than most but that's not on them. It is what it is. At least its free.“

“I contacted Misah regarding catering for my birthday party for 30 people. From the very start, Misah and his staff were polite, professional, and friendly. My wife took me to the restaurant for lunch to sample the food a couple of days before the party. Misah was very nice in person as well. The food was freshly prepared and very delicious. All the sides were good as well; the lentil soup, cucumber yogurt, and hummus. He offered us free desserts to sample. Their homemade baklava is so good. When they prepare your catering order, they cook the kabob close to your pickup time so that it is hot and fresh when you get home. They use very good quality containers for transporting the food. Our party guests loved the food so much that we barely had any leftovers for the next day. We will definitely eat at Chelo in the future. It is a small hidden gem in Van Nuys.“

The food was great and the customer service was on point. The gentleman that helped charge me for my pickup order was very polite and helpful! “Came here after work and this place is a little hidden gem! It's located in a small strip mall with random shops next to it, so it's very unassuming. I came in and was greeted by the staff. They quickly took my order for takeout and was told it would be about 20 mins. Food was ready by the time I came back and it smelled amazing. I got the mixed lule kebab plate and it had a beef and chicken lule over rice. Sides of salad, hummus, , pita bread, and veggies (separate in a bag). Flavor was on point, however the lule was slightly on the drier side but not terrible. For the price, it hit the spot. It was a huge portion and I ended up having a small portion of leftovers the next day. Not sure how it compares to other Mediterranean restaurants in the area, but it wasn't bad.“
