“My goto for late night (9am-11:45pm 7 days a week). Always good selection and too much food for me (doggy bags to go a must) in one setting. Also, holidays when everyone else is closed.
Vegetarian options: Always ask the waiter. They know best.
Dietary restrictions: L
Parking: Has a 17 or 18 stall Tesla Superchargers just off the I80 Central Street off-ramp in Richmond/Albany area. During the day, the parking lot gets very crowded, but mornings and evenings are fine.
Kid-friendliness: Ok, but children needs supervision.
Wheelchair accessibility: Ok. Wheelchair ramps outside with handicapped parking in-front. Several times, full with handicapped customers inside.“

“Reservations are really hard to get, ended up going at Monday 10pm for a party of 3. It was definitely good, but maybe a bit over hyped. Portions were small but flavor was good. Black pepper steak was delicious, but the drinks were what really stood out. We got the Osthmanthus Lemon and the Chinese Almond Milk high balls and they were some of the best cocktails I've ever tried. Good service and really nice vibe. 4 stars for the difficulty getting in and value.“

“Seating is very limited. A few tables for two and a few tables for four. When I went, it was fully seated with about 26 dining inside. The price is reasonable but there's an additional charge for the credit card if the bill is below 20. And you won't get a receipt paying cash. Food tastes okay but because it's so close, maybe the closest, to the union square, this place never lacks customers.“

“We were just walking around and looking for a good place to eat. Stumbled upon this spot. Don't be fooled by the handful of people eating during the mid afternoon time this place was fire! Their food was really good. Bit pricey compared to your regular Chinese food spot. But man it was worth it.
Kid-friendliness: Their staff was very patient with our toddler.“
“Delicious Dim Sum, you got something goingYou're a hidden gem in China town that's worth knowingYou're dim sum delight are very tastyAnd your food is all ready and so come here if you're hastyDim Sum here is CHEAP!!! I can get full off of $5 if you choose right. Their Shu mei (pork stemmed thingies), Ha gow (Shrimp dumplings), and their steamed lotus leaf with sticky rice and meat (the one without the cords) is great! Not sure why this place has two dollar signs as it's CHEAP and good. Worth the trek from all the way from SOMA.“

“Stumbled upon this place while I was walking through Chinatown for the first time. Speaking as a connoisseur of 燒肉 Siu Yuk from Hong Kong, the crispy roast pork here is delicious, very authentic and can rival the best of Hong Kong. Before my visit, I got a turkey sandwich and a bottle of Mountain Dew for 8 bucks, then came to Chinatown and bought the box of fried rice + Siu Yuk + tofu in the photo for $10. The portion was so big I couldn't even finish it. Great value for money 👍 The staff are friendly and can speak Cantonese.“

“We ordered the Iced Lemon Honey Tea and the Vegetarian Dumplings. The tea was absolutely delicious. It was so refreshing. The vegetarian dumplings were so beautiful and tasted amazing. It was so fascinating that when you bit into them, you could taste each individual ingredient as if it was freshly placed on your plate while also complimenting the dumpling shell. We drove from the coast, closer to San Diego to visit for an impromptu adventure. The ambience was clean and welcoming. They were incredibly kind and quick to assist when we needed it. We are so thankful to them for sharing their dumplings.“

“Good authentic Chinese food at a reasonable price. This place was very close to the hotel I was staying at and seeing that it was not the usual cheap Chinese, I decided to try it out. I ordered the beef rice noodle roll and a shrimp wonton noodle soup. The noodle soup was okay. I enjoyed it but it was a bit bland. The beef rice noodle roll was very good. In addition to the sauce on the roll, the beef was also marinated and nicely seasoned. Service was quick for ordering and for the food delivery. If I was in the area again, I would definitely come back.“

“Amazing Tai Shan restaurant!!! Recommendations:
1. Taishan beef bone soup (we also were told coconut chicken soup is their specialty) - this wasn’t salty, perfectly herbed, so yummmmmmyv
2. yellow eel clay pot rice - fresh water eels!
3. pork noodle roll - house made!
4. purple potatoes sesame balls - rare find usually it’s red bean
They said all dim sum is made in site and they use free range chicken - don’t get preserved pork cake
There as only 1 waitresss who was also the host and cashier. She was amazing and kind - management should hire at least 1 more person
And of course this place has less stars cuz it doesn’t cater to westerners but their is the obligatory kung pao plate but just ignore that. All the surrounding restaurants have tourists whereas this one is filled with Taishan people.“

“Came here two days in a row for a few items to have as breakfast, great pricing and the lady was very helpful. There is a bit of waiting in the morning on certain items but I believe it was worth waiting. Also there’s one medium size table to be able to dine in but other than that it’s mostly take out.“

“Good location in Chinatown. The shrimp were hit and miss. In cham fun varied from ok to inedible. In har gao acceptable ok but the skin was too thick. In siu mai the shrimp were inedible and the pork could have been more tender. The turnip cake was tasty. The rice porridge was very good but a little salty for my taste.“

“This is one of my two favorite Chinese places in the Bay Area. I've been going there for like 15 years, miss them a lot when I'm in DC working. It's a very affordable place, the lunch deluxe deal is unbeatable. They can also do dishes that are not in the menu for the connoisseurs like pak chit kai, the traditional steamed half hen with a tangy and tasty ginger garlic scallion condiment. It's no frills, but we are not here for a Michelin experience but to eat really delish Chinese Cantonese plates. And the owners are always really nice and they speak Spanish (at least some, and they are funny)“

“My go-to for quality porridge and nourishment. They are a porridge first restaurant so I can ask to customize it. It’s not a restaurant you go for ambience. The owner working at the cash register is knowledgeable and nice. Now i’m hungry again talking about this place.“

“I personally don’t think the barbecued pork bun is particularly delicious, but overall it’s okay. I don’t know why there are so many people queuing up 😂 Maybe it’s because the price is very cheap. A barbecued pork bun only costs two yuan.“

“Best dim sum in SF. Shark fin dumpling and deep fried pork puff are the best items. Low prices. No seating. To go only. Closes early, at 4 pm.“

“Very pleased with our dim sum lunch. Ha gao tasted fresh and qq. Siu mai were huge. Chicken rice in banana leaves were more of the single size serving so lacking in ingredients inside. I loved my steamed turnip cake and the steamed chive dumplings. 生煎包was too doughy but my bad for ordered a Shanghainese bao in a dim sum place.
Staff was very friendly and best part was that I didn’t have a msg attack afterwards.“

“I was going to take bus number 12, but it seemed like a good restaurant, so I came the next day.
Teleported directly from San Fran to China. This is China.
The clerk speaks only Chinese. Just order with hand gestures.
The main menu is pan, rice topped with meat or chicken.
The price was cheap and good
To be honest, it's okay not to expect hygiene.
Calculation is analog, so use cash.“

“I love the food here. Anytime I go, there's never a lot of people in there and I usually order ahead and pick it up. The Salt and Pepper fish, Shrimp Chow Mein-Skinny and Honey Walnut prawns are what I usually order.
The area has changed a lot, Longs, the Dive Bar and Wheel works are all closed. Safeway is still there and CD is to the right of it.
Parking: Plenty of parking.
Wheelchair accessibility: Parking is not a problem.“

“Ordered the wonton soup with beef. Wontons were plump & hot. Beef was cooked til tender & very flavorful. $10 including tax.
Parking: Note parking is very difficult in Chinatown. Metered spaces are free after 6pm weekdays & all day Sun. I'm not sure about white & yellow spaces after 6pm & Sundays.“

“Visited in December 2024, looking for flaky fried taro dim sum.
When we inquired about the taro, we were told that they did have the dish. It was in the wrong form: steamed skin instead of fried with flaky edges
The steamed taro dumpling with ground meat is okay, not amazing. The right filling, but we wanted the fried ones.
We had just purchased multiple boxes of dim sum from 2 other shops so we didn't try anything else. Maybe next time.
Cash payment.“

“Very friendly and nice staff. They barely speak English but understand enough to serve you. Their cookies: both almond and walnut are the best I’ve had in San Francisco. Even better than the other bakeries around. Also their walnut cream layered cake is really good and I highly recommend this one instead of the similar looking cake from other bakeries in the neighborhood.
Also tried the green onion twist bread but I didn’t care for it. It looks more delicious than what it tastes like.
Their pineapple buns are really good though. Also their cream horns with the cherry and egg tarts are very good.
Been trying the pound cake here, it’s so good. I highly recommended that one. It reminds me of a Mexican pound cake. It’s nice and moist, topped with walnuts.
Vegetarian options: Just use common sense 🤣“

“Got breakfast here everyday I stayed in SF — if you get there right after 8:30 AM that’s when they start bringing out the fresh pastries. Get the egg tart and coconut bun. Coconut bun is out of this world and the egg tart is super flaky and buttery. Getting there early is a must because the bakery items are still warm!“

“We had lunch there first, so a steamed fish we came back for was really tasty. The place can really be recommended if you want real Cantonese food. and it is not expensive. It was almost like being back in good old Hong Kong again.

“美味肠粉 A hidden gem for Cheung Fun lovers!
Stopped by for some Cheung Fun in the afternoon. Though it wasn’t busy, we waited around twenty to thirty minutes—maybe the chef was on break. But it was worth it! The Cheung Fun was fantastic! The other dishes look authentic too. I’d love to give it a try next time.“

“Just had Dinner at this place. To be fair from the outside you wouldn't give a dime for it. I ordered Mongolian beef and egg fried rice. This was the best beef I've had and the rice was also very tasty. Authentic Chinese restaurant and English can be a language barrier. Thanks for everything!“

“Brutal! A restaurant in the actual China Town neighborhood. Without filters and with a certain charm. I discovered this restaurant watching YouTube videos from an influencer and I thought it was brutal. One of the coolest things about China Town is eating in places that really want to offer food and not sell it to you with decorations. A very nice lady attended to us speaking broken English. It was great because he served us tea while we waited to eat some nice grilled pork belly and another cut of barbecue pork. The set was ideal for two people and you didn't need anything else. I loved it. Thank you very much for cooking so delicious!! Ahh I forgot. You can only pay with cash.“

“Idk why people have so much hate for this place. Ive ordered from here a few times and every single time im impressed with how much depth and the flavor has for each dish AS WELL as the size portions of the food. I spent approx 100 bucks for 4 people (thats pretty average these days) for dinner and everyone loved what they got. 3/4 of us were able to order 2 entrees and managed to keep it around 25-30 dollars each and then still had enough food for leftovers later. Tsing Tao (love ya, Tsing Tao) is second to this place imo and ive been going to Tsing Tao since I was a kid. Give it a shot.“

“Amazing food for a great price! I stopped here due to the great reviews online and this place was actually really good. I paid ~$20 (food + tip) for that plate which was WAY bigger than I thought it was going to be. I don’t even know what the drink was but it was good, just very hot so drink with caution!
Their employees are great and this place was a great experience!“

“During a tour of San Fran, I walked through Chinatown and gave Cafe New Honolulu a try. Ordered the Sweet Fried Rice and Fish Balls. The rice was GREAT (loved the texture and stickiness). The fish balls did nothing for me - lived the sauce, but didn't enjoy the fish (it was made correctly, and I'm sure others love it, but it wasn't for me). However, I would go back and try another dish or two.“
