“We were in the area and l noticed Essy's Kabob. Knowing my better half likes Mediterranean type of food I suggested we try it for lunch. When we got there we were greated by a couple of the employees and asked if it was our first time there. We were then explained what the menu items were and told what was most popular. We both decided on the chicken kabob and found a table. A short while later we were brought some warm and tadty pita bread. A short time later our chicken kabob plates should up with basmati rice, hummus, and fresh grilled pepper and tomato. The chicken was very good, tendor with great flavor. The rice, hummus and vegetables were equally as good and tasted very fresh. All in all it was a good choice and good meal. Friendly, helpful staff and reasonably nice dinning area. Looked like they do a fair amount of catering as well. Definitely worth trying.“

“I'm amazed we didn't visit this place sooner! Our server, unfortunately, I forgot his name, was fantastic! The hospitality was exceptional, and it's some of the best service we've experienced in Sacramento. We were greeted promptly upon arrival, and our server was attentive and helpful throughout. He even helped me in selecting an entree when I was indecisive. We received timely updates on our food while waiting for our order. As for the food, it was incredible! We tried the Maydoon bowl with chicken kabobs and the Taste of Maydoon. The chicken kabobs were juicy and bursting with flavor. The hummus and mast o khiar (yogurt/cucumber/mint) my husband had were among the best we've ever tasted. This place is sure to become a new favorite, and we're eager to return and try more of their dishes.“

“I think I've eaten at every Persian place in Sacramento by now, as well as a few of the Iraqi and Afghani places, and for sure there is a lot of great kabob and rice to be had at many of these places. I would rate Famous Kabob recently as one of the best. The Koubideh (ground beef) Kabob they serve is nicely cooked, tender, juicy, and the rice is always very good. I think I've been to this restaurant 6 or 7 times by now, and I'd say the quality has improved in the past couple of years. It's definitely a go-to when I need to place group orders for pickup.“
