Akagi Restaurant Reviews
I’ve been going there for over 30 years. It’s the best tasting most reasonably priced Japanese food I have ever found.
Rich H.'s review yesterday lured me here. He is an epic Elite.
Akagi's deep fried pork curry cutlet $16.75 is good. There were meat pieces in the curry. This is a traditional thick Japanese curry that goes well with soft white rice. The flavor profile is less spicier than Indian or Thai curry. The overcooked sweet carrots felt comforting. As for the pork cutlet, it had the right breading and a splash of what I thought was soy and Worcestershire sauce.

Akagi Restaurant is a popular Japanese eatery that is beloved by families and foodies alike. The staff is warm and welcoming, with the cook/owner often coming out to check on guests. The restaurant is known for its homemade miso dressing, which is a favorite among regulars. The menu features a variety of dishes, including beef teriyaki, tempura, and sushi. The beef teriyaki is cooked to perfection, with a perfect medium-rare and a tender texture. The tempura is crispy and flavorful, without being over-battered. The sushi is fresh and expertly rolled, with unique options like the Amaebi roll and Dragon roll. The restaurant also offers a range of savory dishes like gyoza and tonkatsu, which are made with fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection. Many customers enjoy the sashimi deluxe, which is consistently high quality. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere and affordable prices, making it a favorite for locals who visit regularly. Although service can sometimes be spotty, with occasional delays in getting drinks, the friendly staff generally provides good service. Parking is available nearby, though sometimes a short walk is needed. Overall, Akagi Restaurant remains a long-established local favorite for authentic Japanese cuisine and comfort food.
